Definitely the most chill Grunge/Punk musicians that have probably been interviewed by Nard. No ego just a genuine love and passion for music. Cool to see.
Once young punks find enough success, you get most of his 90's interviews. When punks spend 40 years in small clubs and have fans who don't give a fuck about image. You get interviews like this.
Nardwuar vs. John Wright (Nomeansno) & Steve Turner (Mudhoney) 1126am 19.8.24 just listening to forget your life by nomeansno, then, yer bastard.... cast out from a state of bliss, there....
The footage of 22 year old Nardwuar was actually my favorite part but this whole double interview was awesome and im definitely gonna go out and get both books
Awesome a little break from pop/hip hop goin back to his punk roots Nomeansno is one of the greatest rock/punk/whatever bands of all time. They’re such monsters on their instruments and vocals and sustaining it over 2 hours for live shows just crazy good musicians
Nardwuar dropping the knowledge of punk history through some of the greats. Love this! And the CiTR shoutout! Great edit of the young Nard into the story!
What isn't mentioned is this interview took place the same night Steve & John did a book launch at Neptoon in Vancouver (I wasn't there but have my spies.) I imagine they probably read from their books a bit and afterwards the guys chatted with fans and signed books/records/took photos. That's a long night in itself and to then do (I mean doot doo!) a 1.5 hour (on the dot) interview?! That's pretty awesome. Kudo's to everybody. Luv ya Nardwuar!
Yeah that's a lot of endurance just to keep energy up for this kind of manic interview… And indeed there was a reading/signing afterwards because one of my "spies" picked up both of the books, inscribed and signed and sending to me in Japan
Holy crap! Awesome interview as always, plus a brief appearance of the Squirrels playing Betsy (The Exploding Cabbage Patch Doll!)Take Me To Your Leader, Leader! Thank you Mr. Nardwuar! DOOT DOO!
Man, all of these guys are some of the biggest punk rock nerds ever, in the best way of course. They KNOW their shit, that's for sure. Loved every second of this brilliant interview.
Top notch interview! I can't believe Nardwuar never interviewed NoMeasnNo. And I gotta say Dead Bob's first album "Life Like" is a masterpiece to me; An Absolute 10/10 album. I am so excited and hopeful for the (possible) upcoming 4 albums John Wright says he's working on for the band.
Narrdwuar gets things out of my favorite artists that no one else can. He's so good I watch his interviews even if I don't know the artist, so I've discovered lots of music through him as well. Keep on rocking in the free world Nard. ❤❤❤
1:28:19 -- My mind was COMPLETELY BLOWN by the fact that these two gentlemen who I had watched vibing together on their shared love for and history in punk rock music had... never met before? 🤯
i'm currently working on a graphic novel that borrows from how influential NoMeansNo has been for me. i guess that's what happens when you walk down the street with a bag on your head and a sign that says.....
The Big Day Out festivals were the best Festivals in Australia. The 1993 Festival which Steve mentioned was the ultimate lineup, The Hard Ons with Jerry A on vocals were called The Hard Ones and they were freaking incredible. The year before was the very first Big Day Out festival which Nirvana performed at and they were blown away by The Beast’s Of Bourbon who followed them on stage. Just ask Henry Rollins and he will tell you that The Beast’s Of Bourbon absolutely ruled that night
What a great interview. Very revealing and uttterly funny. Two amazing characters from legendary bands..and it led me to find about Dead Bob and I´m already impressed in the best possible manner. Thanks, as always, Nardwar
Great episode Nardwuar ! Fell in love with the Artwork and the lettering fn the "Clam Chowder & Ice Vs Big Macs & Bombers" cover. After a search on discogs I found that it is from a certain Michael Scott, also credited for being the drummer of The Evaporators. Did he continue to draw? Do you know if we can see more of his work anywhere? I searched on the internet but couldn't find anything. Very curious about seeing more of his great lettering and pop color layouts ! Keep up the great work! Cheers from France!
Thank you Nardwuar, for helping capture the history of punk rock. Nomeansno are the best band to ever do it. Love the stories about eastern Europe. The Nomeansno book is GREAT
Do it! Look up "Live + Cuddly videos" on YT if you want a real treat. The live LP is great but one of the shows was filmed as well and the footage is even better than the album. Nomeansno was one of the best live bands of all time.
DOA helped a Polish punk band Dezerter record LP as it was not possible in Poland due to communist censorship in the 80's. It is called 'Underground out of Poland'
Nardwuar puts so many interviewers to shame. He does his research above and beyond and the reactions he gets as a result are priceless. Thus, the people he interviews are suitably patient with him and seem to enjoy the interaction...apart from the Rollins one where he's being a dick to him, quelle surprise...

I saw them last night

John Wright-the greatest drummer ever!
@sucker4thewitch But he is nothing compared to John when it comes to the feel. Haake tends to overplay, John knows what's enough.
@@sutiszorny8039 John also sings while drumming.
The footage of 22 year old Nardwuar was actually my favorite part but this whole double interview was awesome and im definitely gonna go out and get both books
Nice 2 of my favorites NoMeansNo & Mudhoney being interviewed by Nardwuar in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, North America, Earth !
Awesome a little break from pop/hip hop goin back to his punk roots Nomeansno is one of the greatest rock/punk/whatever bands of all time. They’re such monsters on their instruments and vocals and sustaining it over 2 hours for live shows just crazy good musicians
Nardwuar vs. John Wright (Nomeansno) & Steve Turner (Mudhoney) 19.8.24 1136am this interviewer is a bit hyper...
No means No . One of the greatest punk bands ever . No discussion!
No sex!
Legends..Big love from Compressorhead in Berlin.
Saw Nomeansno many times in Germany! Crushed it every time...i hold them responcible for how i percieve punk or music in general!
"My name's John, my Mom doesn't know I'm Nardwuar!"
NoMeansNo is one of the best bands to ever come out of Canada -- this was very overdue! 🙏
It's a close call, I adore NMN but I think Voivod just nudges ahead.
STEVE TURNER MENTIONED 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nardwuar dropping the knowledge of punk history through some of the greats. Love this! And the CiTR shoutout! Great edit of the young Nard into the story!

Saw DB in Long Beach & San Diego. Great Live just like NMN!
nice! finally not a 20 year old rapper I dont know ! nomeansno 4 eva!
Yeah ain't that the truth

please more interviews with bands like these..back to the old school nard!
HEY NARD! ITS BEEN AWHILE!
NomeansNo were amazing. 'Wrong' is a masterpiece
It is their most high profile release but they have done better records eg. 'Small Parts', 'Mr Happy' or even the later 'One'.
@@jeffsimon9594 I dunno about better, but they have plenty of albums that are close if not just as good.
GIVE ME A DOOT DOO WE LOVE NARDWUAR
Doot Dooo!
Awesome interview
So excited that I get to see John perform again on June 1 is Sac. Amazing interview and really enjoying the Nomeansno book!
Where can I get the book?
NOMEANSNO!! One of the greatest bands of all time.
1:28:19 -- My mind was COMPLETELY BLOWN by the fact that these two gentlemen who I had watched vibing together on their shared love for and history in punk rock music had... never met before? 🤯
I've probably seen Nomeansno live more than any other band. They used to open for everyone and were always on tour.
They toured their arses off, almost no day-offs!
My band opened for them in Auckland NZ back in '95 on the Worldhood tour, naturally I have never gotten over it...
Closest I've ever given punk a try is rage against the machine, listened to these two and I'm hooked
I still have that Dehumanizers 7” that I bought in the 80s.
NoMeansNo 🖤🖤🖤

We're the Bagheads, the Bagheads.
How's it going with the graphic novel? Sounds interesting.
Finally! The one I was waiting for. Thank you

Imagine holding the mic on the straight arm for 90 minutes straight without changing the lead hand. That’s Nardwuar power
Finally, Nomeansno. Will always be my favorite band. And Dead Bob is awesome.
Greatest drummer ever! I def need to get the NMN book!
What a great interview. Very revealing and uttterly funny. Two amazing characters from legendary bands..and it led me to find about Dead Bob and I´m already impressed in the best possible manner. Thanks, as always, Nardwar
Best interviewer ever.
I was lucky enough to drink with John at a friends house after a Hanson Bros. show. Mfer had the smoothest whiskey i have ever tasted.
An hour and a half? We're being spoiled
Yeah this is a marathon, I'm tired just watching it but it's re-creating my entire adolescence so I can't stop watching
Love what you do all the way from Saint John. Hope u remember this when u interview me
awesome stuff, as usual! legends only in this video. thanks for all the great work!

LOVE NoMeansNo. Hope for one last tour one day. ATL!
It won't happen, Rob is retired from touring.
Nardwuar should do an interview with Rob Wright next (John is welcome to join in 😊)
It’s so cool to hear about north west punk culture back then
Best interviewer to ever live and only 24k views WTF world
Great interview!

"John Lydon is a total putz" - John Wright
No nonsense John.
I loved every second of this ❤
This interview got me to check out the first Dayglo Abortions album. I can't believe I missed out on that.
Absolutely agree, "The Prisoner" is DOA's best.
Legends. Thanks Nardwuar.
Nardwuar vs. viperr
Nardwuar is awesome! He is very intense at times...... look at his knuckles as he holds the microphone at times!
Beyond amazing!
Henry is always Henry, but something tells me 2024 Henry would tear into 1998 Henry.
Royalty!!! 🙌
Inspiration to always be kind ❤
0:55 - fwiw i think my fave DOA song is Slum Lord
We want the Ed Fotheringham of the “Thrown Ups” interview
One day he’ll do an Eminem episode
Ask John if he feels Jello Biafra is withholding record money from him.
Clam chowder and ice vs big macs and bombers
Is celery there?
I saw NMN 3 times. I must say it was one of the loudest shows ive seen. my ears were fried for a bit
ohhh the spit!😢
Steve seems to have no ego at all, which is an amazing attribute
Wonder if Nardwuar has ever had the chance or tried to interview Mark Mothersbaugh? That would be an amazing interview.
ty Nardwuar!
With Honors stars Brendan Frazier who grew up in Seattle but also is Canadian!
Oh hilarious, I was wondering who that was as I've never heard of the movie… "Run shithead run indeed"
Damn, I have that LP (Clamchowder) somewhere. Gotta dig it out 23:19
When punk and grunge clash
Scott Henderson recorded my friend's band in the 90's. His band Shovlhed was really good.
