Thank you! And this type of design is advanced so don’t ever feel that if you can’t do this you can’t do anything. The very first step is understanding what is design. This was very informative, thank you for the video. My biggest takeaway was the importance of understanding the client and their needs / wants. Drilling down to the core concept of what they are looking for will get you that much closer to a design they will love. I have a question on the program to use for logo design. However, you answered two questions in the comments below for this video that you use and prefer InDesign. I have not used either of these programs and would be learning one, or both, from scratch. If you purchase fonts for a specific project do you charge that to the customer and include it as part of the final invoice? Or is that a cost that you would absorb?
I absorb this and work it into my prices. I used to charge way to low and wanted to charge the clients for fonts and stock imagery but they didn’t appreciate that and I realized I needed to just have it as the overall cost.
Love this so much so helpful... but what if you aren't someone that can draw or sketch at all? Is graphic design not for me then? Also, you went through so much amazing work drawing up that bear... I can't imagine using all that time only for the customer to say that they don't like it. How do you go about that?

You can do more geometric and for that you need to be good at simplifying shapes. I have a video coming out tomorrow with exercises to help with this actually. And regarding spending all that time and then the client not liking it, that is where having a really strong onboarding process is essential. Do your clients always give you the target audience for their company? If not, is that market research that you would have to do and charge them for it?
Ideally they give you some concept of this. It would be very odd if they had no idea about their target audience. But I usually do go more in-depth to understand them from a standpoint of what would attract them.
seriously I don't understand that what you got from mood board for this logo brand; I have been studying mood board but don't grip at all for design process. thanks
This is something you would do after the design is approved by searching in Google images with an image of the logo. This is really a legal task moreso than a designers job. If you are creating a bespoke logo design and have dug into competitors and ensure it is created from scratch, then it is up to the companies legal department to ensure it is not too similar to anything else from a trademark standpoint.
@@4TheCreatives really? so if I am a selfemployed designer and I create a logo for a customer that's by accident very similar to the logo of some other company, I will not be accountable?
What would happen if a client comes back after trying to trademark and the logo was found to be too similar to another would be to make simple modifications based on the recommendations from the lawyer they are using.
Here’s an excerpt from a good podcast episode about this subject: “But assuming nothing goes wrong with the registration process, about 6 to 6.5 months from start to finish. Once you submit the application, there’s a series of internal checks at the trademark office that they go through. They verify things. If there’s art that is part of it-a logo design or something like that-they go through a check.”

Here’s an excerpt from a good podcast episode about this subject:
“But assuming nothing goes wrong with the registration process, about 6 to 6.5 months from start to finish. Once you submit the application, there’s a series of internal checks at the trademark office that they go through. They verify things. If there’s art that is part of it-a logo design or something like that-they go through a check.”
