Omg my a5100 that I use as a facecam all of a sudden started doing this. I thought it was an internal battery that had run dry!! I am going to try this today- life saver!!
You just saved me, thank you. Just bought a used a6300 and giving it the once over. It was really starting to frustrate me as I was swapping batteries and updating firmware. I thought the camera had an issue. And it was just me pulling the battery.
So glad you made this. I've just reset the time, and I'll be patient moving forward :) BTW, A6300 webcam. Do you have the 1.4 16mm too? lol. Thanks for this.
I'm using a dummy battery, but I pretty much leave it in all the time and still have this problem. Just so I understand, are you saying after I turn it off, I should turn it on again after 10 seconds?
Just tried on my A7 II 1) turn off, wait 10 seconds, turn on & off, change battery, lost clock again 2) quick swap battery, 9 out of 10 will lost the clock 3) use usb charge the camera for 36 hours, swap battery, lost the clock My workaround Before the battery drop to 0%, swap a full charge battery on the fly (do not turn off your camera), the clock now saved.
Just because I love to be awkward, I have an issue with my Sony A7 II (old I know) where I turn it off, then when I turn it back on again the settings change back to a strange set of very custom values. I boot it back up, change the settings to how I want it, then next time I turn it off and back-on again it will restore the strange set of very custom values. I can't work out what's happening - I moved house today and when getting the camera setup as my webcam in the new location it's been doing this - never had the issue before. Really strange, hoping it fixes itself as randomly as it started happening, but one of the settings it changes is the white balance - every time I boot it up I'm all orange! Annoying!
Brilliant! I have three a6400s in my studio, all with dummy batteries and this settings issue was driving me crazy. This worked for me!
A73 here. You're a life saver. It worked!
