Anna Elise Me trying to get through all my required reading for my four courses at uni 😅. 2 weeks in and I’m already overwhelmed, because all the articles/ chapter are so long!
I mean I read an hour every night and I try to read an hour every morning that means if I finish a book before either of those hours are up I start a new book immediately
For me, it depends how good the book is. If its super good, I have to take a day to think about it before I start something else. Other wise, I start another book right away
I schedule my reading like this because it helps me read more, but if I'm in the middle of a chapter I always finish the chapter because it bothers me to stop in the middle of one haha
I do that sometimes but feel guilty like I'm cheating the book I just finished. But when I just read a really good book I can't help but to dive into another book right after.
Day 2: “reading 116 pages a day is going perfectly !” Day 20: “ so I think I hate reading” 🤣 I want to do this but I’m scared 🤣 Maybe I’ll try my average pages for a week
i did something v similar on my own - i calculated roughly how many pages all of the books on my tbr totalled and then i calculated how many pages i would have to read everyday to eliminate my tbr in a year. it ended up working out to 173 pages per day. what ended up happening is that i felt myself enjoying books less because i would just read through them to get to that page goal instead of reading for only enjoyment and i only ended up lasting about 3 weeks because it just was not working for me at all! it was definitely an interesting experiment for sure
It was so interesting to see how other people feel about structuring their reading. I aim to read for at least 10 minutes every day then if I feel like continuing then I will and if I don't then I stop until the next day. This is to prevent me from leaving weeks between each book as I'm such a mood reader, It helps me to keep the momentum going!
I am a big mood reader myself so I might try this. Of course I am usually reading something else besides a book when I am not in the mood to read a book. I just read a graphic novel or webcomic or most often I will be reading a 40 chapter Harry Potter fanfic.(I mean it's not always Harry Potter, but a lot of the time it is.)
"lala complains for 28 days straight" is literally me trying to stay on top of school work lol. also, i love your videos. it should be a crime, you know; making videos as fun and addicting such as yours. i'm so excited!!
I started scheduling my reading in January of this year because I wanted to make sure that I make time to read every single day. I pick a book I want to read that week, divide the number of pages by 7 and that's the amount of pages I want to read every day. I usually stop when I've read the page count for that day, but if I still want to read, I'll continue. It's been a pretty good motivator to know that if I read this amount of pages every day for a week, I will be finished with a book by Sunday. And I know 1 book a week isn't much for most people, but to me it's a huge deal. I really liked this challenge. And I can totally relate with not being in a reading mood and feeling like I have to catch up with my reading if I didn't hit my page count for a day.
You are way above average for readers with 52 books a year. Don’t let booktube fool you. Also: how did you finish that year? I know your comment is already quite old :)
This video is a treat! I might have to come back and edit this over and over again as the video continues...but with that said this video is so intriguing. The reason this is the case is because I actually divide my books I read each month into sections. I got this idea from another BookTuber where they placed tabs at certain points in the book and that’s where they must read to for that day. I never used to do this. I was a lot like you in the sense that I would just read when I felt like it. My pages read per day varied just like yours. The reason I decided to divide my books into sections is because I’m depressed. Depression is different for everyone, but for me it takes all my focus, where all I’m thinking about on a day to day basis is what I’m actually depressed about. This made reading very difficult for me. I’d go months without reading, not because I was in a reading slump, but because I couldn’t focus on what I was reading. My therapist told me a technique that helps with depression is to find something that can distract away from it: exercise, traveling, something you love, anything. Well my first love is reading, and it wasn’t enough. That’s what began the dividing my books into sections. The thought was that I could read a certain amount of pages per day (which still varied depending on the book length, etc.), and whether or not I finished that days section, I was still doing what I love which is reading, and I was distracting my mind away from the depression. It’s only been a few months since I’ve started this system and it’s working well for me. I’m reading more than I ever have. I’m not reading a certain amount of pages a day like you are, but I still have the sections in place and I read to my hearts content. I’m so excited to see how this challenge goes for you, and what you learn from it!!!
I have had months where I challenge myself to read at least x number of pages a day. Some days I would just read the x number, but other days I would read a lot more. I would not do well to limit myself to stop at a certain number. I also hate stopping in the middle of a chapter. Interesting challenge. 💖💖💖
I’d love to see 20 days of 20 vastly different books/chapters from books. Like stepping out of your comfort zone and reading something you’d never think you’d enjoy like a children’s book or a non fiction or high fantasy just a snippet of something you’d usually never read ✨💕
I have a goal of reading a minimum of 100 pages a day but will often read more. If I dont hit the 100 pages I let myself catch up the next day. It works with the schedule I have now but Im sure that will change.
RepublicOH I listen to audiobooks at 3x and text to speech at 4x. I review everything I read and am a mood writer so I will write 5-6 reviews in a row sometimes days or weeks after reading a bunch of books.

@@Yokie05 Fair enough. I do watch UA-cam at 1.25 x but the books I choose to listen to as an audiobook rather than physically reading are usually ones with a lot of atmosphere and beautiful writing, so I like to listen to them at the original speed so that I can be fully immersed in the performance.

I agree with you! It's so much easier to get back into a book when you stop in the middle of the chapter or in the middle of the scene. I always read at school and this always happens to me because i have to stop reading at weird places. When I pick up the book again I easily get into it because I want to know what happens in that specific scene. But it's also annoying because you have to put the book down at an interesting part, and when you pick it up again if it's an emotional scene or something, it doesn't affect you as much because you feel a little disconnected and doesn't have the same effect.
I LOVED this. I loved watching you be challenged and adapt to it. I loved how I get to see you be so real and conflicted amid the challenge. Seriously. So glad you made this.
This makes me want to challenge myself but I think I’ll choose an amount of time. Like 30mins. And then allowing for more if I want to. But it would help me read through days that I’m lazy. Hmmm.

I love these long videos! I recently discovered your channel and I've been working my way through your content. I enjoy journalling or drawing with youtube video's in the background and yours have been great for this. You inspire me to be more productive with my hobbies!
Yesss 👏🏻👏🏻 this is such a unique and great idea, I love it! I find that if you want structured daily reading, saying 30/45/60 minutes a day is a lot easier than the specific page count. Otherwise you end up burning out because stopping in the middle of chapters etc. Can dishearten you! Also I’m loving the extra long videos, thanks for all the effort you put in 💕 26:56 is literally me
back when i watched this video the first time it made me want to try this for myself, so for a whole month i read at least 100 p per day (though i didn't set an upper limit), and it made me enjoy reading so much more! it meant i read my allotted 100 p relatively early in the day (from like 3-5 pm) and had the rest of the evening to do whatever i wanted without having "i need to read" looming over me. and then i found that I actually wanted to read even more during that time, so I routinely read 200+ pages per day and, within 30 days, only missed 1 day of reading bc i was at a family get-together. the only "negative" i noticed was that I used to read one short story after each book to get through short story collections, and with my challenge I quickly stopped doing that because I felt like I wasn't making any progress when I'd 'waste' 50-90 pages on a short story when i could be getting through 1/3 of a book during that time. Like, I noticed "wasting pages" a lot more. Anyway I'd love if you repeated this experiment with a lower baseline of pages (maybe 50/day?) but no upper limit, and see how that affects your reading?
Yay, I’ve been waiting for this!! It’s cool to see different people’s reading styles. I actually read way more on the weekdays and then hardly read on the weekends because I’m on the train 3 hours a day commuting to and from work
This wasn’t dumb I loved it! I am a high school science teacher and I have my degree in forensics so I love the experimental videos you do. You really have a creative mind and I love it! Thanks for sharing :)
A snack and a drink I use 50-100pg goal per day sometimes, it helps with a reading slump or a boring book to get through so I understand the 'don't feel like reading' part
I've gotten so stressed with my TBR and readings (to the point I even though of "dropping it"). This seems like a great alternative to feel productive but still kinda give myself a break. Thanks a lot for the idea.

Also I’m loving the extra long videos, thanks for all the effort you put in 💕
26:56 is literally me
can't wait to see the secret video
I’m always in the mood to read Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
back when i watched this video the first time it made me want to try this for myself, so for a whole month i read at least 100 p per day (though i didn't set an upper limit), and it made me enjoy reading so much more! it meant i read my allotted 100 p relatively early in the day (from like 3-5 pm) and had the rest of the evening to do whatever i wanted without having "i need to read" looming over me. and then i found that I actually wanted to read even more during that time, so I routinely read 200+ pages per day and, within 30 days, only missed 1 day of reading bc i was at a family get-together. the only "negative" i noticed was that I used to read one short story after each book to get through short story collections, and with my challenge I quickly stopped doing that because I felt like I wasn't making any progress when I'd 'waste' 50-90 pages on a short story when i could be getting through 1/3 of a book during that time.
You are inspiring so much to read everyday to get through my tbr pile lol!!
I'm one who likes a schedule. I read at night to relax for bed, so I get at least two hours before bed. Any other reading is a bonus!
you have such original ideas, love it!
47 minutes!?!?!?!?! All hail Queen Lala
A snack and a drink
I use 50-100pg goal per day sometimes, it helps with a reading slump or a boring book to get through so I understand the 'don't feel like reading' part
I've gotten so stressed with my TBR and readings (to the point I even though of "dropping it"). This seems like a great alternative to feel productive but still kinda give myself a break. Thanks a lot for the idea.
