"Donald Trump dangled a brazen “deal” in front of some of the top US oil bosses last month, proposing that they give him $1bn for his White House re-election campaign and vowing that once back in office he would instantly tear up Joe Biden’s environmental regulations and prevent any new ones, according to a bombshell new report.
According to the Washington Post, the former US president made his jaw-dropping pitch, which the paper described as “remarkably blunt and transactional”, at a dinner at his Mar-a-Lago home and club.
In front of more than 20 executives, including from Chevron, Exxon and Occidental Petroleum, he promised to increase oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, remove hurdles to drilling in the Alaskan Arctic, and reverse new rules designed to cut car pollution. He would also overturn the Biden administration’s decision in January to pause new natural gas export permits which have been denounced as “climate bombs”."

The Oil Industry continues to post record profits EVERY QUARTER...not only do they not need assistance, they need to be taxed more aggressively in order to help pay for protecting the environment AND regulated to punish serial polluters.

We need to hold them accountable for that. It's not a tax on the poorest Americans by the Federal government, it's reverse-engineered profit margin that is designed to protect share price and therefore keep share holders happy. Let's place the blame where it belongs.

Too many Americans don't understand the concept of US oil and energy NOT being NATIONALIZED. "Energy Independence" in a country where's it's energy sector is non-nationalized, subject to the free market, and more profitable to EXPORT than sell at American pumps is a delusional pipe dream of ppl with no understanding of the American energy sector and how it operates. We can import cheaper from places like Canada and Venezuela, and export OUR oil at higher profit outside the US to countries happy to pay our premium for our particular US sweet light crude drilled by companies invested in by non Americans. So the delusion that some president stops the US from having cheap gas and energy Independence is a red flag if economic ignorance. We EXPORT most of our oil outside the US, ppl. THAT'S why the keystone pipeline plan leads to a GD PORT, ppl. For easy, less expensive export with higher profit margins, not so they can pipe it to the gulf and THEN sell in say, Vermont,😂).
American oil is traded in the world market, not sequestered to ensure American energy Independence. Lol, the lack of understanding that simple fact is an absurdity that ppl VOTE based in a complete lack of understanding of.

The USA is pumping more out of the ground then ever. The USA exports much of its sweet light crude and imports sour heavy crude, because our refineries for the most part are set up for sour heavy crude. The USA also exports a large amount of refined oil products.
World demand and world supply have much to do with oil and gasoline prices, along with taxes, regulations on how "clean" the gasoline must be, etc. The USA simply increasing output 10% is not going to lead to gasoline prices falling.
Oil companies are producing less on purpose to jack the cost for a barrel of crude up for maximum profit
