  • Hello and welcome to the first in my series of testing travel clothing/products to decide what I will take with me to 12 different countries in six months in one bag. In this video I am testing out rain jackets to determine who has the best fit, function and packability. These are the jackets I will be featuring:
Eddie Bauer Rainfoil Packable Jacket: www.eddiebauer.com/p/20612328...
    Columbia Arcadia II Jacket: www.columbia.com/womens-arcad...
REI Co-op Drypoint GTX Jacket: www.rei.com/product/125097/re...
and for some background on some of the research I did check below:

Thanks for the video! I have the Eddie Bauer and I found it helpful to fold up the sleeves and the hood while packing it. It wasn't that bad! I also weighed it and it was 1lb 4 oz. Haven't worn this jacket yet, but I already love it.

A not so secret hint on hoods an inexpensive tennis visor or ball cap works wonders . The hoods tend to run larger so that if your climbing ,caving or rolling it will accommodate a “brain bucket “helmet . Having a brim from a hat or visor helps improve the experience , I wear glasses and don’t have a wiper in rain , so keeping the spectacles drop free is key . And I just saw the date you have already travelled , I hope you enjoyed the trip and made some good memories .

Thank you for the video. I just wanted to make sure that Columbia is a good option if all I care for a jacket is being waterproof and it looks like it is

yes it was waterproof - I think the fit and feel weren't my favorite, but it could work for you!

I’ve never found Goretex to be completely waterproof but looks like it’s improved over the years. If you do flip the hood, flip it under not over. If you flip it up it will make a pool of water. Lightweight is always good but not cheap

Thanks for the tip on the hood! I will be sure to do that. The Goretex was indeed waterproof and not cheap lol

How was the Eddie Bauer, long term? I just bought an Eddie Bauer parka and I love it. The EB raincoat is on sale right now for $50! And it’s supposedly packable into a pillow!

Well I ended up returning that one since I went with the REI jacket, so unfortunately I can't give much advice on the long term. the REI jacket still packs pretty small and I have really enjoyed it.

I have the Eddie Bauer rainfoil packable jacket and I love it, though I haven't been able to use it yet!

I buy lots of Bauer when stuff is on sale , the great reason for shopping there is if the product ever lets you down or breaks , you can take it back and exchange it for a new one , I always carry a jacket and last time I used it the zipper broke after 15 years so I just got a new rain-foil in yellow . But I have lots of parkas and shirts from there ,I am addicted to Hi route grid fleece I have them in 1/4 zip 1/2 zip hooded and grid air hooded

I have the Eddie Bauer, i packed it into its pocket first try. It zipped closed. It is packed tightly, but i love the fit and feel of the material!

Noted! I haven't found a lot of tight hiking clothes I have liked yet except perhaps bike shorts, but I can look into it!

Can you do a review like this for men!??

I'm really salty that the Drypoint GTX is $250 in mens. I've been waiting for a sale to pull the trigger

    • @BraggworthyAdventures
      @BraggworthyAdventures  4 роки тому +1

I had no idea it was so much more expensive for men! That is a bummer. I know REI does some sales regularly - so hopefully there will be one soon!

@@BraggworthyAdventures Yeah, the women's is actually 50% off right now, so you got a super good deal on a $250 jacket lol

    Nylon is not breathable.
