Vanillahamham has a very detailed tutorial that I used a few weeks ago. They have one video for the cage and one for the lid. It will get you a cage exactly like what Victoria shows in this video. The lid is different though.
You completely changed my way I took care of my hamster. He lived in a 350 square inch of floor space cage and now he lives in a 800 square inch of floor space bin cage with a 12 inch wheel and a much better seed mix. Thank you!

I love the cage! I can't wait to see what ends up living in it! My hamster recently chewed a way out of her cage, and got out in my room. We found her, but it's sad seeing her bored and stressed in her cage that she would do that. I am hoping to get an IKEA detolf to replace her double bin cage soon.

This enclosure looks amazing! I need to make something like this as I’m hopefully getting my syrian hamster soon. My dwarfs Lilo and Stitch were just with me for foster placement for a few weeks they have now found their forever homes. Luckily I watch this channel or my hamsters would all be from the pet shop and in wire cages. But like I said perfect enclosure :)

Finally built my ikea detour with my neighbor and made a lifted roof so that is was suitable for a Syrian hamster! It was a lot of work but it looks great even if my parents dont quite approve of the size
I love this cage! I really want to build something for my Syrian just need to save up for the supplies, but this is definitely good for a large DIY if you don’t have a ton of money! Good old IKEA! :)
@@VictoriaRaechel i used the 120cm linnmon one (i think) and just bought glass separately,, so thats also another option as well if you wanted it to be slightly bigger:))
I unfortunately don't have the money and room to go and buy a tall tank. This helped me figure out I was gonna make a seperate burrowing box for whenever I am home. Thanks Victoria!

He now approves and we are going to make your DIY 1000+ square inch enclosure :) Heres a list of all the things (so far) we are getting •One 8 inch wheel •Over 4 hide outs •textured items •tunnels •chew toys •paper bedding with a little coco fibre •a sand bath •a play pen •robo dwarf (ofc) •treats and the food you recommended •sprays and flower+leaf mixes •travel carrier Also i know this is a lot, but i gotta say i love your vids so much, and i'm looking forward to a happy hamster, your feedback, and more hamster care! 🐹❤❤
Yay!! Great video! I definitely recommend having a buddy to help assemble the Linnmon. It makes things so much easier, but you did an awesome job with JJ as your buddy. Also, I discovered after making two of these, that ikea sells a 4 pack of casters for $13, after I spent double that at Home Depot 🤦♀️

You made it look so easy! When I put mine together, it was such a struggle. I also had to order glass from a glass making place and it came out larger than the rest of my cage.

I really want to make this, but I feel like I'll only be satisfied with a 1000 or more sq inch cage. Have your hamsters that have been housed in a 800 sq inch or larger cage, like the detolf, shown excessive stress symptoms?

my ham ham has a cage similar and she still wants nothing more than to escape x'D I scatter feed, she has so many chew toys, a sand bath, and even gave her paper pellet bedding for extra texture to walk on. She also has an 11" wheel.
My hamster had a prolapse we called 13 vets and when we finally found one and took her there they said there was nothing they could do I had to put her down. I feel so guilty the vet said it was just bad luck but she never even turned one. I miss her so much I had just got her a new toy and was giving it to her when I found her. I buried her with her favorite chew. Sorry for bringing down the mood but I had to vent.
So sorry for your loss. I recently lost my hamster to a respiratory infection and wet tail even with antibiotics it wasn’t enough to save her. Sometimes you just can’t save them and it’s not your fault. Rip
Something similar happened to my beautiful girl Melora a few years ago. It broke my heart. I have her ashes in a little casket by my bed. I miss her so much.
My hamster seems to be on his final day... Im so sad.... His name is Cookie and is 1 year and 8 months old. I knew it would come at some point even though part of me was hoping that he would gotten the chance to live longer.. I am just praying that he isn't in pain and will pass away in his sleep but I am so heartbroken 💔 I love him as much as when I first got him 😭

You made it look so easy! When I put mine together, it was such a struggle. I also had to order glass from a glass making place and it came out larger than the rest of my cage.

I really want to make this, but I feel like I'll only be satisfied with a 1000 or more sq inch cage. Have your hamsters that have been housed in a 800 sq inch or larger cage, like the detolf, shown excessive stress symptoms?
@@VictoriaRaechel Ok! I'm aiming for at least 800, but really going for 1000 or more, as I'm going to be spending a good deal of money on a diy cage, might as well make it as big as I can!! 😄
my ham ham has a cage similar and she still wants nothing more than to escape x'D
I scatter feed, she has so many chew toys, a sand bath, and even gave her paper pellet bedding for extra texture to walk on. She also has an 11" wheel.
My hamster had a prolapse we called 13 vets and when we finally found one and took her there they said there was nothing they could do I had to put her down. I feel so guilty the vet said it was just bad luck but she never even turned one. I miss her so much I had just got her a new toy and was giving it to her when I found her. I buried her with her favorite chew. Sorry for bringing down the mood but I had to vent.
So sorry for your loss. I recently lost my hamster to a respiratory infection and wet tail even with antibiotics it wasn’t enough to save her. Sometimes you just can’t save them and it’s not your fault. Rip

Something similar happened to my beautiful girl Melora a few years ago. It broke my heart. I have her ashes in a little casket by my bed. I miss her so much.
My hamster seems to be on his final day... Im so sad.... His name is Cookie and is 1 year and 8 months old. I knew it would come at some point even though part of me was hoping that he would gotten the chance to live longer.. I am just praying that he isn't in pain and will pass away in his sleep but I am so heartbroken 💔 I love him as much as when I first got him 😭
@@sarai1023 just cherish his last few moments. He can rest easy knowing he’s been loved. I know it’s hard but it will be okay. :(
