I owned 4 kindles-the basic, the signature, the oasis, and scribe. I used the oasis more because of the turn page buttons. I’ve bought it on Amazon Day for $150. I read the scribe at home because of the screen size, and I don’t need glasses 🤓 lol. I carried either the oasis or signature to work or places to read. I’ve forgotten where I put the basic because I don’t use it anymore. The oasis is my all time favorite kindle.
I think I’ve used my Oasis more than any other ereader I’ve had. I wish they’d switch the charging to USB-C, though!! That’s honestly my only real complaint about it at this point. I’m a little worried they’ll try to phase it out instead of making any improvements on it, which would be a shame.

bought the Oasis just in November 2023 and love it. Knew it came out a while ago and has an old charging port. Regardless, it's the best Kindle with those ergonomics and page turn buttons. Can't go back to a more uncomfortable design etc. One of my all-time favorite products.
I'm so glad you like it! Whenever I think about switching to a Paperwhite, the actual design of the Oasis stops me.
I just got an Oasis and the battery life is truly abysmal. For something that should have battery life of around a month’s usage, mine doesn’t last a day. I read more than the half hour a day assumption - maybe an average of 3 hours, but you’d assume I would still get a week’s battery life - especially since I keep it in airplane mode. I am going to speak to Customer Service to see if they want to send me another, otherwise I will return it. Breaks my heart because when it works, I love it.

I am the opposite. Although I still love a good book and the smell I cannot read on an iPad or computer. I prefer my Kindle to read on mainly due to the long reading periods are easier on the eyes and I can read when its dark with the LEDs. One of the best purchases I have ever made.
My question is, how is it on the eyes. I have the kindle 3 keyboard and I LOVE it because it is like an actual book. I tried the paper white and others and they exasperated my migraines with the backlight/blue light. It was worse than reading on my iPad. I can read on my iPad but not as much, I use the kindle 3. It’s still kicking after almost 11 years 😂😂🤩. But I want to buy something for an upgrade. I haven’t bought one that I’ve kept since 2011.
I really like it! It has settings for brightness and warmth and I have auto brightness enabled. I’m not sure how other people feel about the warmth beyond the midway point, but for me it gets too orange. It goes on a scale from 0-24 and I find 4-10 to be the most comfortable.

I personally keep my Kindle (Basic)'s light very low, like a 4 or 5 maybe, maybe even a 3. I've personally have amazing experience and it hurt my eyes less than actual books (I usually wear glasses but I need to get new ones soon)

If I run out of memory space on my Oasis and have to delete e-books, are they still available to me on my Kindle app to upload again if I want to reread a book? I'm considering buying a Kindle e-reader and I want to know that one thing. I can't find the answer anywhere. I want to make a digital collection of books, not read them and then toss them aside like toilet paper.
The way it works with Kindle is if you're buying them directly from Amazon, the ebooks are stored via cloud storage on your account and you can download them as you want to read them, then remove them from your device whenever you're done. If you're downloading ebooks from somewhere else and then uploading them to your Kindle, I'd recommend keeping a backup somewhere. Also, all of the current Kindle ereaders start at 8 gb of storage, which they vaguely say holds "thousands," but I couldn't get a specific number. I hope this helps!
@@hillareads Thanks. That does help a lot. I'm going to get a Kindle as soon as I get a job. I want one for when my books don't come in audio and I've ran out of room on my bookshelf, so this is a good option for me.

Are u able to transfer the books from computer or laptop to your oasis using its cable? It was not getting recognized on my laptop when i connected its cable to my laptop. 😢 and epub book format seems like it doesnt get supported on kindle..
I tried doing that once after they stopped supporting mobi files and it took WAY too many tries before it finally worked. At that rate, I wasn’t even sure which method worked because I had to step away and when I came back, the book happened to be in my library. Usually sending to my Kindle via an email address works, but not always 😖
Those buttons are great… but… that’s a lot of cash for buttons! Great video!
Actually... I have a Paperwhite as well as an Oasis. The Paperwhite is noticeably slower than the Oasis, has a smaller screen and, this is the most important feature for me, lacks auto settings for brightness and color temperature (temperature is not even available as a manual setting on the Paperwhite). Is it overpriced? YES! Do I regret my purchase? HECK, NO! :-)
It definitely is, and I wish they had prioritized the Voyager from a few years ago over the Paperwhite so people wouldn’t be having this dilemma. It seemed like a small and trivial upgrade until I actually used it, so I wish other models had that option as well. Thank you for watching! 😄
That’s pretty much where I’m at. It costs more than I think it should, but all of the extra features add up and make a significant difference!
Is it a coincidence that LoTR and Narnia are next to each other... But, kind of separated?
I didn’t even notice that, but it is a coincidence! My bookcases are separated by intended age audience (adult on the left and YA/children’s on the right) and then read vs unread from the top to bottom.
@@hillareads I simply thought it was funny. 1.. they are next to each other, since the authors were friends. But, 2. LoTR is a superior book (imo...I like both though), hence the slight separation.
If you listen to the audio version of Narnia... Patrick Stewart narrates The Last Battle, which is incredible... Especially since he makes donkey noises.
