Thanks so much, Steve. The funny thing is, I had never heard this song before, and even barely remembered the band Camel. Boy did I miss alot! The kudos go to the real musicians here, who just allowed me to drum along.
Thanks, Nick! Glad it was finally completed. (Wasn't sure for awhile there if it ever would be). I had never heard this song before, and barely remembered the band, Camel. But now, thanks to this collab, I've got a wealth of excellent 70's prog to mine!
And thanks again also, for putting my name out there for collaborations. I think you're the one who got me started doing these collabs. It's a Brave New World for me!
Excellent work! Very cool tune. Complex enough for only talented musicians. They just don’t produce music like this anymore. Nice work on the mix - crystal clear. Thanks for posting and sending.
Thanks, Tim. Likewise, a great HONOR and pleasure to work with you. As I stated before, I had concerns about doing the drums without a bass line, but you put those fears right to rest with a great rendition that perfectly complimented my own playing. Excellent work, Tim. Hope to work with you again!
Thanks, Joe! This one was a long time in the making, but well worth the wait, imo. Now, if we can just get 'Duke's End' out there....!
Way to go Dave and Co. Great tune executed perfectly by all I might add. Once again you are right in the pocket. Glad to see you connecting with such talent. Great effort all around.
Holy crap ! What an epic tune. You guys really kicked ass on this production. Excellent performance everyone !
Thanks right back for the appreciative comments!
Bravo to you all !! Excellent Dave, Mariano, Claudio and Ron. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. This was very well performed by all. It was very tight which is extremely difficult when you have several timing changes in a song of this magnitude. EL&P and Yes all rolled into a Camel. 10/10
Hi Dave! Long time no type... Wow, you're teamed-up with a great group of talent here, and your playing is, as always, spot-on! And this tune from the archives is such a nice departure from the mainstream stuff. Kudos to all!
Thanks so much! Great to bring back the old prog classics.
I had never heard this one either, until offered to drum to it. It's really a jam on 'Chord Change' with some music from 'Donkey Kong 2' thrown in near the end. Somehow, I missed Camel during the 70's/80's. Bought the CD. Good stuff. Thanks!
No, we're not making an album. The bass player and I are from the US. The keyboard and guitar players are brothers from Argentina. We all recorded our parts from the comforts of our own homes, then pieced it all together. None of us have ever met personally. (That STILL continues to amaze me! Gotta love technology and the Internet).
Thanks from all of us, Amy!
Cool tune - I haven't heard this track but it sounds awesome! Lots of time changes - really nice job by all.
Thanks from all of us, George! The cymbals from 2:30 on were a steady hi-hat ride baseline, with all of the others thrown in occasionally on top, as Camel drummer Andy Ward did. I didn't try to match him stroke for stroke obviously, but just tried to keep his original "colour", as you put it. Regarding the bass drum being louder, that was my fault. I sent the mix in whole, so if they brought up the levels for the bass drum, the rest of the kit would be too loud. My snare was too hot.
I'm game, if everyone else is. I only drum. They're the ones that make the music. Thanks!
Thanks Marshall! I'll pass that along to the other "sir's! They're the ones who carried the song.
Superb !
Great as usual. Always put 17drums on before and after a Toronto Maple Leaf game.
Great anticipation cures the depression HAHA
Love to here Dukes End
All The Best
Thanks Tom. Ever hear that song 'See You in November'? (Or was it September? But you know what I mean!)
Thanks!
ohhh for sure all solid music makers here!! are you guys going to be making an album , sound very tight together, question...are you guys making this recording from different parts of the country or area??
Thanks! (But it's the rest of the band that makes this video so great!)
So good to see - and listen - a so prefessional lefty drummer! Very fine, musical cymbal playing from 2:30. Guess was not hi-hat, but similar sounding and rythmically added a perfect sophisticated colour.
To me the drum can be a bit louder (bass drum eg.) - I say it not as a drumfan!, but as a general music lover - would make the whole even better. I suggest similar soundmix rates as eg. on Crimson's Red album in Starless. Anyway fine prog rock music.
Thanks! 'Do It Again' is shaping up to be a big production. The music is simpler, (well, my DRUM parts were easy), but the audio/video production under Joe and Sis is going to be amazing. And it'll be better than the original with the excellent guitar AND keys solos!
Thanks from the "band"! (Virtual).
this is fuckin fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
genios!!!
Gracias!
hey nice drumming !!!
Thanks Ron, I mean TIM! (Inside joke).
Obviously, that should read RON! (Or is it Tim at ronman3012)?! Joking! Sorry for my brain fail.
Where can I get the sheet music for this?
Try opensheets.org/sheet-music/chord-change/25292.html
Or sometimes, (most times actually), I'm just an idiot! Sorry again, Ron. (See my comments to Tim above!)
Great working with you for the first time Dave. You are a top-notch drummer for sure!
Thanks, but my name is Ron, not Tim. Sometimes my tinman3012 name causes that mixup.
Brill Guys, all around ;)
Amy M
Thanks, Mark!
Thanks!
I get the feeling Andy Ward is underrated. Great song, great playing!
+troublesomecorsair Agreed! I think the whole BAND is underrated.
Very nice!
