  • My friend Deb sent me some amazing patterns, fabric and notions! There are some great patterns for Brady and I, and watch for my reaction when I register how many sizes the Jalie patterns include! Have you ever sewn any of these patterns? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

I also have a few Stretch and Sew patterns for women for timeless, basic garments. I love the quality of the paper. In addition, I really like that the instructions come in a booklet. Overall, great quality patterns. Thanks for sharing your great gifts!

I remember those Stretch and Sew patterns from when my mom and I would go to Cloth World to pick out projects. Rugby shirts were very big even through the 80's and I made many of those. 😁 Sounds like you'll be having a lot of fun with your haul!

    Fantastic gift box!

What an amazing package to receive! I stumbled upon a bunch of Stretch + Sew patterns a few months ago and managed to limit myself to one. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm excited to. That Style Arc dress seems lovely. They are known for sparse instructions but I think with a simple dress like that you'll be fine... And thanks for the hot tip on the stacking discounts ☺️

Stretch and Sew operated from studios that sold their mostly cotton knit jersey fabrics, patterns, and their classes. I took many of their classes and still have some of their fabrics. I sewed rugby style shirts for my boys as they were growing up. They were cute and employed many great techniques. This was just before sergers became into being for home sewers. We were taught to sew seams with a narrow and short zig zag stitch. This technique still works. Also, we were taught to copy their patterns onto pattern paper and to adjust the size accordingly. I still have many of the patterns but haven't sewn them in recent years. It was the start of an era for modern sewing techniques. We hadn't sewn t-shirts and knits previously. Timeline? 70's and 80's?

Hi, I came over and subscribed from Dizzy quilts and sews. Such a fun box that you received! I sewed with Stretch and Sew in the 80's and loved their patterns!

  • @Sheri...

I just discovered you (& subscribed) thanks to Dizzy Quilts' recommendation.

StacyJ is awesome. I heard Style Arc instructions are sparse. I will be interested in finding out how you felt about their instructions.😅
