Oddly, I just watched you other video on installing one of these (the one without the USB C). Curious, how does one know what amp unit you'd need for the home?
From my research, they are offered in different amp options. Hence, my question. Thanks

This is amazing and super helpful! How do you it when the previous outlet had 2 white ones and 2 black ones instead of just 1 of each like yours? thanks!

Please don’t wrap your outlets in tape. I know people have very strong opinions about this, but it serves no practical purpose and could possibly hide minor problems that will turn into major problems like your house burning down. You know generally within about five years that tape loses all of its properties that make it electrical tape, and then it becomes some thing that could get hot or absorb moisture and also wrapping it twice negates the safety feature of the tape prematurely. I know he gave an example of not letting other wires touch the outlets hot and neutral but the wires that are in there should never in any way have that possibility The only time you should see electric tape in an outlet is when it is signifying which wire other than black is hot.

Replacing my kitchen outlet, the old outlet has black, white, RED, and ground. It is in a box along with two light switches. The light switches and outlet are connected to separate circuit breakers. I completely understand where to connect the white, black, and ground, but where does the red connect to? My thinking was with the black, but the circuit jumps when I turn it on. FYI, the outlet never had a light switch connected to it.

What if I don’t have a ground wire? I have an old 2 prong outlet.

You can also plug in a small desk lamp, turn it on and then check if the power is off when you cut the breaker. The problem with these devices is not all manufactures use the same fast charge circuitry and you will be relegated to standard slow charge. Putting electronics in the wall puts points of failure in the wall, and will likely be obsolete in 2 years.

*NEVER trust a "Non-contact Voltage Meter" by itself for verifying a live circuit. ALWAYS check with a MULTIMETER*
sometimes these devices fail and when it does, you may end up dead.

I got one of those for my kitchen but there an extra red cable

In a three-conductor cable, the extra wire is red, and it's almost always used as a hot wire. When you see a red wire in a 120-volt duplex outlet box, it's usually because one of the outlets is operated by a wall switch, while the other is always on. The red wire is for the light switch.

I was thinking of the same thing most people will come across a chained outlet.

Yes it will be okay some outlets come with two ports hole to connect the extra wire in some power boxes in walls you can have both white wire on the neutral side and both black on the hot wire side and then the ground should be okay

That's only if you have 4 wires. If you only have 2, the side connections are better, which is what he did in this video.
