Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?
Now we realise metal jacket over red flannel is actually the yellow flannel
We need a conversion chart stat
But what about Tyler’s last Grinch EP? He wore the same outfit, but still gave it a 3.
Exceptions persist in the melon dimension
New Yellow fannel
@@lakshyaprasher132 ur mom also exists there
An 8 with the red flannel? Wait, thats illegal.
Yeah but the metal jacket counters it, so its fine
cjh3005 yea ive seen his older reviews but I thought he made the flannel scores melon law by now
The Metal Jacket is a shield
Burial's Kindred was rated 8 and iirc in the video he was wearing the red flannel
He wore the same flannel/jacket combo in that Sleater-Kinney Classic Week review.

HAHA! PRANKED! lets see a slow-mo replay of your reaction on flannel-cam!
THE INTERNET’S TRICKIEST NERD
I loved this mixtape so I got super nervous when I saw the red flannel. Thank God I don’t have to change my opinion now
Baithony baittano
It's the napalm death shirt
Am I the only one who thinks this is one of the most creative and cutting edge projects they’ve heard in a super long time? Feeling a decent to strong 9 myself
Noah Schippers yes especially if you see all the traps he got himself into in regard to the mixtape. He also reinvented his sound specifically because he thought people stole his sound. Very impressive IMO.
this mixtape is what separates himself i think. very experimental and we hear a lot of unique sounds/ rhythms that make this mixtape stand out. coupled with the mixtape visualizer this project really makes u realize how much of an artist flume really is
Same. This album was life changing for me.
imo: strong 9 in terms of creativity for flume's ability to pretty much say "fuck you" to every single 'rule' in edm at the time, but still come up with a coherent album that sounds amazing.
but when you consider things like its replay value and just the overral noisy vibe that some people may not like, i think the light 8 is a fair review, especially for someone who i know isn't into edm music.
Cool bit of info about this new Flume project:
The official opening track, "Ecdysis", after the intro, means "the process of shedding the old skin".
He's evolving from his last album, "Skin".
yoo that's crazy...😨 thanks for sharing
AWWWWW THANKS, SONS CRYING NOW
ElectricHawk thanks for the info
Lmao you fuckin copied this comment from the main vid
pousXB i learned it and shared it in my own way, not really anything original to copy since it's a simple google.
2 years later and I’m honestly feeling a strong 9 to a 10 on this one
The only vinyl I've ever bought. I don't even have a record player-
A 10 for me I love this album with my life
even after almost 3 years listening to the entire mixtape still gives me goosebumps. Flume is without doubt one of the best, if not the best electronic music artist ever.
@@96flows73 I love flume but OPN is arguably the GOAT electronic musician.
@@96flows73 alright, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here…
listen to aphex twin if you wanna learn about your favorite artist’s favorite artist.
A red flannel for an 8/10? Geez game designers, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING

His intro name is flashing colors... IS HE THE POLICE!?
this review is a bunch of poopy ass drippings covered in faeces
MCBeastiness ...poured over a fat girls tiddies
*sighs* looks like you’re the music guy now *hangs up phone*
The song transitions are some of the best I’ve ever heard, i didn’t even notice when new tracks came in. I thought “damn this song is so long but it’s really good” and then I checked my phone and saw that I’ve listened to five tracks already.
The people here haven’t heard or seen really good edm shows live and this shows it lol
@@benkauffman7054 are you attempting to shame people for not being avid EDM listeners? Bit odd
@@user-vg1tt3vg9y shame them? Wtf? I’m saying there’s more where that came from and this isn’t rare if you expand your horizons.
@@benkauffman7054 I think it's also worth noting that this project succeeded at creating an experience that felt like each song was a continuation of that last, not just a neat and seemless transition. Electronic sets usually aren't going for the former, and usually are going for a more long-form narrative with creative transitions between each track
Peggy and SOPHIE on the same mixtape? We really are in the future!
classic
Don't forget Slowthai
thought you ment peggy gou lol
They both produced on big fish theory as well!
DAMNNNNN PEGGYYYYYYY
Easily Flume's best project ever.
No question
Agree, plus the other projects aren't exactly settings a low standard
Scott Grant Maybe, maybe, maybe
Honestly thought it was horrible. Only good song is jewel
Genuinely could not get into this, it undoubtedly does flow well together and suits the visualiser but it's just a bit grating imo
Gave Flume an 8 for JPEG and SOPHIE, I see
Boi you better put some respek on eproms name
💯
The 8 fo today

But not for arca
My top 3 favorite albums
This guy knows what's up. Immaculate production.
Turn that red upside down, now it's yellow
That would be green
Harvard: Nigga you want a scholarship?
Holy shit it's Tupac
I'm sad to say I flipped my phone to see if it would work
You know I didn't like this album at first but after you told me what to think this album is really like this now
how could you not like this album what
OVXX it’s just not like his old music I like that this experimental sound is weird to me but maybe it’ll grow on me I really do like flume
@@Keithamiller hmm yeah its not for everyone ig. i love idm, esp when its blended in with some hip hop. this album really does it right. some songs like that first one is still undeniably very flume
I liked the album when I first heard the premiere live on UA-cam, but as I listened to all of the songs from this album from time to time and it's now my favorite album of not yearly but all time
RED FLANNEL ON A LOVED LIST TAPE?!? Truly melon has lost his mind

Anthony probably got ranch cream on his yellow flannel.
So he fixed this up last minute...
That doesnt sound vegan
Yeah, we all know how tough it can be to get "ranch cream" stains out sometimes...
Follow Your Heart has great vegan ranch cream
😏
@@Marco-er4ql you got what I meant
8/10 but no yellow flannel
I'm having trust issues now
The metal jacket + red flannel = yellow flannel now
It's not unpredecented, really. What IS unprecedented is a red flannel for a 8/10
Imma let you finish but
That was Kučka singing lead on Voices, SOPHIE was co-producer
Gabriel Sinclair I love the metallic hits that she adds to the song. It’s so unique and was one of my favorite sounds littered across her album
@@MrCalist3r Oh god yes, instantly recognisable production. Un-insides was fantastically jarring.
god damn melon I love you for this one
Literally the first thing after i stopped gushing all over this mixtape was hoping fantano would give his 2 cents on it
The Peggy song was fucking insane. I was headbobbing until I had brain damage
That Instagram meme really predicted it huh?
Was just thinking I’d like to see u review this, searched it up, and it was uploaded 10mins ago. Awesome
I actually liked Skin a lot but this project is something else
Skim is underrated and people are only realising it bow. Thw fact that at the timw they got pissed because they were expecting something less comertial, and the album ahould be rearengwd for shure, the order of the songs i mean. Appart from that almost all aongs are great, appart from like 2 songs, and to have at least 14 good songs should already make it worth it
YOU BAITED US WITH THE RED SHIRT
Hi, Flume here, the industry's busiest music producer
Red Flannel on thumbnail
but ultimately a positive score:
“They had us on the first half not gonna lie.”
Thanks for introducing me to this mixtape/artist! The 'visualizer' they made for the project is amazing!
strong 10
This mixtape was super weird for me when I first heard it. At the time I heard it I came away from it thinking (okay that's cool, I guess). Fast forward a year and a half from then as in now. I think it's the single most creative electronic album that flume has ever created. It's just endless vibes that you really can't ever get sick of. It feels more like a transcendental experience listening to it now for some reason, but before it felt kind of too experimental. Idk man all I know is that my liking for the album changed somehow in the time period.
that's the thing with these experimental edm artists coming out, you'll listen to it once and kinda think it's weird at first because there is so much going on but when you listen over and over again you find more and more details that might've been glossed over on your first listen.
It really is a masterpiece in a way that you can listen to it for years and still find something new and interesting.
It takes very long time to get sick of compared to a lot of other music, I've got a lot of love for projects and sounds that are presented in this way :))
@@skinnyhobo5166 Well said. It's rare to find artists that talented and having the sound designs that brings you back over & over again. I love witchhouse a lot because of that, There's so many amazing witchhouse artists.
I have never related so much to something. It feels like you wrote this for me
my exact thoughts haha
I saw the red flannel and was triggered lmao
It's not a deep experience if you only hear the music. The visualizer tells a lot about what's going on. I might be nuts but I think this work tell the story of his life. Walking alone, trying to help someone, being stuck and burying yourself in the sand (you can tell the other side of him also feels sort of a pleasure by being supressed because of the honey). The missing pieces in his puzzle... It's everything there. I found it a solid 5/7
i think it represents what its like to drive home high and how long it seems to take
I just heard Melon say woah Kenny
My life is complete
Anthony you reviewed it!! I'm so happy
Just watched Hi This is Flume and the 40 video for it. Incredible as a whole project with the visuals.
This project is insanely good. Well done to Flume and all others involved.
Shocked u didn’t like amber as much! One of my favorites in the project

Good to see Fantano shoutout Eprom, maybe we'll get a Shades/Eprom review in the future *wishful thinking*
holy shit please, In Praise Of Darkness is so good
Thanks for adding the pre-review n word chants to the video Anthony! Good to see a behind the scenes look of you before each review
Really nailed this review!
Heard he had isolated himself for this project (whether to avoid industry influence or develop his sound). I'm glad.
I would say that the audio is only half of this albums experience. Watching the "Mixtape Visualizer" really makes this a fascinating project
Rianthony Johnsontano here, your expectations' busiest subverter.
Its like poetry
Heyy my name is rian
This “Mixtape” will DEFINITELY sell tickets. I (and probably many other Flume fans) want to see this live so bad
This was one of my favorite releases in a long time.
Loved the album, purchased the record. Can't wait!
So the red flannel is hidden behind a jacket? Does this mean that you like this album but you secretly want him to die?!? Oh this is so confusing!!!
The red flannel has taken control of melons body like a symbiote. He can only try to hide it now
How do you not know how to spell red
No it's not because it doesnt matter
Ok y’all this is a strong 9 to a light 10 for me
really dug this album, was weary about your review when I saw red flannel. the slowthai verse is insane
just read the description. amber is one of my favourites, its funny that he put it at the bottom. those synth chords really are amazing
Please review more electronic albums! I would love to see you cover Getter's Visceral or G Jones' the Ineffable Truth!
This is a 10
I am literally listening to the mixtape, and this is uploaded
Love this one!
trickstony uphissleevetano really thinkin about how to fuck with our expectations in the thumbnail with that beet-red flannel of his
Mr Fantano, your self-admitted envy of Flume’s full head of hair does NOT justify the 6-minute spiel about the upcoming race war
Wow your descriptions are so visual
I was listening to this in the car the other day and I just knew you would give it an 8. I liked it a lot as well. Please review the new Tamaryn album!
still the best
I was just reading the tweet where you said you would review this today and the notification popped up, I am cursed.
Glad you liked it! I think I'm not quite as high on it as you are, but it's certainly enjoyable and interesting. There are just a few tracks that I found to be a bit generic in terms of their melody and chord progressions, giving me the feeling that I'd heard them before. Mostly it's a fun and inventive project!
So far, this is my favorite release of the year.
Nice Vinyl in the Back! Black Sabbath is awesome 👏🏻
You should’ve saved the Red Flannel & 8/10 combo for April Fools Day
Little did he know, billie got said treatment
Almost 5 years later and this mixtape still sounds fresh and unique. 9/10 imo
Man, the flannel is throwing away all theneedledrop lore!
I almost had an attack seeing that red flannel in the thumbnail, damn Melon.
Honestly, a fucking incredible mixtape. Also Amber was one of my favorites from the album lol
Was going to comment on how I didn’t expect much anyway but now I have to enjoy the album 🤯
now this puts a smile on my face
Jacket + Red Flannel + a bit of MDMA = yellow flannel
It’s weird hearing Anthony say transition in one word at 6:34
Glad Flume & I’s sound is getting some recognition!
this mixtape is an instant classic
Make sure to do some research and review Slowthai's album when it drops in May pls
yo he just reviewed it the other day
Guys, come on. Refer to the apparel equation:
Red Flannel - (Metal Jacket + Black T Shirt) = Yellow Flannel
Scruffel wrong he’s worn this before and it was negative
This is def one of my favorite albums of the year so far
Is it cold in the water on this is SO good, love Sophie
I honestly would of given it a full 10
kenny beats better use that tag on a single.
especially on a cal chuchesta single.
You really got me with that red flannel
This mixtape got me back into flume
Yoooooo melon you need to listen to more slowthai you will like him once you get over his UK accent
You gotta listen to Shades if you fw this melon. EPROM and Alix Perez are on another level.
Iv literally emailed this dude like three times now telling him to review shades/eprom (new stuff) . Fantwon turned me on to eprom when he reviewed metahuman and He’s been my favorite artist ever since .
I listened to paranoid today. Nice!
Love this mixtape, pretty sweet.
Fantano you better review Slowthai and his album when it releases

what would the predicted rating be for an album if fantano wore no shirt at all?
New La Dispute album dropped Anthony! I know you're into them, and they're my favorite band, so I'm looking forward to your review of it.

Nyx other two?
nova official. Lol big nope
@@NoahDitlefsen get the fuck out
Top 1.
lol
I'm not at all surprised by the direction flume has gone in. The majority of Skin's songs were somewhat experimental, with only Never Be Like You purely commercial.
Flume is at his best when the vocals take a backstage and he lets his amazing talent at building progression.
Wall Fuck, while probably the least commercial song of Skin, is incredible in how it takes two completely alien strings and weaves them into a conclusion rivaling Jamie XX's Gosh.
But even then it's so experimental it borders on not being complete. The first time I heard Skin I thought he'd benefit from another 6 months of tuning and I think this album has gone even further into experimental snippets which IMO is a bit of a shame. He's never done long songs but I'd love to see what he could build with a 7min goal and commitment to that build like 2012 Flume.
Bro Amber is my favorite. At about 40 seconds in, when it transitions into that heavenly gliding synth, shit gets me
Did not expect Peggy on this one but it was a pleasant surprise
Amber kinda reminds me of Elle by SOPHIE.
LISTEN TO ME MELON IF AMERICAN FOOTBALL'S LP 3 HAS A 8/10 I WILL CRY
