I completely disagree that Yessir Whatever is the better starting point for people just getting hip to Lord Quas, and it's by no means the most cohesive album. The Unseen is a better starting point
The reason I started listening to him (which I started listening to him yesterday) was because my uncle gave my brother some vinyls years ago and I have been looking for new music and started really looking for music about a year and a half ago but back to the story I ran across one of his albums “the unseen” which I thought had a pretty cool cover for the album and decided to listen to it and had no regrets I also listened to his album “yessir whatever” and it was amazing I saw this video because I searched him up and went through video after video looking for reviews and stuff and found this
damn bro really said FAoLQ not worth the video lol it’s not my favorite by any means but you do get some absolute heat off that album: maingirl, shroom music, strange piano, another demo tape, bartender say, hydrant game and to a lesser extend bus ride is good but the skits are a little o.d.
You’re totally right. It’s pretty tough to condense a whole discography into the tiny videos I make lol (especially those of Quas’ magnitude). The more I think about my picks, I did kinda mess up on dissing FAoLQ. It really does have some great cuts
i remember the first time i've heard Quas like it was yesterday. i was around 8-9 yo at my friends house playing thps2 on ps1 and his older brother played "Basic Instinct" out of nowhere. bro. that moment probably changed my entire life. prior to this i've heard some rap music but it didn't leave any significant impact on me. Shit, but this track, i was completely captivated, intrigued but also a little bit scared (those pitched vocals man, i thought that this guy sounds like this). that was the start for me and i'm eternally grateful. I remember picking up The Further Adventures of Lord Quas when I was like 13-14. I was blown away and shocked by the production and hearing a side of hip hop that I was not familiar with. It was definitely a good choice!
