    (Also playable on Game & Watch Gallery 4)
    You play as John Solver and you have to retrieve bombs located inside a maze inside a manhole. (There may be multiple bombs in one level, you only have to stop one.) The bombs were planted by Dynamite Jack. (As witnessed by a policeman.) Failing to do so will result in the bomb exploding and a loss of a life. You also lose a life if you get squished by a wall in the Game A scrolling mazes.
    Game A: You have 50 seconds to defuse the bombs (by pressing the direction the bomb is in) in 10 pre-determined mazes. After that, there is a scrolling section that you must go through in order to reach the last bomb. Defusing the last bomb triggers the ending scene. The game starts over with 10 more pre-determined mazes played.
    Game B: You start with 40 seconds to defuse the bombs in 15 randomly generated mazes. Defusing 15 bombs triggers the ending scene. After that another 15 mazes are played, but 4 seconds are decreased from the time limit. (First 36, then 32, then 28, etc. until you have 4 seconds left.)

    This might be one of the more entertaining game and watch games. I don’t think they made much use of the too screen though

    Thanks for that... I loved this game... I was so hooked.. I got to the 5 sec mark on both levels A + Bswear to God it did my head in..BUT LOVED IT ALL THE SAME.. Had the game 5yrs couldn't crack or pass the 5sec timer/level... it was then stolen which totally broke my heart. I managed to get another for $60 from a Pawn shop then lost it 6mths later...1997.. when I'd seen you not complete both level A+B with a score of 2005 I got so anus...hahaha screaming at you... I hope you do another video and get up to the 5sec mark... I'd die a happy Woman if you pass that... I'm 51yrs old now and still love that game... thanks for the video all the same...

      Thank you, glad you enjoyed! Apologies for the 3 month late reply. I unfortunately am not skilled enough to reach the 5 sec mark in Game B without the use of save states. Thankfully if you're willing play Bomb Sweeper, MAME is an option. Physical copies are difficult to find in mint condition these days.

      Was it as so fast as 5 sec it went, I remembered that it did not level anywhere after 4000 on Game B my high score was 11648 (starts from 0 after 9999 bot not the level : ) )remember that I was blown up for the first time 11500 around there then I had no concentration left. then i was 15 just beat my record from when is was 10 think that was the reason : )

    This actually looks really fun. Seems like one of those games I could totally ace/cheese the hell out of if only I had a chance to try it...

    The upper screen is only for the story.
    Nintendo has not changed one bit since then.

    Would buy another but heck, pay $220-400 for it with no GUARANTEE it works is kinda very risky investment, so I will just watch your video for a BUZZ and game fix... lmao

    That was a great game I played over 30 years ago. I can't remember whether it actually had an end or whether it would just repeat itself and increase in speed.

    I like how some arcade versions have the same levels (flipped or upside down)

    You're quite good at this. I couldn't work out why you can get trapped sometimes or how to avoid it. Feels a little like Minesweeper with guesswork

    • @old80s59

      Thanks man, although the moment at 12:21 was a total brain fart because I didn't notice the bomb wasn't blocked by a wall until a few seconds later.

    • @piranhaplant4966
      @piranhaplant4966 5 років тому +1

      Sometimes I get lucky and get there fast but sometimes I get trapped too, every wall is movable but they won't be moved if there is another wall in its way. Because it is on a grid its sometimes hard to tell if a wall moves or not, and sometimes you can push a wall into the wrong spot and then you'll end up trapped

    • @old80s59
      @old80s59  5 років тому +2

      @@piranhaplant4966 It's worse on Game B because the maze layout is random no matter how many times you restart the game. It makes it hard because sometimes you think you are doing something right, only to find out you trapped yourself.

    Why is this a dual screen game? Surely it would work with just one.

    • @old80s59
      @old80s59  4 роки тому +6

      It would, but maybe they decided to add cutscenes so they made it a dual screen game with cutscenes at the top and gameplay at the bottom.

      Because it tells the story, kinda engaging actually, and it gives you direction what you're supposed to do (defuse bombs planted by the villain). I had this as a kid. This title is actually a really good puzzle game compared to other electronic games of the era. Game play is easy to learn, it actually has levels and it gives decent challenge. It has a lot of replaying value. When I was kid, I used to play this hours end during holiday trips.

      No room for a score/time on the main screen.

    • @XZeroOneArmour
      @XZeroOneArmour 2 роки тому +1

      & dual screens were always more moolah than the single wide screens, so there was a 'greed' uhh.. marketing approach also applied to the double screen logic from Nin.
