CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Captain Etienne Navarre (Rutger Hauer) tells Phillipe (Matthew Broderick) of his quest and explains why they need to stick together.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In medieval France, knight Rutger Hauer and lady fair Michelle Pfeiffer both run afoul of evil-bishop John Wood. Through the auspices of bishop's confessor Leo McKern, Hauer and Pfeiffer are placed under a curse. During the night, Hauer takes the form of a wolf, while Pfeiffer assumes the form of a hawk by day. The two lovers can only meet one another as humans at dawn and dusk. The only mortal in a position to rescue Hauer and Pfeiffer from their fate is nebbishy pickpocket Matthew Broderick, who acts as liaison between the lovers. With the help of the guilt-ridden McKern--and a convenient solar eclipse--Broderick endeavors to set things aright.

One of the best scenes in the film. RIP, Rutger Hauer. You were brilliant and beautiful in this movie.
You'll always be in my heart, Captain. RIP Rutger Hauer.
Ditto!
Captain Etienne Navarre,we'll never forget you 💙
Etienn was my hero till i remember. Great movie, great characters. RIP Rutger. World was better because of you.
"And does this walking corpse have a name?" One of the driest one liner in movie history.
“...I talk to god all the time, and no offense but he never mentioned you.” Perfect.
A reply that should be made to every sanctimonious blowhard throughout history.
That kind of dry humor so rare to be expressed well!
RIP Rutger
Rip dear Rutger...still can see your young face in Bladerunner...where you put all of them into the shadow...even and H Ford...🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷❤
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."
@@kecenavrtep I have seen things you people wouldn't believe. A woman changing into a bird. A bishop cursing two lovers. A night without a day, and a day without a night. Time... to change and end it.
Navarre has very convincing manners.
Master of etiquette and diplomacy
I think this is my favorite of all Matthew Broderick’s movies.
This and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
RIP Rutger Hauer (you can really hear his original accent here.)
And it fits well, as with actually pretty much all his roles. Doesn't have to sound distinctly American/Brittish right?
@@LosrandirDutch accent
This is one of my favourite scenes in the movie!!!.
This is my favorite of Matthew Broderick's roles.
Same. Funny and cowardly, but also capable of courage, empathy, and devotion. Some people feel his behavior's anachronistic but I think he does a great job keeping the film from being too heavy or melodramatic
I prefer David Lighman, but you are right. He is great in this role. I can not understand why he never was even nominated for an academy award.
The mouse that roared...
Probably the best version of an RPG rouge out there.
he seems miscast
Hlavně je to nádherná pohádka!Tenkrát když jsem viděl premiéru v televizi, byl to hrozně krásný den!Hned bych to vrátil!
2:20 - I knew he would see it the Captain's way.
I wonder if Rutger Hauer was an inspiration for The Witcher novels series ? Just imagine him as Geralt...
Close, but Guts from Berserk.
That wonderful moment when Roy Batty mentored Simba/Ferris Beuller!
RIP Rutger Hauer!
Ahhh, the good old days, when they would throw real swords inches from actors..
rutger hauer my favorit actor
Ferris Bueller starring in Ladyhawke.
Much as I love this scene and this movie, I have to say that's the dullest blade every wielded, considering how often both men keep grasping it firmly by its edges.
You can do that safely-some medieval fighting books even used it as a specific technique. Though they'd probably have to be more careful than they are here.
Magic, excitement, drama, action, fantasy, thrills, and adventures. A quest is a journey that leads you on the road to greatness and to your destiny. Everyone has their goals to reach in order to accomplish something in return. I love fairies and magic, always have and always will 🧚🧚♂🧚♀
why is no one mentioning an actual sword was thrown right next to Matthew?
I wanna know how they did that scene
Bring back the family weapon tradition.
I watched this movie as a kid, and in the Italian translation the bishop is from Aiguillon (France), not from Aquila, which is in Italy, near to
where some scenes took places!
I think this is one of Matthew Broderick's best performances.
Mathew Broderick...hermosa actuacion ..los tres actores sensacionales, transmiten emocion y dolor❤🩵💚
This movie absolutely begs to have a new soundtrack written for it. It could be based on the original APP soundtrack, but get rid of the electro-rock feel and replace it with sweeping strings. On another note, I always wanted to know how they got that sword to stick in the tree.
Especially in this scene I understand why Christopher Walken was sometimes picked for Rutgers' roles (James Bond's Max Zorin)
2:35 No words needed....
La mejor película ❤amo esta maravillosa y extraordinaria historia
they should have made a sequel with ethan hawke
I want to see the sword come to life, like one of these fanisy arms channels need to make one.
I'd buy it for sure!
Deserves a reboot.
Claudio Lima
If they do, hope they will do the justice it deserves
NO. leave the classics alone ffs
Agreed don't need shitty remakes like 2016 Ben Hur or whatever omghhhh...Ladyhawke is one of those films that has aged surprisingly well.
Don’t touch it. Part of me would die. Today’s stars couldn’t perform at this caliber the drunken priest was awesome.
@Claudio Lima
You have no heart.
I love this clip. But I wonder how it would play out with different actors. W.C. Fields in place of Matthew Broderick, for instance.
Rutger Hauer: I must kill a man.
W.C. Fields: Does this walking dead man have a name?
R.H.: His Grace, the Bishop of Aquila
,pause>
W.C. Fields: The Bishop, I see. /well, then you have much to do……
Yes, that works for me 😄
I really enjoyed this movie it was great. However I didn't agree with the soundtrack the electric guitars the sentence sizer effects didn't fit. a good soundtrack should follow the actors good drummer follows the vocalist traditional instruments would have been sufficient.
Caricatelo in italianooooooo 😂😂😂
:(
So sexi and handsome Rutger in this movie!!! l love ettiene navarre ❤❤❤❤
@
matthew brodericks acting in this scene is awful 😂
RIP Rutger
