Personally, I think it's time to start dropping Trout in the rankings. Last full season was 18 or 19 (not counting 2020 though he played a "full season"). He's not getting younger and his inability to be on the field has to be taken into consideration. Would like to see him stay healthy, especially with a freed up DH spot, but it's just going to be harder and harder for him to put up top 10 numbers

Ranking Ohtani at #1 only works if you are ranking him as both a hitter AND a pitcher. As a DH he is not a Top 5 player. Acuna, Betts, Soto, Judge, Freeman are all better hitters than Ohtani. The only way he is #1 is if you factor in his pitching as well

Put Yordan at 1B. DH abreu. He's the best power pure power hitter in the league. Missed almost 50 games and STILL put up the 2nd highest ops+, near 1.000 OPS. And what most guys would consider a career year. 35+ HR, near 100 rbi, walks a ton. Laser beam arm. Only 24 years old.
Ranking Trout over Soto is insane. Mike Trout has officially become the most overrated player in baseball. Hasn’t played a full season in a few years now and his OPS+ was lowest in his career last year…..defense has also gotten a lot worse…..he’s still top 50 level player but he’s not top 10 anymore
Baseball is variable. People have down years, even the most consistent players like Betts didn't have a great 2021. It'd be a pretty boring and reactionary list if it was just based on last season's performance. Sure, it's possible Mike Trout has really lost it, but it's not insane at all to give him the benefit of the doubt given his history.
I mean, Yordan doesn’t even play the field for over half his games. Plus Soto is younger and they’ve actually been pretty similar hitters through their careers as well. Soto also tends to play more games.

Ranking Ohtani at #1 only works if you are ranking him as both a hitter AND a pitcher. As a DH he is not a Top 5 player. Acuna, Betts, Soto, Judge, Freeman are all better hitters than Ohtani. The only way he is #1 is if you factor in his pitching as well

Put Yordan at 1B. DH abreu. He's the best power pure power hitter in the league. Missed almost 50 games and STILL put up the 2nd highest ops+, near 1.000 OPS. And what most guys would consider a career year. 35+ HR, near 100 rbi, walks a ton. Laser beam arm. Only 24 years old.
Judge is the best pure power hitter in the league. Not a knock on Yordan but Judge missed 8 more games and hit 6 more homers with a higher OPS

Hasn’t played a full season in a few years now and his OPS+ was lowest in his career last year…..defense has also gotten a lot worse…..he’s still top 50 level player but he’s not top 10 anymore

Baseball is variable. People have down years, even the most consistent players like Betts didn't have a great 2021. It'd be a pretty boring and reactionary list if it was just based on last season's performance. Sure, it's possible Mike Trout has really lost it, but it's not insane at all to give him the benefit of the doubt given his history.

I mean, Yordan doesn’t even play the field for over half his games. Plus Soto is younger and they’ve actually been pretty similar hitters through their careers as well. Soto also tends to play more games.
