Saw Föllakzoid at Primavera Sound in 2014. Incredible show and we saw a lot of bands that day. Stoked to find your channel here Dennis. Jonas from SublimMedia one of the old guard in the VC advised you had a channel so I got some catching up to do. My album of the year was Rid of Me - Access To The Lonely. From Philly. Itarya Rosenberg is a powerhouse on vocals and bass. Band born from Fight Amp and Low Dose. Great heavy diverse band. And Itarya works at Softwax Record Pressing so pressed her own records which is also very cool.
Food for Worms by Shame is probably my favorite of the year. I bought it on vinyl and it is easily my most listened to album on Spotify. I also have to add the Vannis Kasino album is also one of my favs; I was lucky to snag one of the first copies of the vinyl!
I was unfamiliar with Follakazoid until hearing about them on your list. From your description, they sounded right up my street. So I checked out V... and I LOVE it! It's metronomic trance-inducing piece-in-four-parts transported me to an inner space that I didn't want to leave! I did, though, long enough to write this ..and thank you for talking about Follakzoid, and for your great insights on the rest of the best of 2023! Happy Holidays!
5. 'Death Pill' by Death Pill 4. 'Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle' by Moonlight Sorcery 3. 'Yallah Beibe' by MC YALLAH 2. 'Sator Arepo' by Judgitzu 1. 'Seasons Dreaming Death' by GraveRipper
Hi Dennis. INVSN is my favorite band of 2023 but Fake Names album is my go to for over 3 months now. Great record! Samurai is also super cool. I'm waiting for more ... All albums are great basically. You nailed it. Cheers!
Agree wholeheartedly on Cave/Ellis, Crime & the City Solution and Swans. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the new Depeche Mode record, I particularly loved the four tracks Richard Butler co-wrote.
Great tips as always!! I leave my favorites below: Zulu "A New Tomorrow" The Night Eternal "Fatale" Wucan "Heretic Tongues" came out in May 2022, but in 2023 they released a live record "Live At Deutschlandfunk", very raw and showing that the band has a future. Iggy Pop "Every Loser" Baroness "Stone" GODFLESH "Purge" Metallica "72 Seasons" King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard "PetroDragonic Apocalypse" Depeche Mode "Memento Mori" Crosses "Good night, God bless, I love you, delete"
I'll have to check out some stuff on the list. Liked the Iggy recored but not really top ten material for me. Zulu will probably make the next list which is Punk and Hardcore of 2023 cause that records KILLS!!!
Cool list! Haven't listened to any of your top 3, so I'll definitely have to check those out (and the Christian Kjellvander album too). Absolutely agree on the new Blodet album being amazing, though personally I was not super into either the new Swans or Depeche Mode, but both are still good solid albums of course. My personal pick for the best of the year is either Blodet or Dødheimsgard - hard to choose between the two. Other than that, I also loved the new albums by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Algiers, Fire! Orchestra, Ett dödens maskineri, Xiu Xiu, and HMLTD. And if we're counting the INVSN EP as 2023 then that too (I think it came out digitally at the end of last year though). I enjoyed the Vännäs kasino album a lot too - really glad that I managed to grab the vinyl before they sold out (I think there were only 4 left in stock on Bandcamp when I ordered mine, so I almost missed it).

I had No Idea about a new crime&the City solution, how did that get sneak past me?? American Twilight was insanely good. My favourite of 2023 was probably The Beggar. And Wreckless Eric - leisureland I Wish you and your wife peaceful Holidays and a magnificent 2024.
Loved the new work you’ve released (Expendables/ Samurai/ INVSN) as well as , The Swans ‘The Beggar’, The Mars Volta, ACOUSTIC Self-titled, Avishai Cohen ‘Iroko’, King Gizzard ‘Petrodragon…’, and… Sleepytime Gorilla Museum dropped a couple of singles which I have been waiting for since their last album forever ago.
Barry Andrews is still making fantastic music with Shriekback. Some Kinds of Light from 2019 is as good as their mid-80s classics like Jam Science and Oil and Gold.
Cracking reviews ....picked up some must buys and check out playlist. Thank you.

Thanks for checking out the channel. And I’ll have to check out your best of the year albums!!
Tusen tack för all fantastisk musik!
Hi Dennis.
Have you heard last album by Brutus “Unison life” and what is your opinion? Thank so much for your channel.
Best wishes to 2024z
I haven’t listened to it yet. Like Brutus. They opened up for Refused a couple of years ago. Cool band.
Been waiting for this. Thanks for a great year, of great music, Dennis.

'Kismet' by Nicole Sabouné was one of my faves this year.
Anyone can tell me the name of the chilean space rock band? I can't understand how it is spelled
Follakzoid. Or föllakzoid.
@@Dennisdeepcuts Thank you very much and thank you for the list!
