Hey Steve and Alex! Been watching your videos since we bought our very first home in December, and can honestly say that you have helped us so much by showing how things are done. I absolutely love your channel and your commitment to quality work! Superb!! Thanks guys!
Thanks very much , it’s always Really nice to hear that our channel is helping people . 🙏🏽😁🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild You’re more than welcome! 😃🧱

Chaps, for the issues with the GoPro. It's amazing how many UA-camrs mention problems with their GoPros. To the extend where one has to seriously consider switching to a different brand. I personally use a Sony AS200V. Had it for years, and filmed all of my DIY projects with it. Never missed a beat. I also know that a lot of other UA-camrs use them, cause they are very good. Better image quality than the GoPro, and much more rubust hardware. Great sound quality too! (whilst still being completely waterproof). So I'd highly recommend looking at some of the Sony models. They also have cheaper options, if the As200V is outside your budget range :)
Too late 😬🧱👍🏽
Hi guys.I am a big fan of You.Thanks to yours videos I have learned a lot and just finished bricklaying large brick shed and starting my another DIY project but have a question:When building house extension, why are using trench blocks? Can you skip them and start brick and block work straight on footings?
Hi , glad you like the channel 🤝🏽. No need for trench block If you don’t want to use them 🧱👍🏽
Liked this one. I never realised that brickying/building was so precise. Look forward to next part. 👍👍
Not a lot of people do , bricklayers are very underrated and looked down on unfortunately 😒🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Until they want something built that is 🤓
@@Doug.... exactly ! 🙄🧱👍🏽
A lot of builders are no where near as accurate and precise as Steve and Alex👍
@@thetallcarpenter cheers Del 🙏🧱👍🏼
Brilliant work lads! Loving the vertical DPC and continuous cavity 👌👌💪 I know there heavy..but trench blocks are the best👌 massive time saver 👌
Have a good week lads🍻
Yeah Izzy trench block are worth the extra effort and you can put profiles straight onto them .
Only just realised I only did the cavity at one end . Same to you too pal 😳😬🤣🧱👍🏼
Excellent video lads very informative top job top team awesome 🇬🇧🥶🇬🇧🥶
😁🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Cracking video guys 👍🏻 congratulation on the 20k you deserve it
Thanks very much Stu 🙏🏽🧱👍🏽
Another great video lads, keep up the good work.
And following on from one of the commenters below, it's great to see (in your reply) that you actually do enjoy your work, but that shines through anyway in your attention to detail and the care you take.😁
Thanks very much Garry 🙏🏽🧱👍🏽
Ace work (as usual...) love the blue wellies... Who chooses the backing music tracks.. Dont have either of you down as an officianado of dance/trance/dubstep music but whatever.. Shazam sorts it out for me.
Thanks pal . I’m an 80 rave fan 😉🧱👍🏽
Right back breaking stuff there steve hate that catching the legs of the concrete and all sorts.
😬😁🧱👍🏽
Well done - you have impressive levels of resilience and determination👍
Thanks pal 🧱👍🏽
Great work. Messy conditions. Looking forward to the next installment. Hopefully it dried up a bit.
Cheers Wayne , it did I’m the end 🧱👍🏼
Great looking job guys, and it looks a good size for an extension👍I feel your stress when your camera was playing up, as I know you don't want to waste the opportunity for footage😩Good old mobile phone to the rescue though to keep the show going🤩Cheers Del
Cheers Del . As the last two jobs before leamington were close to home and we put the videos out a couple of months after we should get some footage of the finished jobs hopefully 🤩🤩🧱👍🏼
@@SteveAndAlexBuild It's tough, a lot of the time, to get back to show the completed job,(which we know viewers want to see), when we only work on one part of it. (brickwork for you and roofing/1st fix for me) But I guess that is what your/our viewers watch for👊
@@thetallcarpenter exactly 👌🏼🧱👍🏼
Superb guys in that crappy weather 🤙🏼 you can certainly tell you ain’t scared of the graft 👌🏼
Cheers Marty 😉🧱👍🏽
I just learned and realized that my mother-in-law is a "trench block."

Nice to see tradesmen that take care and attention to their work , and tidy up every day , nice one.

lovely work guys , would you consider coming to Derby at some point this year ? all the best guys ........fred

Hi what are the best blocks to use single story extension {kitchen units etc} inner and outer skin thank you

Just on your own today very quiet day.👍👍👍
Yes mate Alex’s girlfriend was over from Sweden 🧱👍🏼
Hard game lads.!!!!!!
😁🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
It’s that ok soft blocks in the ground?
They are trench blocks specially designed for foundations 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
You guys definitely need a wet vac or a cheap pump. Done well considering the grotty conditions. Sorry your holiday didn't go well, never good. 🙁
Thanks pal , won’t be going back there 🙄🧱👍🏽
Can you explain how to install the vertical damp and why you use it?
Maybe on a future video 🧱👍🏽
Get yourself a cheap water pump from tool station it goes on the end of an electric drill . Saves you a bit of work shovelling water out mate when it’s been raining 👍
🧱👍🏽
@steve I had the same issue with the exact same model of radio, if you work out a fix can you let me know, cheers
Mmm it’s been back for repair once .
Now it won’t work with the batteries …. Not good 🙁🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Yeh mine just stopped one day, wont turn on with batteries or power cable, its just a brick, must be a common fault on that model :(
Not good as they are bloody expensive .
You’ve got a 1 warranty on it though 🙄🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Mine went about a month out of warranty sadly, @makita please fix it for me :)
We’ve had a repair so not sure if it will get fixed 🙄🧱👍🏽
Is it just the south, that bottom of trench has to be 1m up from virgin ground.?
Don’t know pal 🧱👍🏽
How deep are the concrete footings before any block?
450 mm 👍🏽🧱
Geeez Steve, every time I see you down on your knees on cement, I wince. (I've got very bad knees.) No knee pads? Save your knees...you'll wish you did later. Suggestion: buy a RV water pump and a motorcycle battery. Will pump out all the wet stuff down in the trenches w/o any work. Cheap solution. I hope ya'all have your covid booster shots. Omacron is going wild over here. People here that said they would never get poked are getting poked now.
Yes buddy , boosted up 💉👌🏼🧱👍🏼
Why a bad trip, please tell me you didn’t go to Eurodisney ??
Unfortunately yes we did 🙄🧱👍🏽

Suprised you are allowed to use jablite, if bc see it around here it’s like they have been shot in the heart😂 only allow 100mm celotex around 3times more expensive!! East mids area
They are ok with it up here as long as it’s 125 mm 🧱👍🏼
👍🏻
😁🧱👍🏽
Why are you using trench block? Saving on concrete?
No we always use trench blocks 🧱🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild The question is why?

Who put the concrete in u have a block with a massive bed going to cutting the block towards the house why not gauge the concrete to work in course with the house. Extra work n cost for no reason
You wouldn’t have anything to complain about if it was perfect 🤷🏽♂️
