Went up in this airplane a couple days ago - rode mid-ship, but was able to crawl to the tail-gunner's location during the flight - what an impression this has made on me. Thanks for keeping this bird in the air.
I will never be fortunate enough to sit here that camera was stationed at in the cockpit. This video is a close second if you ask me.....Thanks for peaking my curiosity, if only for the duration of the video. I loved watching this.
great video, excellent quality. I just rode this plane a couple days ago at an air show in MN. But I had the "cheap" seats in the back. We took turns crawling and sitting in the rear gunner position. Awesome! It was the best $390.00 I have spent in a long time. Makes a person really appreciate what those brave men did for us 75 years ago! It was explained to me that this plane is an actual combat veteran that flew 17 missions in the south pacific if my memory serves me correctly.
Majestic Skywhale once they signed up, they were all given orders which they chose to follow- go and kill someone they never met, under threat of courts martial, so it was "easier" to just go along with it than refuse. Yes ?
+Laszlo Zoltan In WWII when someone was trying to kill you and your countrymen, you didn't consider whether you had ever met them or not. Very few refused the opportunity to do what it took to win the war.
These guys work hard to keep these birds in the air. I was set to join the CAF when my neck got so bad the surgery was the only answer. I thought I'd find a way to join after the surgery, but two surgeries and then lumbar surgery took that away. Still, they fly over my home every once in a while and I get to see these grand old ladies fly. To ride in one would be awesome!
Each engine has 1600 hp and is supercharged. The B-25 I rode in had a forty MM cannon controlled by the command pilot, (left seat). The rear of the cannon was used as a stepping point to get up into the cockpit area which , I believe is about 3' by 4' by 5'. Within this small space there is just enough room for four crew members. The plane can be flown with just two pilots so the other two rear seats are for observers. There is a section of dark green plexiglass over the pilot, copilot seats immediately behind the green plexi there is clear plexi panels , one of which is the only escape hatch for the cockpit crew. It measures about 2' by 2'. Somehow the cockpit crew must bail out through this small opening with their chutes. Copilot first then the command pilot. The remaining crew members in the lower portion of the fuselage would bail out the opening through which they boarded the aircraft. I can't imagine having to bail out through either one of these minimal openings. The original WW2 crew members were young and fearless. I give them all the credit for their skill and nerve.
The pilots can't bail out of the top hatch. The gun turret is in the way. That is for ground egress only. The entry hatch in the floor is the normal bailout exit. The ladder can be jettisoned for bailout.
When the PIC turns around and says “Pop pop pop!” with that big grin, that somehow captures the reason I admire that generation so much.
i am air-sick...Brilliant , merci for that .Could almost feel the tension 70 years back..
Two kids having fun with a wonderful toy...
Awesome! The sound the engines make on takeoff is incredible
Classic plane, truly makes one appreciate

Been there, (in the aircraft: In 'The Mood'). It was was awesome!
I was in this same plane in Thunder Bay in Aug. 2016. So tight inside, gives you a new respect for the boys fighting in them.
On a lazy summer afternoon, you can hear those engines rumble for miles. B-25s awesome stuff.

+hrodd2 it doesnt take bravery to follow orders
+Laszlo Zoltan the army air forces all volunteered for that job.

Yes ?
Laszlo Zoltan nobody is here to argue about the ethics of bombing mate.

I flew on a b-25 and this is exactly the view and thrill I had. Good job on the video.
Thank you very much for recording this. Thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.

The B-25 has been my favorite WWII airplane for a long time.
I had the privilege of checking this aircraft out at Luke AFB in 2011. Beautiful bird.
This is so fucking awesome. Respect.

Muito bom vídeo. Conheci o B-25 da FAB, aqui no Brasil, na Base Aérea de São Paulo - Guarnição de Cumbica; adorava ouvir seu "ronco". Parabéns
These old Bollocks are the real Pilots, no girlies!
