We need a director’s cut of pootie tang
I had no idea Louie had anything to do with this. I saw that this video was 12 minutes long and thought damn Louie is a huge Pootie Tang fan lol
This movie was EXCELLENT. Like "Napoleon Dynamite" type magic happened, IMO.
it's way better than that
I feel Pootie tang is one of those movies where a persons reaction to it tells a lot about their personality. I dont think i could be good friends with someone who hated it
It's funny! I loved it as a kid. Every single day in Summer it is REQUIRED that one says "Man, it is HOT toDAY."
Sepatown

Pootie Tang is NOT a bad film.. it's the hill I will die on!!
Wa Da Tah!
RIP
You probably think baseket ball is a sweet film too.

@@chrsAdd01 what movies do you watch the crying game
Wanda Sykes character was so good!
Jesus I watched this shit movie maybe once when I was a kid and it has always stuck with me. Seeing Chris Rock get beaten to death by a gorilla. Classic
Pootie Tang is one of the funniest films ever made. It was already a classic to me and my friends/family long before any of us knew who Louis CK was, let alone that he made Pootie Tang! Every person I've ever asked "Have you ever seen Potie Tang?" and they said "No", I sat down with them and showed it to 'em. Pootie Tang is a CLASSIC! -
I'm going to be honest. It came out at a time when I was sick of American movies and was exclusively watching foreign films. When I finally got to see it on HBO (or cable channel) I instantly regretted not seeing it in theaters!
@@juniorjames7076 Where you from? -
I love Pootie Tang! Pootie Pootie Pootie!
Sah dah tay my dammie. 😂😂😂🤣🤣
Wa da tah
Pootie Tang, Pootie Tang!!!
I don't care what louie says, pootie tang was an absolute masterpiece of its time. it holds up GREAT. and is STILL a super funny movie. just cuz it was a total bomb at the time, doesn't mean you should totally write it off.
I liked this movie and am proud to say I'm one of the few people who saw it in theaters lol

Hi Man, love your compilations and thank you very much for crediting my work in hunting down some of those clips. I really appreciate it. But I have one small requests, if it's not too much of a hussle, can you credit my english-speaking channel (that I'm commenting from right now)? The other, that you put in description, is in polish and almost dead. Thank you in advance and keep up the good work! Cheers!
I love this movie😊
You can learn a lot from failure, and being wrong, never be afraid to.

Louis is always interesting to listen to
Oh, I love SayrEdge Gonzborg.
Sign yo pity on the running kind??
LOVE this movie!!!!
Pootie Tang is fucking hilarious.
Only saw the year early test screening at Paramount. Remember there were some fair bits in search of a movie.
4:26 both those actors are in The Wire!
I had no idea Louis had anything to do with that movie
They need to make a behind the scenes film of Pootie tang
man... when we get pootie tang Louis's cut
Pootie is a masterpiece 🤓!!
when i was like 6 my mom’s new husband had a dvd copy of pootie tang and let me tell you, it changed my life
How could anybody call this movie a failure? I'm a middle-aged white woman and I can't get enough of it. Of course, my sense of humor is solidly rooted in the middle school years...
Wha de tah!
i gotz to say da nay no my daimie
i love this movie...yeah and its good too!
Sa da tay!
Pretty damn great comedian is Louis, but I could listen to him talk all day about films.
I LOVE Pootie Tang, i was in high school when it came out and i saw it 5 times in the theater (i also worked in a movie theater, so that helped). I still think its a great film and, hot take here, but based on Louis CKs FX show which he had total control over and i always found kinda overindulgent, ive always thought that id prolly prefer the studio cut of pootie tang to his. Sometimes big creatives need the structure and push back of a studio
That might be the difference between making a "product" and making art. I would like to see a director's pure vision, and decide for myself if I like it or not (or confused by it) as opposed to a "corporate studio" deciding what will sell the most tickets- obligatory action scene, obligatory T&A, finale in the 3rd act.
@@juniorjames7076 studios pay for movies. And movies are a collaborative art. There is no pure vision for you to decide thumbs up/and thumbs down on
The greatest movie trailer of all time
I freaking loved Pootie Tang! All my friends loved it. Executives shoot themselves in the foot way too often without realizing they’ll have success if they let the very talent they hire do their jobs.

I hope he knows how much I love this movie 😩
Louie is great.
Movie is still great. Of course there is a part of it that sucks, but still original enough and having great performances enough to be a great movie. One of my favorite comedies.
Pootie tang is hilarious
Forgot how physically attractive Wanda was
Love pootie tang
Pootie Tang was a masterpiece.
wait, andy richter is in this?
I really liked Pootie Tang….It’s too late now since he’s cancelled but at the peak of Louis’ fame, they should have let him do a director’s cut and had a limited theatrical release. I mean, how different can his version be than what came out?
I've never turned off a movie that made me laugh as hard in the opening. This film really goes to shit
Pootie Tang was weird. It was very clearly a bad film and felt unfinished, but it obviously had a lots of potential and really some funny moments. It's a good first pass at a film
I'm not saying it's good or bad...I just didn't get it
Greatest nonsense movie ever there is no one better then pootie tang!
Noice
I always liked undercover brother more then pootie tang
than
@Olie986 you really think ur better then me don't you lol
@Olie986 you really think you're better THAN me, don't you lol
The dance-off between Eddie Griffin and Chris Kattan was comedy gold. Sent me into hysterics!
I love Louie as much as anyone but lets not pretend this movie wasn't a heaping avalanche of shit
I love his stand up and interviews, but Pootie Tang sucked.
I love the pootie tang character. Even named my dog pootie amd ran around with a pootie belt. BUT this movie was fucking stupid. Parts were funny and unique to pootie. The rest…. Trash. Louis CK muat have just seen a Troma Toxic Avenger movie and adjusted the same story to fit Pootie.
Can't take even 60 seconds of LCK. I'll just skip these.
genuine question...why???
Louis is so pretentious lmao. He'll never be a great filmmaker, and should have just focused on making funny things.
That doesn't make sense
@@wc6046 I'll break it down for you. "Louis is so pretentious" he thinks of himself and carries himself as if he's smarter and more talented than he is, which is the definition of pretension. "lmao" I find this funny. "He'll never be a great filmmaker" because he just doesn't have whatever it is dudes like PTA and Tarantino and Kurosawa have/had. "should have just focused on making funny things" He is a very funny person, and is great at making comedy. If he could just accept the fact that he's a comedian and not an auteur filmmaker, we might get some good comedy films out of him.
That's called CONFIDENCE 💡
@@buck_swope I got all that, but commenting he "should have focused on making funny things" in reference to a (bad) feature length comedy he made doesn't make sense. If this video was about Fourth of July or something, that would make sense. Also, the sentiment here kind of disregards the fact that he made Louie
@@wc6046 Louie was very overrated. Louis CK will never be more entertaining than when he was just messing around on O&A, and deep down he knows and resents this. Also, did we not watch the same video here? It's literally Louis talking about how he made this artistic movie that was ruined by the studio. You know what? The studio was probably right.
