    Impressive, thanks to REE for this development,this lady is really smart and does an excellent job. Really appreciate Cory taking the time to do this.Seems Munro may get one of these units to tear down. REE would have been smart to have some engineers present at the booth to step in to be part of the conversation. Looks like a great future for this company. Real value out of this video.

    The military is really into having modular power packs (engine & transmission) that can be pulled and swapped out. They require speed of repair so the vehicle is back out to the front lines ASAP. This looks like something they'd be interested in.

    Cory, this is excellent, you've probably saved me a few hours of research!
    The possibilities for such a system extend in a number of directions: Powered trailers, specialised equipment such as airport or seaport machinery and so much more.
    I've remarked to colleagues that with the coming-of-age of battery and motor systems there is the potential to see the return of coachbuilding as a viable business.

    Four-Wheel steering on a delivery truck, or city bus, would be a great improvement. I can't tell you how many times traffic has been held up while a delivery truck was trying to park in a tight space so he could reach his customer.

    Firts thank you to Kim Mathers for this clear and thoughtful presentation !!!
    I was thinking at first that this module was designed to replace the main engine and
    will be connected to the main shaft where the clutch and gear box was located.
    But instead, making a separate unit for each wheel is the perfect solution.
    Just eliminating the main shaft and differential on each of the axial is a great energy saving.
    I can't wait to see an UPS truck making a 'crab' U-Turn in from of my home using vectoring control !!!

    • @jessbug58
      @jessbug58 Рік тому

      @@mikedx2706 I agree. However the only downside is that when we RV we're off the grid and access to the kind of EV charger needed to power the vehicle may be limited, at this point in time. This will definitely be a game changer when the charging infrastucture is where it needs to be.

      I suppose the overall weight of the chassis might be higher, but could be entirely modular in length, width, wheelbase, and whatever box is placed on top. Might not be as efficient as making tens of thousands of identical trucks, but would be the best way to make ten of anything.

      Producing a 'corner" is a cool idea. But I'd rather see it with ultra cheap construction with sheet metal and stamped parts. This looks like it's going to be way more expensive than it needs to be. Your box truck doesn't need race car performance parts

      I like the way you are thinking. No need to throw out working parts because a different part is not usable anymore. They specifically mention taking a corner off for refurbishment and putting another one in immediately. That implies to me that the refurbished unit can then go on back on another chassis. So I think just taking four working one off a chassis and putting them on a new chassis would not be a problem.

Seems like it would be good to develop a connector that houses all the power and communication needs of each drive unit so wiring is literally one wire and connector per drive unit. With four connections at the battery/ECM. Then only need one other connection going to the control pod at the driver location. They should also develop a modular battery ECM, specifically to interface with their units.
