I have this camera and it continues to impress me with its great image quality, especially in high ISO. And I'm only using it with the tack sharp kit lens too. The only problem I have with it is that focusing gets iffy in low light at the tele end of its kit zoom lens due to it not being particularly bright at that focal length. Nice to see the little X-A10 get some love! 👍 I bought one advertised as a ‘broken’ kit on eBay a couple of years ago. The 27mm f2.8 pancake lens had obviously been sold separately from the kit, so I got a brand new X-A10, charger and battery for £120. The Fuji battery was worth £55 at that time and it would also fit my XT3, so I saw it as I was getting a camera for £65 and I had the 27mm pancake anyway. I bought the fuji x-a2 as my first camera about two months ago for around $130 and it made me fall in love with photography. This and the X-A5 is the closest one could get to what I would consider as the definitive "successor" of the X-M1. Small and compact without viewfinder, two manual control dials, and a tilting LCD; perfect street photography setup, especially for waist level shooters. Would love it if the next Fuji you cover to be the X-T100. Apparently it's one of the go to camera for Astrophotography among Fuji users, thanks to being one of the most capable of Bayer sensor camera that Fuji offered; relatively compact, having the most physical controls out of all their entry level line, a surprisingly long battery life (notably compared to it's successor X-T200), an EVF, and of course a tilting LCD.

Both models have long been discontinued, which is why you can't find them on Fujifilm's website. But, as I mentioned in the video, buying second hand means that you won't always get what you want, when you want it, so you will need to keep checking used camera sites frequently to stand a chance of getting a bargain. Good luck!
@@TomCalton Yeah, I'll be watching out for one of these. I only found one on ebay but it's in the UK and the extra shipping and import taxes make it too expensive. Thanks!
I think these X-A cameras are not talked about very much. After I picked up an X-A2 a few years back I couldn't find much on UA-cam about them. Hey. I guess it entirely depends on what you shoot and what is most important to you. The NEX-6 is smaller and is a great entryway into the Sony mirrorless system, so if you plan to stick down the mirrorless route, get this. The Nikon D5300 will have better AF than the NEX-6, but you'll be buying into Nikon's D-SLR range, which means if you do want to go mirrorless in the future, it could mean having to sell up everything and then jump ship (or just adaptors). Hello, I have a Fuji film X-A10. I’m having trouble to where when I take a picture, a selfie, it inverts the final photo. But when I go to my settings, it says face detection is off. Do you have any advice on this ?
Can i ask, my fujifilm X-A10 suddenly not working, but the indicator lights up if it is charging, then when i open it, the cam won't turn on, it happens after changing the flex cable for screen
Absolutely! I actually thought to myself earlier today that I should get an X-T100 or T200 in for review soon. I'll add it to my list now for you (though, the video won't likely be out for a month or 2)
@@ricardoantoniogonzalez9724 Interesting - thanks for the tip. I was swaying towards the X-T100 anyway due to its lower price point. But I'll certainly weigh up both options before deciding.
@@TomCalton A lot of people actually hate the 200 because of the screen which is an opposite hit to what Fuji mostly implements in their line ups but if possible how big of a difference does it have compared to xs10 and xt4 given they have the same image sensor.
@@TomCalton the only real difference between the xt100&200 is video. But if you want something for good video? "Don't get anything from Fuji at this price"
Someone help me out,I’m from Greece and for some odd reason it’s really hard to find fujifilm cameras here,I don’t know why. You can easily find canon,Nikon and Sony ones but fujifilm ones like this are extremely rare to find. Even on eBay there are specific models I can’t find. Like the fujifilm x-a3. Why is this happening
Awesome Awesome review Tom! Been having trouble reaching spots with shaving my balls for a long time now. Sounds like this is the the best option for such photo scenarios! Thanks!
Total noob here, camera really looks nice, I'd like to start my photography journey. Is it worth it at $1,000? That's the best offer i could find in my country. What could be an equivalent device, so i can compare other options with pther brands? Great vid!
Are you sure it us an X-A10? That is waaaay too much. Aren't you mistaking it for the XS10? This is the closest in name at that price, although they look very different.
As I mentioned in the video, you can't just expect to find what you want after just one search. You have to keep looking. $600 is waaaay over priced and likely just someone trying their luck. I literally visit second hand camera sites on a daily basis when I'm after a specific camera.
You don’t need to buy every nostalgic camera that comes out. Old cameras are giving Tom unlimited content and I’m all for it. I’m not buying any of them though. Also thankful I didn’t fall for film simulations
I completely agree, though, is anyone really watching these videos thinking that they need to buy every camera I talk about? I assume most people have more sense than that. Film sims are certainly not for everyone or for every occation, but out of interest, why are you so against them?
I got an X-A20 because of this video, for MYR700, basically about USD150. Initially I planned to pair it with my Samyang 12mm F2 AF, but AF with this lens is horrendous. The lens is fine with my X-T20 though. Then I paired it with my Viltrox 27mm F1.2 and the AF works perfectly fine. So that's how I'm using it now, until I get a small lens to pair it with. Feels like wearing clown shoes as the lens is humongous and heavy compared to the body. Lol.
@@stevelean8102 got it off Carousell. Gotta keep an eye out for deals there, occasionally lenses and bodies come up for cheap. The other day I found an X-T10 for only 800!
Hey, immediate brandnew sub here :D I really enjoy your photo and cinematic style! Your videos are rather informative; i want to retire my blemished and mangled 550d, and also want to gift a good mate a beginner device. I just wanted to thank you and best regards from GER, stay healthy and safe (:
I am from the UK, though my audience is largely from the US (over 25% in fact). Pricing everything in £ wouldn't mean much to about 94% if my viewers as only 6% are from the UK😅
Well there goes the "most inexpensive" part of this setup lol. Seriously though... this seems like a great little setup! Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
These always seem to find the cheapest cameras that no one else can find! I looked on ebay. Saw only one FujiFilm XA10 and wasn't priced at $178. It was $650! If you going to say you can pick up a camera for whatever price, it might be 'genuine' to point viewers to where to buy.
Someone clearly didn't watch the video until the end... 🙄 Buying second hand isn't like buying new. There is no set price for cameras. I even showed examples in this video (@8:02) of how much the prices can fluxtuate and then go on to explain that you have to be patient and persistent to find what you want. How could I possibly provide links to a product when used cameras get listed and sell on a daily basis? Unfortunately, if you want a bargain, you have to actually put the work in. 🤷🏻
The second hand market isn't like buying new. You can't just go online, search for it, find the first one and say "that's the price". There is no set value for used cameras - prices fluctuate dramatically over time depending numerous varribles. It's weird to accuse me of clickbait when I have literally purchased that very camera for the price stated and have even seen numerous others going for around that price over the last few months (I actually bought this camera back in Nov/Dec 2023). I check used camera sites literally every day. You actually have to put the effort in and be patient if you want to find a bargain.
I totally understand and respect the grind in the second hand market, I wasn't trying to say you didn't buy it at that price either. Maybe your intention wasn't to be clickbait and you genuinely just wanted to talk about your bargain of a deal you found, but your thumbnail, title, chapters, and description all suggest that the X-A10 itself is a bargain deal, not that YOU got a bargain deal on that camera. I think it's possible I only see it this way because I'm consuming your content whereas you're creating the content and might not have meant for it to come off that way. I don't mean to wrongly accuse you of anything, but I felt clickbaited. I thought I was going to hear about a underrated camera that I didn't know was a cheap option in the hobby, but in reality it is a reasonably priced camera that someone got at a great deal.@@TomCalton
If you have the data to show this correlation I'd love to see it because this statement is just categorically not true. The world markets are not watching my videos to then hike prices my friend. You just need to spend a bit of time shopping around to find a bargain. I didn't just buy the first one I found - I had to work for it as prices vary hugely on the second hand market.
This cost reduced camera is likely the worst camera Fuji made because it is cost reduced and its missing many features and the build quality is cost reduced. People buy Fuji for the Xtrans Sensor. The lowest end used Fuji cameras I'd recommend would be a X-T10/X-T20 or an X-T2/X-T3 depending upon budget. If you want a Bayer sensor, skip Fuji entirely and get another brand that you can get a cheaper used camera OR cheaper 3rd party lenses. Fuji lenses and 3rd party lenses are not cheap and they are not plentiful as well.
It is overlooked because smart people remember that their cellphone takes much better pictures. Unless there are controls on the camera that make it fun to use, there is no reason to buy this camera.
@@hex_1733 Which cell phones have you tried? I recently purchased a used decade old 10 mp digital camera only because it is fun to use. I am under no illusion that it takes better pictures than a modern cellphone with a good camera. I have owned many Fuji cameras from the XA1, XT1, Xpro2, X70, XE4, X100V so I am not a Fuji hater but just being realistic.
And you are completely ignoring the glass! Tell me with a pin price relatively sized front element how can it gather more light than even a budget lens? It uses algorithms I also besides my Fuji cameras have the old Pentax Q system it's sensor is the size of that an most compacts and yet still a magnitude bigger than the tiny sensor and even though the glass is way smaller than that on say a Fuji 56mm f1.4 it is far bigger than that on a phone. Now don't get me wrong for all their limitations phones do a great job but it is comments like yours that generate should we say mild hate towards phone users that is brought on by lack of knowledge and understanding of even the basic facts about how an image is created.
@@thorgrimb2416 Even my ancient 2016 Galaxy S7 phone has a f1.7 lens so it gathers plenty of light, more so than most of my budget lenses, not to mention primes. I would assert that given the typical size of how most digital images are consumed e.g. on the web or printed at largest 8x10 that there is virtually no image quality difference between a camera like this vs a decent cell phone camera. Some might even argue that the cellphone image would be preferred more often due to the typical auto enhancements that are applied to boost shadows and preserve highlights in a scene. No one is arguing there aren't differences when pixel peeping, but one has to be honest about how most images are viewed when comparing cameras.

I purchased the leica 109 for less than 300 usd. I now see it for up to and over 1000usd. These videos really impact the market.
Hello, I have a Fuji film X-A10. I’m having trouble to where when I take a picture, a selfie, it inverts the final photo. But when I go to my settings, it says face detection is off. Do you have any advice on this ?
and just like that - the camera is now $250 on ebay.
This camera (and i think most Fujis?) actually has a hidden punch-in/ magnify mode to make manual focussing easier: Simply press the thumb dial down!
Good advice! Thanks for sharing
Can i ask, my fujifilm X-A10 suddenly not working, but the indicator lights up if it is charging, then when i open it, the cam won't turn on, it happens after changing the flex cable for screen
Will you ever try to review the xt200?
Absolutely! I actually thought to myself earlier today that I should get an X-T100 or T200 in for review soon. I'll add it to my list now for you (though, the video won't likely be out for a month or 2)
@@TomCalton honestly as someone who has an xt100. Get it over the xt200. The unique screen plus more buttons make the older version better
Does the x-a5 is a good choice instead of the x-a10 or 20 ?
Yes, x-a5 is way more better than x-a10. I'm using x-a3 right now, i have experienced x-a5 because my brother has one.
I've had the X-A5 for a few years now. It's a bit small, but very capable camera and it looks great, to boot.
Awesome Awesome review Tom! Been having trouble reaching spots with shaving my balls for a long time now. Sounds like this is the the best option for such photo scenarios! Thanks!
Thanks, and you're welcome! Just please promise you won't share the photos from your exploratory shaving adventures. 😅
@@TomCalton 😅😅😅
Total noob here, camera really looks nice, I'd like to start my photography journey.
Is it worth it at $1,000? That's the best offer i could find in my country. What could be an equivalent device, so i can compare other options with pther brands?
Great vid!
Are you sure it us an X-A10? That is waaaay too much. Aren't you mistaking it for the XS10? This is the closest in name at that price, although they look very different.
Is this a better option to a X10?
In terms of image quality and functionaility, yes. In terms of portability, probably not as much.
$13 brand new lens made of metal and glass? What the actual fuuuu
i have an xf10 with a bayer sensor.
only one i can find on ebay is 600$?
@@TomCalton cause I bought a Sony before I knew about fujifilms feature Sony didn’t have, lol buyers remorse
I had this camera for 2 years, eventually the buttons started going dead one by one until it was no longer functional
Lol.
Hey man, MYR700 is great value. Can you share where did you buy it from? I see Shopee is at almost 1.5K now
@@stevelean8102 got it off Carousell. Gotta keep an eye out for deals there, occasionally lenses and bodies come up for cheap. The other day I found an X-T10 for only 800!
@@stevelean8102 I got it off Carousell. Occasionally you can find one there about 700-1200 range. Gotta keep an eye out for good deals.
I havve his brother, XA-20, a powerhouse I got at $70 for it's broken flash and lens electronics
i own this camera still kicking
No longer cheapest option after this video
So what is your favourite camera on a budget? Every camera you mention is the best?
RIP inexpensive cameras
this camera was the reason why i moved from canon dslr's to fuji
Hey, immediate brandnew sub here :D
I really enjoy your photo and cinematic style! Your videos are rather informative; i want to retire my blemished and mangled 550d, and also want to gift a good mate a beginner device.
I just wanted to thank you and best regards from GER,
stay healthy and safe (:
Hey! Welcome aboard and thanks for the lovely comment 😊
Just curious. You sound English like me but you price everything in dollars? Do you live in the USA?
I am from the UK, though my audience is largely from the US (over 25% in fact). Pricing everything in £ wouldn't mean much to about 94% if my viewers as only 6% are from the UK😅
Wow great news I am now just 5%away from being in the 1% group 😂
Please stop taking better photos than me on cheaper cameras than mine, thank you very much.
Right, It's so offensive!
I chose the wrong moment to take a mouthful of tea...shaving your balls! 😂
Well there goes the "most inexpensive" part of this setup lol.
Seriously though... this seems like a great little setup!
Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
Shaving the balls! 🤣🤣
I always wondered why does your background say 'mother'
It's a play on the phrase "badass mother f***er"
hell no without an evf
I see this camera used from $300 to $600 USD.
Those lenses are $40 now lol
The newer versions have always been around $40, but the older mark 1 version I'm using is still $14. There's a link to it in the video description.
@@TomCalton That link doesn't work. Leads to a "page not found" message.
Buying second hand isn't like buying new. 🤷🏻
I hate how easily I fall for clickbait lol W bargain but that camera is way more than 180
The second hand market isn't like buying new.
I thought I was going to hear about a underrated camera that I didn't know was a cheap option in the hobby, but in reality it is a reasonably priced camera that someone got at a great deal.@@TomCalton
im sorry but xa series is TRASH
X-T is where its at.
I don’t want a Fuji because every time I go to buy one you make a video and the price 5x.
I can assure you, no phone can take as good of a pic as even a decade old camera.
Yohan2437 is a perfect example of the dunning-kruger effect! A pseudo-intellectual.
