I find it utterly repellent to look at, and yet also strangely attractive. Bet it would have been horrendously slow with the ventral dustbin turret extended into the slipstream.
That requirement about the F.VII wheels is hilarious. The GR.8's aft fuselage and tail are really rather sleek, a complete mismatch to the almost comically ungainly remainder. Conversely the CR.9 looks exceedingly sleek. The portlier transport variant makes me think of the postwar French Dassault Flamant... Fascinating stuff.
actually, this one carried twice the bomb load at a speed barely any slower... and had more defensive guns.. not saying it've fared well against the luftwaffe, but the battle really was a dissapointment that looked modern
Excellent report about this rather obscure aircraft, with many photographs never seen before. Thank you very much !

230 mph wasn't that bad in 1935, it was actually very good, faster than the Martin B10
Didn't know about this aircraft! Fascinating background!

for the thirties it was a fast bomber actually, as was the SV10, but an evolutionary dead end anyway
It is beautifull in its very own way!
It was a very "special military operation"
It's GRRRRRR8!! As Tony the Tiger would say.
Actually, it wasn't all that GRRRRR8.
@@BelgiumsFlyingPast But it's right there in the name 😥 (or alphanumeric designation)
I suspect it would have made the Fairy Battle seem a bang up to date fighter bomber................... despite the Battle's losses

Looks very French
it's... so ugly. Definitely designed by LACAB and not Blackburn? iI's ugly enough.
France: We want to build another useless multi role bomber that's ugly as all hell
Belgium: Hold my beer
