Both runways are 6500' X 150' and runway 3/21 is in the process of being shifted west to extend the safety zone at the end of runway 21 and that may extend the TORA.
Great vid. Lucky. You got to fly Southwest to Hawaii. That is something I really hope I get the chance to do. Rising fares have made it real difficult to fly anywhere. So for the time being, I have to travel vicariously. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for the kind words! I was a bit preoccupied about flying a low-cost carrier for 5 and a half hours, but Southwest does a very good job and I plan on flying then more often
Wow! That was fantastic. How’d you know it’s “full throttle”? It does look like it rockets right out of there, but did the captain say so or something??
Hey I enjoyed the video! I like seeing the entire startup and taxi to takeoff. It is interesting to hear how each engine sounds on startup in addition to takeoff.
Finally a, a full power 737 MAX departure from Lihue's short runway. Amazing!
Haha thank you! It was a very enjoyable experience :)

Plus, these flights are usually full as most of the passengers are connecting from LAX
With proper engine view.
The best thing about flying, is watching those engines go. 😎
Couldn't agree more! Thanks :)
It sounds really awesome. Too bad that from now and into the future, you’ll only hear the buzzsaw on full power takeoffs
Those CFM International LEAP 1B engines sound like those on a next gen 737 and a McDonnel Douglas DC-10 or MD-11 at full power. It sounds awesome!
They surely do! Thanks! :)
Southwest is the best
Thanks for the video, I'm a Kauai born and raised but have been residing in WA for 22 years.
And I’m now a subscriber 👀🤙🏽
Thank you so much! Kauai is such a beautiful island.

You can tell by the engine sound, and how quickly we got off of the ground. Thanks!
omg. did not know the 737 max 8 could have a buzzsaw sound
When the MAX's do high performance takeoffs, they produce amazing sounds. Thanks!
Where were you flying to from Lihue
I was flying to Los Angeles, KLAX!
Never knew why the max engine takes like 2 min to startup lol
9:38 but isnt that just a normal Southwest taxi speed?
Bound to?
Los Angeles, KLAX
Seat number please
I believe I was between Seats 4A and 6A
Listen to all the ridiculous rules and regs.. Ridiculous
Flying to the island during covid was certainly an experience! Thanks!
Thumbs down For wasting so much time
Thank you for the feedback!

These Gen z kids can't do over 60 second video anymore is crazy. You know. That's why the forward button is there
