Oh wow I’m surprised you haven’t done studs or rods!! What kinda oh power do you think your making? I’ve got a 2018 canyon and have been itching to see someone with a non vgt
@@HunterSkiff did you have a DT44 on the truck? What are the benefits of going this way? I have a 2017 Colorado,4.10 gears, DT44, water methanol injection and a serious diet. Thanks
@@peterberglund5492 Yea I've had a couple different turbo setups with the truck. The main benefit of this setup is it's a little easier on the engine at peak load, and you can squeeze a little more power out of a setup like this, compared to the DT44, before building the engine, working the trans, etc. The turbo is also easier to service and boost test etc. The downside is drivability. You cannot beat the drivability of the DT44. If you tow, even light, putting a setup like this together is out of the question
Sweet and clean turbo install. Makes one wonder why it could not have been mounted up top like that from the factory! The of course there is the OEM turbo, which uses super thin vanes that easily bend.
Hey mate, we have the 2.8 duramax in our holden Colorado's here in Australia and an Australian company called forefront industries make stainless intercooler pipes. Might be something to look at, they do have a website
I have a 17. I want to delete but want it done as cheap as possible, only intent is to get rid of def. Not looking for any performance change or tone change. Can i save money by using my stock exhaust and gutting/hollowing the dpf? Cut out the filter, and follow regular delete kits instruction but just use stock exhaust pipe? Is a down pipe required? Or can i just leave the stock thing (Doc) without having to buy any exhaust. Again, i want stock power tune and only want a reliable truck that will hit 300k miles Literally just live in a place where it's -30f and the def freezes and already replaced def heaters. Don't care about performance, 100% reliability only Hoping to fix it without spending 3k. A tune is only a couple hundred and i got a band saw and tig welder! Thanks man!
Where did you get the pro fab air blade delete kit, also will it require additional tuning, sick truck btw !! Any tips on what I should do after doing a full delete on my 2017 2.8 has 148,000 miles !
Thank you! This setup requires significant changes to the tune to run well. I would not recommend putting together a setup like this unless you’re able to tune it
But who will tune it?!? I have a 19 zr2 deleted and tuned with 3” turbo back exhaust and s&b. Runs great but want to to this setup but want to add the mal sensor and correct tune. Would be nice to know who to go to.
Is there a ton of turbo lag? I'm looking at a T04E with a .50 housing for my swap but I'm just going off my own number. What do you think? Clean turbo set up btw
What size wheels you thinking? This setup is pretty decent, it’s a stock size HX35, 54ish mm on the compressor. You give up maybe 300RPM down low where the truck is less responsive and makes less torque then once you’re on top on the charger it’s making some steam. This is not a setup you would want to tow with even at lighter loads like 3000lbs. very surge prone. Unloaded it’s a blast but you’ll definitely miss the low end grunt of the VGT. May try something like a S251 on this manifold and see how that does. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions. Can Also find me on most of the 2.8 Facebook pages
Is this motor stock internals?
Yes!

Looking at having the engine built next summer, but at this power level (~325whp) it’s not necessary, but probably smart

I think the turbo placement was a carry over from the previous generation of this engine. But yea, harder to service down there

Thanks for the heads up! Looks like their inlet and outlet feed from the top. US version feeds from the front
Afe makes intercooler pipes so does sasquatch parts check it out

There's no reason you can't hallow out your original exhaust. Send it!

the air blade piece is an oldie from ProFab, I believe it is discontinued. Thank you for the support!

How much HP and torque is it making?
~325HP, 550ft lbs, at the wheels
How did you move the actuator? Also what happens when it’s unplugged?
it simply unbolts from the factory turbo. With the actuator still attached but unplugged, vane position will go to zero (fully open)
What is specs on the hx35? Compressor and exhaust sizes? 60/60? 63/64?
Stock size compressor so 53mm ish. Turbine don’t remember off the top of my head
What happened to the DT44??
Nothing, just trying out a different setup. DT44 still great in my book 👍 and my go to recommendation
Glad to hear! Can’t wait for mine to get shipped🤞🏼
@@walkerkorus3153 Hopefully sooner than later! Keep me posted on your install
Yessir!!🤘🏼
Sick rig, Is the transmission stock?
thank you! Stock trans, just has TCM tune
What turbo is this. Is it a direct bolt on ? Thanks
HX35. It will directly bolt on to a T3 manifold
How many horsies
no idea!
~325HP, 550ft lbs, at the wheels
Did you tune it with HP?
EFI Live
Where’d you buy your turbo
Any stock size HX35 will do, they are available anywhere
Did you have it powder coated or did it come in that color
Also where did you get the air intake piping
Where did u get ur hot side and intake piping
My hot side it from my mom's side of the family, and the intake pipe was from the internet
I’m curious to know I take setup
Huh?
I just bought my 2.8 on 12/07/22 and that was the first thing I measured just this morning 12/10/22 to fab up was that cold side pipe. 😂
lmao hell yea! and congrats on the truck!
Thank ya its already about to be deleted because on day 3 I'm already have problems from the def
@@HunterSkiff summit racing sells intercooler piping
Do you know the 0-60 time on your highest tune?
it's in the mid to low 5 second range depending on hard to spool it from a dig and how happy the transmission is at that particular moment lol
@@HunterSkiff That's pretty darn quick! Would like to get mine that fast!! Thanks for the reply 👍
oh, it's definitely NOT fast lol @@jakefehr4011
