@@matt13ross That's too bad. If one wants a turbo gas powered Colorado, that's fine. But I think people should be allowed the option if they want or need a Duramax 2.8 litre Diesel.
Years ago Chrysler was putting this into their Dodge Caravans overseas and I saw a test done on a 1998 with a 2.4 L version of the same engine and it got over 50 miles per gallon with a single person in it and went 1050 miles. Then they filled it up with seven people filled up the fuel tank and it went over 730 miles with the same 20 gallons of fuel with seven people in it.
The truck and engine I want. I'm surprised Toyota has not built a tacoma with a 4 cylinder diesel yet. All I wanted out of a midsize truck, torque to tow, pull itself in light offroad situations and better gas economy than other trucks. I heard some reporting 36 mpg but they are probably in the country doing long commutes with no traffic
I'm very surprised no other makers have a diesel midsize truck. I guess they just aren't popular enough here in the USA. You can definitely get near 36mpg highway with a tuned non ZR2 Colorado diesel.

I was actually surprised with the fuel mileage. Currently looking around at diesel Colorados, Canyons, Ram 1500’s, and Silverado 1500’s. I don’t need a full size even thought it would be nice. But kinda leaning towards the Colorado now
Just a heads up about the Chevy 2.8 Duramax. There are no gauges for the turbo at all. Even more annoying is nothing to monitor particulate filter or do a manual regen. Usually there is no notification that it is doing one. Apparently you are suppose to be able to hear the difference, but I can't. I've had my truck in 6 times in 3 years for sensor replacement and manual regen. You can get a device called Autel 808 which is a scanning tool, but also allows you to monitor soot filter, time since last regen and most importantly you can do the manual regen yourself if need be. They cost a bit less than $500.00 but well worth the money. Chevy could have included more to monitor critical systems. other than that I have had no problems with my truck.

so what is the tune for it
HD diesel
ok thanks i plan on getting that next year then for my diesel zr2 i got about 75000 miles on it now just have had for a year and its my daily driver
@@nathanyoung3158 I’ve had mine about 2 years
nice i have 50000 in one year so next year i will have to do the timing belt and the tuner too hopefully at once should be fun
Who made the exhaust tip?
Amazon or eBay.
Can you do a straight pipe pleaseeee
Working on it!
Were both ZR2s?
Yes, same spec ZR2s.
your best ever wasnt 29, that was just the best you achieved in those 50 miles. im sure youve done better without knowing
also the tuned truck you averaged 30 and bested 35.
is there a cold air intake on it or stock i thinking going back to stock
Stock intake. Not sure if there is a benefit to aftermarket.
The reason why I'm asking is because my truck came with a cold air intake I didn't put it on and I'm having a horrible time finding an air filter for it I need it replaced and it keeps on throwing codes because of it but I don't know if they are ever going to get it a tree in stock so I was thinking about just going back to the stock filter box
What code and what intake? Can you hear more turbo noises or anything else with the intake?
I do hear a little bit of a turbo it's a air raid filter and it is out of stock and they don't know when they'll get them back into stock but I would clean it but it is too dirty to clean
@@nathanyoung3158 if you have the stock one laying around I’d just put it on.

It’s coming. I have all the parts and just got new gas for my welder :)
@@matt13ross I do have some questions about this setup for my *Canadian friend's 2016 LWN. Can I send you an email?
Yea that’s fine
Does that tune still allow you to pass emissions?
If you change emission equipment, you’ll fail inspection depending on your state or county.
I really really hope someone will come up with a delete for my LM2 , in the end you can’t live in Alberta and have an emission compliant diesel Lol
Not gonna happen, which sucks!
@@matt13ross why do you think like that ?! Be positive
No deletes for new engines anymore. And that's been our for years.
@@matt13ross if nothing comes up I’ll trade it for a l5p
What tuner is used in this video?
Yes which tuner are you using? I have a 5 switchable from duramaxtuner but I don’t get 35mpg I have seen 28 though
stock has a way better idle sound
Stock idle is silent lol
@@matt13ross Yea but its hard to tell when the microphone is right on it. I really like the the after market exhaust but that bubbly noise at idle sounds kinda strange
I think you'd like it in person. Honestly my favorite part is the idle and low revs. High revs it doesn't sound great IMO.
Yea I wanted to buy the mini duramax but the only ones I can find are like 40 grand
Most are closer to 50K.
who makes the tune?
HD diesel
need to do actual gallons to miles,
still slow, but so is my tdi jetta
Ha, yup!
That is a isuzu japan engine?
Umm sure?
Thailand
It's a VM diesel from Italy, designed in part by GM. GM bought part of the company from Penske then Fiat bought the other part. GM sold their part to Fiat and kept the design that is now being build at a new factory in Thailand. Jeep and Dodge ECO Diesels are also built by VM and share some parts.

Is egr, dpf and def still in play here?
it wouldn't smoke if it still had a dpf.
Where is the hood stack. You are over 1k likes
Check the rest of my videos lol. Stacked it years ago.
I have an eco diesel wrangler.............. makes more power stock than that ever will..... banks tuner and I get 30 mpg highway 18 in 4lo crawling...... and around 540 or so tq from the crank.. buddy of mine is trying to beat me with his baby duramax..... I hope he wins cause I like chevys but I really think it's a lost cause.....
Right, the Wrangler has a larger newer V6, much more power than the I4 Duramax for sure.
My man, i need help
How can I assist?
I got this DEF/dpf problem, looking to solve this permanently
I get 17.5 mpg in my Zr2 2.8 duramax. WTH 🤦
Something wrong there!
Me too... 17 mpg. It there a reason its so low?
If we could see more of the vehicle and gauges while in motion or parked and less of you, it would be much more professional, and no one would think you're not really a conceded narcissist... good luck.
Lol this video is like 3 years old
Diesel is too small as 4 cylinders. Need minimum of 6 cylinder. The truck has only baby diesel and it sounds like it too. Little baby sound.
It is a baby, and in a baby truck
