    Years ago Chrysler was putting this into their Dodge Caravans overseas and I saw a test done on a 1998 with a 2.4 L version of the same engine and it got over 50 miles per gallon with a single person in it and went 1050 miles. Then they filled it up with seven people filled up the fuel tank and it went over 730 miles with the same 20 gallons of fuel with seven people in it.

    The truck and engine I want. I'm surprised Toyota has not built a tacoma with a 4 cylinder diesel yet. All I wanted out of a midsize truck, torque to tow, pull itself in light offroad situations and better gas economy than other trucks. I heard some reporting 36 mpg but they are probably in the country doing long commutes with no traffic

    • @matt13ross
      @matt13ross  3 роки тому +1

      I'm very surprised no other makers have a diesel midsize truck. I guess they just aren't popular enough here in the USA. You can definitely get near 36mpg highway with a tuned non ZR2 Colorado diesel.

    I have a 2017 and the only thing I have in it is a Stealth chip I had one trip that actually hit 42.0 miles per gallon. Though not as impressed with the performance otherwise. Also, haven't hit that 42 since, so not going to attribute it to the chip, as it could have been a fluke. Looking to do a full tune soon. Have also heard some good things about Pedal Commander to get rid of dead pedal syndrome. We'll see what the full tune does first.

      Just a heads up about the Chevy 2.8 Duramax. There are no gauges for the turbo at all. Even more annoying is nothing to monitor particulate filter or do a manual regen. Usually there is no notification that it is doing one. Apparently you are suppose to be able to hear the difference, but I can't. I've had my truck in 6 times in 3 years for sensor replacement and manual regen. You can get a device called Autel 808 which is a scanning tool, but also allows you to monitor soot filter, time since last regen and most importantly you can do the manual regen yourself if need be. They cost a bit less than $500.00 but well worth the money. Chevy could have included more to monitor critical systems. other than that I have had no problems with my truck.

    My stock "leveling kit after market suspension" 2016 canyon 2.8L 82k miles gets average of 28mpg highway. I have lead foot an like to ride left lane. I learned how to just work rpms play with cruise control and driving 4hrs in a day for work I can get anywhere from 20-28 depending on how I'm driving. My best is 33.6 and I'd get that super easy if I just rock 60-70 in middle to right lanes. This engine does better when has a payload or pulling trailer. Basically brake lights cost me mpg so get out of the way.

      on the plus side, being the smoke is made up of relatively large, heavy particles, it should settle out of the air fairly quickly.
