I love using alcohol markers and this is a great demonstration of them. I especially like that you did another illustration right after the first! You saw what you wanted to change and made it better. That persistence is admirable!
The water is the opposite of mountains. Mountain are dark at the horizon and pale farder away. The water ,is dark far away and lighter closer to you. You are absolutely amazing. I been watching your tutorial for many years. I love them. Have a wonderful day. 😎🤓
This was wonderful to watch! I've never really tried to do an entire piece in marker, except in a coloring book. This really gave me the inspiration and information I needed to try! Thanks so much Lindsay! 💜
I just completed my first marker “art” following along here. I’d been using my markers for coloring stamped images for cards. Because NO ONE in card making use bullet/chisel markers, I thought I’d goofed in what I purchased though they seemed to work perfectly well. I’m so pleased to find you and your advice to use what I have and then for you to show how to use this particular type of marker. Thank you!
Wow. Great pricing. Boy if I didn’t own several sets of these type of alcohol markers already. I would be buying those. That is a great price for any beginner.
wonderful video and beautiful artwork! I have to agree with you on the marker nibs. Our markers usually only had ONE nib and it was a big fat chunky, clunky block nib. lol I personally love the bullet/chisel combo sets. I value color variety over nib shape and the chisel/bullet sets tend to offer a much wider color variety. Your channel is fantastic. What a resource!
Those are so cool, Lindsay!! When I started trying alcohol markers I could not find many brands available; now there are so many great choices! And I could not find any tutorials on how to use them - it was your card-making tutorials that helped me! Your description and demonstration of these techniques are awesome and I can’t wait to try them! As always, thank you for sharing your experience and talent!! And you are STILL the best instructor I’ve have the pleasure to watch!!! You have such a natural way of teaching, and you are so relatable!!
Very cool video thank you for making it....You are an incredible artist, so amazing!!! Thank you for always giving us new content, even in these hard times, you always seem to be here for us when we need it the most and I know that takes a lot of time and sacrifice!! So thank you!!! Thank you and Thank you some more...Love your tutorials!!!
I know I should get on the marker wagon, but I have so many art supplies that I will never finish using. Maybe I’ll make a deal with myself to use up one supply (a watercolor set, a colored pencil set, etc.) before I can start buying markers. They look fun. Usually I see them used for manga or other cartoon art, it’s nice to see them used for landscapes.
I always love looking through your older videos Lindsay, even though I have been following along with you ever since I started in art, which is about 6 or 7 years now, your catalogue of awesome videos is so extensive and there are loads I missed, which make it all the more fun realising I missed an awesome video like this one when it first came out. Hope you are keeping well and talk to you soon.
This was fantastic! I’d love to see the real-time in Critique Club. Thank you for all you teach. You’ve been (and continue to be) a wonderful mentor. 💖
Thank you very much for this video! I am always looking for videos which show that markers can be used as "real media for fine Art", and I am very glad that I found that video of yours. I often think whether watercolour pieces could be done with markers - could you imagine doing such a video, trying to do a watercolour painting with markers? That would be great!
What an inspirational video!! I'm going to have my niece's watch this because they like to use markers. Thank you! I ordered the markers from your link, you really helped me out for a gift. God Bless
Absolutely beautiful! I never use them before but I was looking to see what it looks like to see if I want to try them and honestly, your paintings or drawings are absolutely gorgeous. Also I don't know if you know but Temu has amazing alcohol-based markers for super cheap. I had a friend who is absolutely shocked cuz she got over 150 colours for like 50 bucks or something like that
I'm surprised that you said you weren't happy with the first picture. I admire your talent for creating it from scratch. Personally, I would need something to follow, like a color-by-number situation. Great job on challenging yourself. I'm always doing that with whatever art project I'm doing. Happy coloring from Phoenix, AZ. 🤗❤️
Hi Lindsay, QUESTION: I have a question regarding blending two colors to get a third on a pallet. Have you every tried to blend them using rubbing alcohol and a brush? If so, what type of brush would you use? I don't have a large selection of markers would like to blend them on a pallet without using the markers themselves.
I just love markers and your landscapes are really beautiful. However, when I try to create a landscape with markers I run into 2 problems: 1. Even my light colours are pretty dark especially my blues (I have a huge assortment of different brands but none of them have lighter blues) 2. My sky is a mess as I don't know how to blend properly and the result is all blobby and streaky. I know the video is pretty old, but I hope you are still seeing this and can help. I used markers for underpaintings in realism and for comics in mixed media as well as caricature. Looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful art
I'm just getting into alcohol markers, just to make illustrations in my planner. What would you say is a good brand for a beginner trying to use them for fun. I'm a watercolor-painter but lately I haven't been able to paint because of my kids and just the whole not having enough time. Alcohol Markers seem like the next best that is quick & easy to work with. What brand would you recommend?
I'd go with the ohuhu brush and fine tip set: amzn.to/3QWHmay good quality and affordable and I think the brush and fine combo will be better than one of those and a chisel tip in a journal.
Quick question Lindsay. Are the bianyo markers better than the artify markers or vice versa. I’m looking for a good set of alcohol markers and looking at which ones to get. I have watched both of your videos. But, which one would be a better option? ❤
Will this be in critique club? I would really like to learn how to use my markers. And no I have not been able to see all that is available in the lessons so maybe there is already one there? I love these, I think they’re great!
Can I know does the paper going to effect the way we used the alcohol marker? Because I tried doing this once but it doesn't become as snooth as I want
Great video. Love the way it came out. I don't have any alcohol markers, so clicked the link to go to the markers at 9:18 EDT on 8/30. I put them in my cart and check out was charging full price. Am I missing something ? Thanks
They offer a 72 set of brush nibs and they have the foam rubber flexible nib like copics and blick studio brush markers. They cost more than the bullet chisel versions they are still a good value.
these seem like great markers. I was surprised at first because I spent 200 something dollars on Prismacolor alcohol markers, but I also realized that this brand doesn't have a brush tip. Still very great price for the quality and quantity of what you get, even un-discounted.
Hi... I am on central time and it is 9:12 pm (I missed the special yesterday Sunday, 30th) and so tonight I have tried several times and have not been able to see the Bianyo Markers at the discounted price. I would really like to try these markers, they seem very neat!! Please let me know what I can do to take advantage of this awesome discount!!!! Thank you!
I'm not sure what you mean? The light source in the first pic is the sun in the center of the sky area. It lights up the clouds around it and the water. The 2nd has a soft glow coming from the sky lighting the water subtlety.
Just figured it out, something they forgot to tell Lindsay is that the sale had a certain number of units they were selling at that discounted price and that sold out within an hour apparently.
Wow! I don't think they anticipated running out. I had a feeling it might happen so I put while supplies last in the description. They are doing it again tomorrow (info in description) so ud set an alarm on your phone so you can grab it tomorrow.
@@thefrugalcrafter yes ma'am I saw that it just confused me because they still are selling the markers just at 89.99 price point. I figured they didn't tell you that if they ran out of the limited stock they would sell at that price, during the active time frames they would bump the price back up again.
I notice you keep calling it a painting, though this is not, as there are no brushes, these are markers with ink. Unlike ink, paints don't dissolve into any solution and turn into a water-like form.

Looks like a Pushaw lake sunset!

Wow supper pretty I love both pictures.

I'm just trying with markers but I'm so lost on them iv been used to using soft pastel or coloured pencils paint ext..
wow sensational ! gotta go try
Thanks for the two marker paintings. I learned a lot and I ordered the markers. Couldn’t beat the price.

You can but id recommend using a synthetic brush an yupo paper. It will be a different look than markers because it so much more liquid.

I recommend getting some really pale colors. Ohuhu has 2 affordable sets of pastels as does arrtx. They will work with the other brands you have.
Imma going to give this one a go!

Alas, they don't seem to be shipping to Canada.
Bummer, maybe they have a listing on the canadian Amazon
Do these markers come with brush tips? Or just the pen and chisel tip?

It depends in the look I want. For this I used this marker paper but if I want to blend more I use more of a cardstock. What look are you going for?
@@thefrugalcrafter i want to go for look of landscape like sky , tree n water.

Amazing

I don't see the kind of paper you used with these pens. Please tell me.
Bianyo marker paper

Marker paper. It's smooth, thin and coated to reduce ink use
