Aha! That's the reason why I keep on falling backwards. I have been saving some balls either right next to me or slightly behind me and I did not have that tensed abs position - okay position was there, but the tension was not there. Thank you Dennis!

It seems like Paul would have made quite a good goalie if he'd started earlier :-D
    He's pretty talented!
I love your goalie appreciation month videos, taught me a lot even after being a goalie for almost 20 years now. I'll now go and rewatch your video about kicking again and again. I got taught to kick the ball like a football player would but your technique is so much better, especially for keeping to balls from becoming high and uncontrolled.
Keep up the good work guys! :-)

Ohhh...the tennisballs, they always get stuck in the visor of my helmet😂. My goalietrainer tied me to a pole once to keep me from moving because I was really scared. But i had just broken a collarbone from a hard ball and i had just "healed" so it was pretty legitimate. But yeah it did help my fear i guess😑
He's a really good trainer though and he helped me a lot.

When I just started, my trainers just got hockey balls and threw them at my helmet to get me not to be scared of the balls . They always said it was to show you were save even if the ball came from close distance.(Btw I was about 8/9 so I wasn’t playing on the whole field)

One thing when I start off new (or junior) keepers is to poke them with the handle of the hockey stick. First poke in front - pads, chest plate, shorts, helmet. "Does it hurt?" - "no". Then turn them around and poke in the back, the back of the leg, the shoulder. "Does it hurt?" - "Yes". Same with the ball. Face it. Trust your padding. You can only get badly hurt if you turn your back.

Hello Dennis: this video was very useful for me. I don't speak English very well, I'll try do be clear In my question. The goal keeper's position which you showed in the video it's comfortable for me, but my team, asked me close my legs, because the ball will cross in this space, what do you recommend to me? Could you please help me? Thanks you so much for your time. Love from Argentina. 😀😀😀

Worst tip ever to give a goalie ;)
When your feet are next to eachother your not strong and explosive to reach the corners, so the balls will go in there..
Try to keep your feet forward and shoulder width :)

If you scared of the ball, go straight to the ball so you are sure it will hit you where you are protected.

My suggestion would be, don't run towards the ball when they play it at you. If you're standing still in basic position, you can always react
