I have deleted my social media apps (twitter, facebook and instagram) last year. I also deactivated my twitter and facebook acct this year. It made me present on occasions not mindlessly scrolling :) thank you for the greyscale mode tip, Alex. God bless. And like your intro's the bible verses.
I still have a not very good relationship with social networks and my cell phone, I have been trying to slow down and simplify the whole process a little bit more, because this has hurt me a lot.
love this video! i’ve been praying and seeking wisdom in this area of my life lately. i’ve taken so many breaks from social media this year but even when you get back on, it’s so easy to fall back into the same unhealthy habits. i’m about to start reading “digital minimalism” by cal newport and i’m “experimenting” with different ways to help myself spend less time on my phone. i’ve found choosing certain days to not go on social media helps to reduce your attachment to the apps, like taking breaks on weekends or skipping a day in a week. it takes a lot of discipline though but it’s so worth it!
My notes: 1-know your screen time. 2-delete unnecessary apps. 3-turn off your notifications. 4-turn on do not disturb 5-create a less fun phone(remove colors(?) 6-make it inconvenient to use distracting apps 7-put your phone somewhere inconvenient 8-set a time to check your phone 9-set time limits for the apps you use alot Thanks 😊
Needed this haha! Thank you for sharing these tips! Making everything less convenient to access is such a good way to reduce screen time - I've also found that I have to frequently switch the locations of my apps because my brain memorizes them so quickly and I then find myself opening social media before I even know what I'm doing 🥵
Why does changing your phone to greyscale actually work?! I changed it right after watching this video and it really makes everything seem so boring! Thanks Alex for all the great tips!!! 😊
I started by organizing the apps in folders to get a more minimal look to every time I unlock it then I gave a try to turn off all notifications and it has been a little weird because I was checking my checking my phone every time I had a notification - staying away from my phone and using it less or when it's really necessary will be worthwhile.
For me, putting distracting apps on the last side and setting time limits don't work (like if I really want I can skip the time limit). The access is too easy. I already deleted unnecessary apps and turned off notifications. I really like the tip to set defined times to check social media. With the new iOS i love the new focus modes to define your phone using type.
Trying to do this. But as a hairstylist I get most of my clientele through social media so it is so hard!! Really trying to focus it on just work but it’s not easy!😂
I deleted all social media apps (actually only had insta and tumblr left anyway) from my phone but not my ipad so I can use them on my ipad but the situation of going to my ipad and holding tht 12“ thing in my hands is enough to let my brain know „okay you‘re here to check up on what‘s new and nothing else“ It‘s physically uncomfortable to look for longer than a couple of minutes. Also, there‘s still the browser version of almost all social medias, when I really need to look at something on the go I can still open the browser page which is less convenient and always advertises for the app haha. I really need to force myself to get off social media because my brain will just use it mindlessly. but i feel much better when i don‘t use it a lot.
Hi! Thanks for this nice video. I am usually using my phone for like three hours. I think thats okay. There are days where I use it six hours, I dont want that. So i hope these tips are gonna help me. Ty, Raphaela :)
I had set my screen time limit but I would still ignore it. So to stop that I set a screen time password which I had typed by closing my eyes so even if I want to ignore it I can't. I you really want to reduce your screen time you should try this.

I have managed to do this for reducing social media and other distractions but e-mail is a problem (especially if I am doing job hunting and use it in my current job as an admin assistant). How would I go about using e-mail in a minimalist fashion?
Let’s figure out if I need this video.
1. My screen time is 11 hours. And oh shit that’s 20 % less than last week!
Yes I need this video.
Same here
i didn’t realize how much happier a person can be when they aren’t on their phone every single hour of a day

Just remember that it’s a process, don’t expect yourself to become perfect overnight! 🤍
I put my running app where my reddit app used to be, so now every time I instinctively reach for reddit, I remind myself to go out and run
but you don't actually do it sooo
I appreciate so much the Bible verses at the big inning of each of your videos!

Yes! I've taken some breaks from IG and it is so easy to fall back into the bad habits! 😣

You are so sweet, thank you Marynica! 🤍
Great video! I find it super helpful to keep my phone in grayscale. If you’re interested, Cal Newport’s book Digital Minimalism is a good read 😊

I deleted Instagram and pinterest & all like offline games that I almost never use. I'll put a limit on them rn.
I NEED to delete youtube, but then I can’t do my workouts 😫
Use a workout app, it will help you not to depend on YT.
