That is some DAMN good music. To be in my twenties again. I'm 60 and I can't believe the music is still just as good today as it was then. Never got old. Can't Celine ever it been almost 40 years ago
Yes that is The same Uncle Charlie Wilson , him and his two brothers were The Gap Band with a string of legendary hits from the 70’s to the 80’s, he still does a lot of Gap Band songs live in concert now. They name the band after 3 streets in their hometown of Tulsa Oklahoma - Greenwood , Archer and Pine, all,us old schoolers would sometimes call them “ the boys from Greenwood ,Archer and Pine!” The funk was real in the 70’s and 80’s and Charlie Wilson and his brothers brought it! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've said it a million times...I'm so thankful to have grown up in the 70s/80s. We had the best music of all genres. Charlie Wilson was the lead vocalist of Gap Band! We took good music for granted, thought it was normal and it would just continue forever. The music today can't touch the 60s/70s/80s. Mid-90s is when music went downhill for me.
All about the funk. The best thing about this era is all the famous Rnb, rock, country, jazz, and all other joundras of music hung out together and shared their musical ideas. Imagine some of the jam sessions we don’t know about. ❤️❤️.
Yeah Asia, that's Uncle Charlie Wilson and The Gap Band is definitely a vibe! Love their music. So many great songs. If you haven't already check out Early in the Morning, Yearning For Your Love, Outstanding Party Train, and Opps Upside Your Head.
college days....used to put my speakers in the window and BLAST this. folks would stop what they were doing n start dancing on the patio. after it was over they'd yell for me to play it again...😉😀🔥❤
My favorite Gap Band song ... well, I love "You Dropped A Bomb On Me" too! It was a banger in the clubs back in the 80s! Love that they're from Tulsa, OK, and yes, Oklahoma is very proud of them! Yes, Charlie Wilson was the lead singer for the Gap Band! Loved this reaction! Thank you! ✌💙✌
That is Charlie Wilson! He was the lead singer for the Gap Band. This was back in the late 70's. They are all brothers. I believe two have passed away.
My absolute favorite Gap Band song!! Always puts you in a good mood!! You definitely need to watch the video of them singing this! They are all Decked out and in sync with the moves!!
I didn’t hear this until I was in college and that would’ve been in the 1990s! Stood up just as well as it did when it was first released and it still stands up today!
Oh yeah now your rocking! The Gap Band along with Parliament-Funkadelic were among the many Funk Bands to feature the Synthezied Bass. The Gap Bands sound however was a combination of Rock,Soul & Pop. This song was THE song during my senior year in High School. Outstanding. 😆. That's another big jam from them. Check it out.
Asia , BJ this one the one of many songs of thiers we party to. This one packed the dance floor. Yes that's Charlie Wilson!!! His brothers are also in the group.
The Funk originators. The Gap Band gave us a new sound back in the 70s.That sound is still amazing. They look like they were having so much fun Check out, "Humpin".
I was driving on the Miami strip on a Friday night, the traffic was so much we weren't even moving, so I put this CD (song) on with the top down on my convertible, BLASTED IT, got out the car and started dancing in the middle of the strip. Within seconds I had like 20 people surrounding my car and dancing too! 😎
Great reaction guys 👍 Gap Band had some of the funkiest hits back in the 80's. Good ears Asia...lol. That is indeed Uncle Charlie. Charlie Wilson and his brothers formed the band. Hits like "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" "Early un in the Morning" "Outstanding " Charlie Wilson went on to have an excellent solo career later on in life. RIP to the older brother Ronnie Wilson who recently passed away. 👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥
Fun fact. Pharell did an interview with David grohl of the Foo fighters and back in the 90s nirvana played drums for the band. He was a funk fan and for the album Nervermind took influences from the gap band among others. If you listen to the drum intro to Smells like teen spirit, David uses the same intro from Burn rubber. Blew pharell's mind.
I was familiar with You Drop The Bomb on Me and loved it, I seen a Gap Band greatest hits CD and bought it just for that...I was stunned 😳 they jammed, I was a metal head too
EDIT: yes! That’s Charlie Wilson! 😁Whooo wheee! One of my top 3 funky, bands of all time- LOVE sooo many of their songs, but this is a top favorite! Alright.. about to watch , so let’s get it! lol ❤️💃✨
Charlie Wilson and brothers Ronnie and Robert are total funk legends. If the Gap band doesn't get you up and moving, you better get to a doctor quick because you might already be dead.
If y'all love this, then you will lose your mind d with the group Fatback and the song "Backstroke" . This song everybody and they mama got on the Dance floor.

This was such a fun roller skating song. It brings back fun memories.
Their first jam was Shake your booty (at the disco). That song made me a life long fan. R.I.P. Robert & Ronnie.
I've said it a million times...I'm so thankful to have grown up in the 70s/80s. We had the best music of all genres. Charlie Wilson was the lead vocalist of Gap Band! Around this time I was playing in a hard rock band, but when we'd go on break and the DJ would play songs like this I had to hit the dance floor...
Great freakin song, can never get tired of it. When his voice grinds, classic.
That is Charlie Wilson! He was the lead singer for the Gap Band. This was back in the late 70's. They are all brothers. I believe two have passed away.

Loving The Gap Band, you really gotta hear *"Wednesday Lover"* by them. Beautiful, sexy slow jam. My favorite by them.
The Wilson brothers. Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert. They named the group after streets in their neighborhood....Greenwood, Archer and Pine. GAP 💯
This is the best song the Gap Band did! Perfect beat. Perfect music!
Never seen BJ feelin’ a song quite like this. Interesting fact: Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit’s drum line was influenced by this song.
Love this song and band
Classic 80s funkiness
This song brings me back to the year 1981 ... Theme song for me of that year
