This video should be renamed to "Horrifying Process of Making A Guitar Shaped Object". The sloppy work, the incorrect measurements, the materials he uses, the techniques. It's fundamentally wrong. I wouldn't ever be so bold as to call that thing a guitar. And calling the man a musical instrument master is an insult to all luthiers in existence. There's a damn reason people learn instrument making for years and not just slap together pieces of wood and metal until it looks similar to a musical instrument.
He's not making a guitar. He's making a living. I know what you mean, but he's also working to his market. If he could use better tools and materials, more time, the local market couldn't afford it. It's easy for afluent societies to be out of touch with the realities of this world. This video is profound. Good on you bloke! Keep building!
I think you're wrong.. from now on...I'm gonna nail my guitars together!! XD
Respect to this man.
That’s harshly phrased, but in truth the ebonized bridge, neck, back and sides are hardly high-end Luther. More important, the lack of care in intonating the instrument means it is apt to play out of tune. That said, there is a place in the world of music for affordable instruments, as the stellar music of Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, Django Reinhardt and many other music geniuses of folk, blues and country music attests.
As soon as I saw the nails I thought oh dear this is not going to be good, the reason he did not tune it is because of the break angle and the action, he would have to put so much pressure on the strings while holding an open chord it would be all out of tune, and instead of cutting the nut to the correct size he cut massive gouges in it in an attempt to lower the action
If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it. Amazing. When I build a guitar, I am so very careful. His main tool appears to be a freakin' hammer! These are low quality instruments, obviously, but damn! If nothing else that was incredibly refreshing . . . just in terms of his approach to instrument building.
😭😭😭
Yah refreshing alright....I bet u will not use this method to make one guitar....
@@fredgoh You got that right! But being super careful has it's problems too. It intimidates you, keeps you stalling before tackling particularly tough or stressful tasks. . . . and that's why they invented the CNC router! Which I don't own.
Я тоже подумал когда же он бензопилу подключит к созданию истинного инструмента ?!😀
right, i didnt see a vise of any kind or did i see how he bent the sides. if that is the sound of the instrument toward the end of the video, then i would call the end result a failure. antonio torres built fantastic guitars with just hand tools and his guitars are renown today across the world. but the video was amazing to watch, to bad he could not get the intonation to work correctly. i could watch this guy work all day, he is a craftsman.
This is so, so cool!!! That smile at the end! It's so refreshing! All the best for this amazing guy!
He is very skilled and if he had better materials and maybe better tools, he would probably make excellent instruments. These instruments, however, probably won’t last very long. With steel strings and no truss rods, the necks will bend upward within a year and they will be unplayable. It also looks like top, bottom and sides are made of plywood or some other laminated wood. I wonder how much the craftsman gets per guitar compared to how much the final buyer pays. I would bet that they are advertised as “ hand made instruments” (which is correct) and sold for a lot of money. Interesting and educational to watch, however.
The neck needs adjustment. I'll just pry off this big trussrod cover and...son of a bitch!
I want this guitar made with the effort and care of the craftsman.😀
Getting it for free is still too expensive.
Uncle’s Crap Factory. Not everyone who is old is a “Master”.
So true. This is awful.
Hats off to the community which does not cry over the things they don't have instead work with what they have. 🤩
the ebony fretboards take about a hundred years to grow to that size...that and the rosette nearly killed me....!!!
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
He used what he had. If anyone here thinks he made a fine guitar, you have never played one.
Looks like plywood and pallet wood. It will make sound and that’s about it.
@@trappenweisseguy27 When he nailed that nut into the fretboard I had the best laugh I've had in a while.
Yeah, me too. But I also laughed at him putting on a truss rod cover when there is no truss rod lol. It would be interesting to know what he sells these for locally. I doubt any of the locals can afford more than $20. Also, there’s a good chance those frets will fall out given that there’s no barbs on them. He would do well to drill some indentations on them for the glue to hang onto.
Hanging on a wall in a dark room it would look like a guitar. These appear to me to be decorations, not instruments.
@@kinkywinks The masterful way he sharpied on the rosette rings nd the bindings, just stellar craftmanship!
Great effort, but he knows fuck-all about how proper guitars are really made.
Truly respect to you sir, with least tools made a masterpiece with his hand work 👌🏻❤️ where is this awesome artist, would love to meet him in person

Such hard working elders who work for musicians should have long and healthy life. Let us prey god.
I like the viboe
Horror! This is the worst guitar I've ever seen in my life. The master is certainly "well done" that he still extracted a sound from a piece of wood, but with his skills it is better for him to make boxes for vegetables and fruits.
I agree. Making boxes would be a MUCH better value.
I respect his skills and time for building the guitar with limited tools and materials. Being a guitar player and having seen how high-end guitar manufacturers built the guitar. Some parts of the build surprised me like Darkening the fretboard to look like it was Ebony or rosewood, no Trussrod, The fretwire used, the white dots inlay with korex eraser, zero fret with separate nut, no proper finishing with sandpaper. Well it can be compromised considering the price.
Thanks for your valuable comment
All these problems can be fixed without any additional effort and it can be a real guitar
@@mohsin20003 as a Matter of fact! It is important for a guitar to have a truss rod! If not anything atleast a truss rod! But never the less we need to appreciate the man's dedication skill and love for his work too, and indeed it is a real instrument, maybe not for a long run but still it's no less than any branded ones.
U know...even with limitations, u know he can do better. Eg glue the bracing for goodness sake not nail them ....
I can respect him for being a hardworker. But that is not skill if u ask me. Nope it is not even close.
@@fredgoh yes but people in india all are not very fortunate my friend, to make a competitive guitar this man could not afford expensive tools.

Hands are blessed with craft. This old gentleman makes guitar with so much of passion. Often we reject local hand made guitars so easily because of its quality and sound but never knew that makers are so much capable of making world-class guitars. Only they need financial support and proper tools to use. And his smile made me cry. So much ignorance by elite and rich people but still he smiles making six strings. Love from bottom of my heart.
I dont think that neck will stay very straight without a truss rod and once the tension of the strings is applied this will result in an unplayable instrument, also that is not real fret wire that is being used for the frets and I did not see any fret dressing and with the fretboard not being made with a dense tone wood there will be more expansion and that wire will move or drop out, the winding of the strings has to be the worst example I have ever seen, the nut slots were not cut to the correct angle and cut far too deep, this will cause the open chords to be out of tune, I suspect this is why the guitar was not tuned, but all this is immaterial as the angle of the bridge saddle was totaly incorrect making the intonation non existant, this is not an instrument that will sound good
The first fret is just next to the nut ? 😶😶
The headstock isn't angled ?
Using acoustic strings on a neck without a truss rod?
They are really talented but they didn't care about building a real guitar
This one will be unplayable at least because of the first fret position so it's just for decoration.
Sorry for appearing rude but that made me cringe

This is a GSO. Guitar shaped object. Quite un- conventional , but considering the tools and time taken , it is a fantastic GSO. Sounds 'different' . Wonder what the cost is. By the way it is made in pakistan. Great carpenter. The man is really gifted.
Not sure what his gift is, but okay.

This ain't it man, it feels insulting to the actual guitar to call this wooden box one.
Not taking anything away from his skill but these guitars are very cheaply made with scrap wood. Wood quality is everything when it comes to guitars.

Amazing. There are no words to describe the skills, the techniques and the care involved in the whole process, seeing how the guitar was made 100% by hand.
Have You ever seen a real guitar? And You are definitively no instrument builder.
These could be best described as, 'Guitar shaped objects".
