- BART was expected to arrive in San Jose and Santa Clara in 2026, but now officials say rising labor and construction costs will delay the project 10 years.

How about BART to Livermore, the residents have been paying for it for forty years.
BART looked into that but realised the projected ridership wouldn't justify the cost

I'm sorry but this is beyond unacceptable. They've had how much money, how much time and how much inconvenience invested in this? And still nothing to show for it? Maybe a tunnel isn't going to work and perhaps at grade and elevated tracking is needed to get it done TODAY. We're not going to wait 60 years for a service that actually is outdated and needs to be defunct anyway.

The San Jose Mayor's statement is laughable. Yes, it will come back to the voters to fund this, once again.
i voted yes for some 20yrs ago. it was supposed to be at diridon already. all large public projects are a scam. especially if there is no roi.
Milking it out...this is more criminal than those "road repairs" I often see where construction crews just inexplicably rip up areas in Hayward and other towns...during WEEKDAYS..and never during the summer months causing traffic backups all up and down Mission and foothill or Hesperian. I can only imagine the overtime these vultures get from dragging out these infrastructure projects.
Let's waste billions on a system that has lost half of its riders who may not return.

What the hell. 10 years for 16 miles? In that time brightline west will have built La to last Vegas hsr and CaHSr will also be complete. I’m really curious as to exactly what is so complicated about this project

Now they're saying it's going to be $12 Billion. San Jose has been without BART for 50 years now. Nobody is riding the light rail. Why do they think folks will use Bart?
