I'm HORRIBLE with Zen but I can get way too much value with him for my team if the dps are just decent at focusing targets with the orb.
Same. If I'm on support and just nothing is working, I can go Zen and the game instantly turns around if I just click E on the tank. It's only a fair fight if the other team also goes Zen at that point. Every comp game I've played this season devolves into a Zen mirror match because of that. You don't win without him if you're against him at this point.
@@razrv3lc You both are lying. No way in hell youre having value when you put out low healing and discord only. Maybe in low ranks but no way in mid and high ranks.
@@mistameff3528 Just discord the tank and you will win if the enemy doesn't get a zen. Their tank is reduced to a squishy because of it and they can't take much space. It is that easy.

I love that people complain about zen and discord orb as they ego challenge zen at every rank. Cloudy getting upset as he charges in on cd was sweet sweet sweet music to my ears.
The problem is physically being unable to peek or do anything really because the dps don't feel like doing their jobs lmao
@@switchblade6 how is that the zen's fault? Every hero has their own unique kit for a reason. No one complains about tank damage being incredibly overtuned. No one complains about healing being overtuned. But a discord orb everyone loses their mind
@@mr30belowAK because you're entire team gets value for an enemy existing you're entire team does 25% more dmg to a target because they exist. Effectively reducing their hp by 25%. There is little to no counter play especially as a tank because there is no cooldown on discord and he can reapply it anytime from basically anywhere as long as he can see you. Like you can hide for a few seconds so it goes away then repeek but then he'll just reapply it. You can't hide forever or you will lose. It just isn't a fun mechanic to play against.
@Mr30below It's just incredibly oppressive because there's zero genuine counterplay if you're using tank aside from leave line of sight for a few seconds but if you do you just get re-discorded because there's zero cooldown

I personally am glad us supports have Zen because tanks are nigh unkillable without discord. In an elo where target focus is a myth and peeling for supports your own job, playing Zen might get me killed more often but at least I feel like I'm doing something

As rein if you dont dive zen you lose, if you dive zen you might win but more often than not lose.

i wouldnt hate zen so much at times if he didnt also make dps even squishier, like 500hp-400hp is big but 200hp to like 130hp is just nah, you will die to any headshot or a pocket mercy dps amp

@@fuscello A good tank knows how to work around sleep darts. Thats the only thing you gotta do. Watch Ana cds and thats it. In a good dive, when youre tanking the sleep youll get extra value since youre most likely not gonna die in a burst combo.

The worst offense is that it adds an extra layer of complexity by having abilities do different things vs different classes. I firmly believe abilities should be standard across the board but I could see them doing something similar with Zen

god I miss bad spawn on some maps, especially Gi-brawl-tar. That map is aids to push second if they get to set up. Thankfully most players in ranked dont read patchnotes lmao, so occasionally you find a straggler to make second point easier.
What if discord lowered the targets damage numbers by half instead of increasing damage taken.

I feel like a change that could be made is discord should only be able to be put on one target until they die, and/or a like, 3 sec cooldown so you can’t rapidly just mow a whole team down at once
Another thing they could do is just reduce the dmg but the whole point of discord is to melt tanks that are unkillable (although you really should just focus the supports)
the whole point of zen is that you have to be able to move discords/heals quickly between people to maximise value. his kit is logically easy but hard to play and get value out of - if you can rapidly mow down the whole team as zen then gg youre playing him well but if not then it's easy to end up feeding the enemy
Dude... They all just kept making the same brainless plays into a Zen, who just makes you take 25% more damage and was being played by someone they know is competent...

Don’t get zen nerfed please :(. His discord is his primary support ability. They’d need to buff his healing capabilities to balance it out
He needs a rework as a whole tbh, he was made for 6v6 as one of the first supports in the game, doesn't fit in 5v5.
no they wouldn't. His discord has been buffed and nerfed all through the life of OW1 without ever touching his healing. It's just getting to a point it's time to nerf it again. It never should have made it to OW2 in its current state honestly. It's too strong against one single tank. That or the ability needs to be reworked so that it expires and is on a cooldown so it can't constantly be up.
Buffing his healing wouldn’t change that the only defense he got is his damage with discord.

Another really good thing about Zens Discord orb is that if you tag an enemy you can ping them through walls which can help your team mate in locating the enemy if you try to communicate to them that somebody is low and they should chase the kill etc.

Zen is a perfectly balanced support with no weakness and possibly the best ability in game. perfectly balanced as all things should be

not an OW1 player but i can see why zen is a problem for tanks in OW2. OW1 discords a tank they still got an off tank so not as impactful, probebly better off one shotting a squishy now in OW2 a zen ball removes tanks compleatly so a rework would be nice
I agree, but he’s also very diveable, has a big hitbox, and is super slow, so if he’s reworked too much he could become too useless
i think widowmaker should be reworked too bc of the lack of 2nd tank which makes it hard to deal with her too
I just think Discord needs to be on a cooldown. The numbers wouldn't have to change if the ability didn't have infinite and instant up time even at long range. If the Zen player actually had to think about when to use the ability to get value from it, it would be MUCH better to play against. Also makes it so if the Zen uses it at a bad time, they're punished for it... like every other hero in the game who is punished for using their abilities poorly.
There are almost no abilities that are infinitely usable without a resource, cooldown, or timer. Especially not one this strong. Mercy's damage boost is the only comparable ability but that stops her from healing entirely, has short range, is single target (meaning only one teammate benefits from it), AND is a much lesser damage boost percentage. It's weaker in pretty much every way to Discord because of these things and its why people are crying about Zen so much and not so much about Mercy.
I think it should be on like a 8-10 second cooldown and let the ability expire on the target after 5 seconds even without LOS. That way it's a nerf and a buff (nerfed because it's not got 100% uptime anymore but buffed because you don't have to keep LOS for it to stay on your target anymore which would help your teammate follow up on targets that back off into cover).
I just wish they'd use the experimental card or the PTR again to try ANYTHING. They just won't try things anymore. The updates to balance are so slow and uninspired when they could constantly be trying new stuff out on PTR or experimental.

@@insecticaa With widow, I would like to see more map changes than anything tbh. More cover, less huge open sightlines. Widow is fine if you can dive her, but when she's a mile away it's a little annoying lol
Zen is a free kill, if you play him as such. I have made him very dangerous in my games that the enemy had to tackle me in a group and suffering casualties.
Why do you call Zen's ult tranq? A tranq would be a tranquilizer dart like Ana's lol
