My AS makes falling asleep and staying asleep very difficult. I did this yoga routine last night right before bed. Best sleep I've had in months. Thank you

@@WellWithHels Hmm.. with seronegative spondyloarthritis, we need to focus on elongating and curving our spine because it becomes rigid and stiff if we don’t use it very long. We can’t twist very much either but with consistency, we can. Hips and knees are affected because of this. I hope this helps ❤️
This looks like I could do most of it. I'm getting a yoga mat and a block tomorrow and starting a daily routine with this video. My hips might have some trouble with some of the leg movements but I can modify them, just go down as far as I can comfortably go and then back up again
@@WellWithHels I've also been watching some chiropractor videos and I'm seeing the same stretches here as there. I'm sure this will help with the pain I'm in. I'm getting ready to go to the shops and get my first yoga gear... My mother always laughed at anything under the "new age" banner, including yoga, but I don't believe she ever really looked at it. This is my birthday present to myself. I personally rarely feel the emotion of excitement, so I'll let you do that for me :)
Do you have any modifications I could do for when I must lie on my back? Often that's really painful for my lumbar spine/SI joints due to the inflammation. The stretches are so so nice, but the pressure can sometimes cause a ton of pain. I don't know if adding a soft pillow would be beneficial since it raises the hips. Thanks for your fantastic video!
Hello Hayley! Thank you so much for choosing to practise with me :) An alternative would be a seated version on this... The first movement in this video demonstrates: ua-cam.com/video/jwXdYgHUKTI/v-deo.html Or a yin caterpillar pose with a pillow underneath your bottom, that would help stretch the area without putting pressure on. Really hope that helps, but honestly if you try it with a pillow underneath and it feels good, perfect!! x x x
Hey! I think it's best to have an intuitive approach.... So whenever you feel up to it and it's not making you feel worse, go for it 💖 I would say, don't over do it in the beginning as some of these movements or stretches might be new to you, so the body initially might be like "what the 😱", so please be mindful and take care 🙏
Hey Nicole, this practise will not heal anyone. I created it for those who would like to bring some soothing and gentle movement into their day, whilst working with Ankylosing Spondylitis... Hey! I would say there is no set amount... Start with 1-2 times a week and if you feel good you can increase to everyday (it's low impact and gentle enough for that)..... Nice video, very helpful for me thank you! But the rhythm is too fast, and patients with ankylosing spondylitis will be unable to keep up with the rhythm due to soreness in certain parts. ❤

I managed a couple of moves but the pain in my lower back hurts too much on the floor i think i might be best starting these on a mattress
Doing these on a mattress is a great idea! I think someone else also mentioned this in the comments 🥰🙏
Using yoga along with following a low starch diet is key
