Q - "what will I get out of enlightenment?"
A- "the one that's asking that question won't be even there to experience it." 😇

There is a way, always, to speak to people without making them feel, wrong. E.T. did that masterfully with this question. It's so obvious when someone is teaching from presence. Peace.

I had never been conscious, I think not just once, till I read for the first time The Power of Now, four years ago.
It has become my Bible. Last month I bought another copy of the book, so I can still read it when I become older (I´m 34 now).
I had the great privilege to assist to one of Eckhart's events, last year in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The most problems about seeking enlightenment arise, when you cling to a concept of enlightenment. Just now, be, there is nothing to become, beyond all concepts, understanding the isness, if you seek, you wont find, if you let go of it, you may find.

8:33 ... That makes me remember how every time I am on the border of being conscious, my ego becomes even more expressive as if it were shouting or throwing a temper tantrum in order to overshadow my consciousness.
"The one who's asking the question, won't even be there to experience it."
It is difficult to suppress the ego, because the ego will be persistent in order to make sure that it doesn't become suppressed or disintegrated.
Much of the ego is part of our physiology, it is our "default state." It is our behaviors that happen regularly, many times without our conscious knowledge/decision.
The ego isn't our enemy. It is merely the way we tend to behave whenever we are not conscious. And we cannot be conscious 100% of the time. Therefore, we actually must have some reliance on the ego/default state.
The key thing to understand is that both your ego and the conscious-you, is that all versions of yourself share one body. You both work in tandem in order to be a better you. Of course though, the ego goes about things many times in idealistic ways; which, as we know, can be problematic.
Allow yourself more moments of consciousness. If you do this, you'll have more leverage for guiding your unconscious self.

In my opinion you cannot kill or get rid of ego. Focusing on it may disintegrate pain body, but you shouldn't perceive ego as an enemy or parasite, because it will use this image to trick you into fighting with yourself again.
I like to perceive ego as a wild, lonely wolf, which shouldn't be too big because then it starts to be aggresive and attacks it's surroundings. At some point in our history, as a humans, we began coopering with these powerful creatures, because they were important in our conscious development. The thing is,this cooperation is no longer necessary.

For me the pain in my life got in a certain point so excrutiating that it disolved itself, I realised that separation from the mind that he talks about.... I just realised that all the pain was created by my mind, it did not define me as I thought before and I (the true spirit of me) had been happy all along, and my true state , living forever in the moment , was happyness... I don't know if I explained myself clearly.... After that I started reading about it, Eckhart, Osho, etc. and saw that the same thing already happened to other people too and they named it enlightment... I don't see it as enlightment.. I just see it as understanding that we are all linked, all creations and it gives me a state of calm and happyness indeferent of what the life brings.

It's taken a while to get my head around this but I think I've managed. My entire family has been diagnosed with bipolar, and or schizophrenia then consequently sectioned or committed suicide.
Fortunately for me I was able to come across such videos such as this and also the teachings of Echart Tole at my time of "awakening" and was able to transition and transcend. I can't say it's been easy, in fact is been painful and very destructive. But finally I feel like have finally made time for all 4 rooms in my life, spiritual, physical, mental and emotional.
I have become at peace with my inner madness. I have found peace in the now.
I never thought 4yrs ago I'd channelling spirit or seeing evil entities consuming my friends.
    It's a funny old world.
Peace and love to you all my fellow "mental friends" x

the world of 'mental illness' is fascinating and almost the entire world suffers because of it. It may help if you disassociate from the idea of 'i, me, mine' and see that nothing exists outside of thought [when you sleep all is gone- i, the world, god...] but don't make thoughts 'mine'. Let them be, observing their coming and going- like clouds or birds on the background of the sky; like trains that come and go in a train station... but you don't have to hop on every train that stops by for... how long, a few minutes? If you don't jump on grabbing the identity of 'i, me, mine' that the mind appears to produce you still are, aren't you?!

Very good question. Ive heard this question asked alot by people who have just started meditating also. They say that they notice their mind is busier despite meditating.
The answer is that your mind isn't actually busier. It's that you are actually now more aware of your thoughts and more aware of your thinking habits that you realise how much you actually do think.

To some it up guys: Ego(mind) will not be satisfied with enlightenment. Ego is an illusion . Enlightenment is when you’ve accepted you’ve overlooked something that was already there and then embracing it. Thus, becoming one with it. Just so you know, it never ends.

  • @שגהש
    @שגהש Рік тому +1

“Enlightenment” can be very misleading. Pay attention to what Eckhart says: “There is a *danger* that the search of enlightenment is from a lack of satisfaction from what we have or have achieved in life. I have to know what I’m striving for because maybe it’s the wrong thing, maybe to achieve it is for me to…dissolve… I don’t know if I want it anymore. It will not cause some sort of greater fulfilment. A better motivation would be to be liberated from suffering, when the suffering gets too much.”
So, enlightenment may not be at all what we think or fantasise about. Sure, “enlightenment” sounds great, but it’s a word and we have no idea what this word is used to describe at all. By what he says it seems to me like it’s for people who come from a life of suffering, not for people who are somewhat happy.
“If the motivation to seek so-called enlightenment comes from that place of seeking some permanent fulfilment then it’s not going to work”

All I can say is this .salvation realisation .dissolution of the ego is seriously worth striving for .but like this great man has pointed out it's not what you think it is and to achieve this it's not easy ..you have to imagine yourself a seed if spiritual growth that's slowing blossoming..until you ripen. But when that is .well I'm still on that road .......best of luck people

I was listening to Eckhart's talk on "Don't get disturbed by anything" (good advice), but near the start he made this statement: "Everything that happens has an inevitability about it...the Universe brings everything about." But haven't we all made certain decisions in our past which could've so easily gone the other way? Decisions which had HUGE consequences for our later life situation. That is to say, our Ego has the power to make bad decisions (usually 'running away' decisions) which impact our life situation dramatically. So that, the Universe doesn't bring everything about, often our Ego causes new (usually negative) life situations; and as for "inevitable", I at least look back on several big decisions over the years and realise that I could have so easily decided the other way. It often seems like a card balanced on its edge that could so easily tip one way or the other. But is Eckhart agreeing with the Calvinists that everything, including our decisions, is pre-ordained??

The ultimate problem with seeking for Enlightenment is that its like a dog chasing its tail. People ask 'what must I do?' to obtain something thats already there. Virtually anything that one does gets in the way, because its ego driven. In an Enlightened state one does not need to control, because everything is already going as its supposed to. At best, as an ego identified being you can do your best to get out of the way of processes that are happening.
For those that are familiar with the law of attraction: Intend always gets answered. Energy moves towards a purpose the moment you tell it to. The problem is that, it doesnt always come immediately (for a multitude of reasons) which creates enough space for a person to throw doubt into the mix, messing up their intention.
If anything, 'trust' may very well be the most important thing when looking for Realization.

My answer would have been " No more suffering and a peace that passeth all understanding. The exposure of your true self where you would automatically feel love for all beings without any effort on your part. This automatic love will you give you a life lived joyfully. That is you would experience joy given to you by your true love for all things."
