First ? :) when I first started my husband said you gotta pay your dues… So I would do nice events dirt cheap to get started and get my own portfolio going… I would use other decorators pictures and put them in an idea book… To show them what I can do but also let them know that was not my work… I would get the job at a reasonable amount to get my foot in the door and get started and start my own portfolio… I have been doing this for 33 years now and have grown with this balloon industry… You are absolutely right in everything you say… If you make your work too cheap that’s exactly what happens… You’re giving them good advice… And yes when I had enough money to attend balloon conventions I would go to further my education… And any other classes that were online… Even though I have been in the business for a long time I still listen to people like you because we can always pick up new tips… And be around creative people to get our creativity moving… Thank you for your UA-cam
Hey just so I’m clear is the formula for pricing Materials x Labour ( hourly rate ) x overhead + profit margin ex “ 20% “ or is it formulated differently ?
This is a hard question to answer because it will depend on your personal style and what size balloons you are using! So it really comes down to practice and experience. This is definitely something we talk about in some Decor Lab School tutorials and in our private facebook group.
unfortunately or luckily there are no set price for all of the cities/regions. We have a pricing calculator available inside of our membership program that will give you most accurate way to calculate your work and provide pricing to your client. www.decorlabschool.com thanks
Me interesan mucho los temas, pero necesito traducidos al español o por lo menos tengan subtitulo. Gracias. Es una sugerencia para beneficio de las que como yo no saben inglés.
Actually you didnt include how much you would charge to rent your hoop out that you have in the background...how much if you already own it? And how much if you dont own it? Can you answer that and/or do an updated more detailed pricing video please?
Its all comes with experience . Just build a garland and take notes in how many 6 balloon clusters make a foot and go from there. Good luck. If you are wanting these measurements for pricing that becomes a bit more complexed . Checkout decorlabschool.com for more info

Do you think charging per foot instead of cost & materials will still make you as profitable? Do you recommend pricing per foot?
No we don't ever price by the foot. Better to account for the actual cost of materials.
How much would you charge for a 15 foot Christmas tree?
Just had this told to me from my contact at Amazon … cheap cheap … they used a new person …. And that new person isn’t valuing her work ..
How do you determine how many balloons needed per setup so that an accurate price can be determined? Is this learned in the DecorLab School?
