- In this episode, we chat to West Ham legend Alan Devonshire about his memories playing for the club and his Hammers XI.

What a player, different gravy. My all time favourite ⚒
I always enjoyed watching Devonshire, and I'll never forget the famous cross in the 1980 Cup Final. Such a genuine guy.
Dev's a top geezer!
Watched him growing up - he’s a genius he was the player I wanted to be !! Didn’t even get close
What a great guy, just have so many happy memories of devo flying down the left, what a player ⚒️
Great memories standing in the Chicken run watching this superb quality player....Thanks Alan Devonshire!
My pleasure!
That was the best place in the world to watch football, especially when we had a few worldies playing for is.
What a treat - so nice to hear from this great player who was a favourite of mine back then.
the most skillful player i have ever seen at west ham.
Even my young kids chant Alan Alan Devonshire. I love how humble Dev is. I hardly missed any of his games, even for England. No Huge signing on fee, no (fancy) car (s), no greedy agent. Just a lovely bloke who absolutely loved playing football. Kicked all over the place, never complained, just wanted to play. Privilege and an honour to have seen him play. Cheers Dev!
My footballing hero as a kid. Whenever I pulled on my West Ham shirt, when I was scoring a goal or taking a player on, in my mind I was 'Devo' or Sir Trev. Were it not for the injury I know he'd have gone on to establish himself in the England team. Was a buzz, like electricity in the air, when he got on the ball. Incredibly skilful and such a joy to watch. Enjoy watching his Maidenhead team when I can...they're doing extremely well this season and have a chance of getting in the Football League for the first time. Hope they do so. Nice to see Devo bringing academy players through there too.
Met Alan last night, what a diamond!
He's proper West Ham royalty that guy, Russ, - true world class!!
One of the greatest players in West Ham's history........ and most certainly the best signing!
legend Dev
Would love to have seen Devo and Brooking playing now.
First saw Dev playing for Southall and when he joined WHU I was sceptical😂 how wrong was I?
Definitely in my top 3 Hammer of all time and fully deserves being a legend amongst irons fans⚒⚒
Outstanding player. He was pure class even with a dodgy knee!
Totally agree!
What a player and what a lovely man. Glad I still bump into him on occasions. All he says is a echo of my views on present day. Stay safe Alan.
What a player, wow he was so exciting to watch.
Good enough to play for any team in the world.
That's the proper definition of World Class right there.
Only just discovered the site. Been a WH fan since early 60’s. A brilliant interview. Thank you. Many great memories and a great team Dev.
Make sure you watch them Derek and spread the word!
Dev! My hero!
Best left foot I've ever seen at West Ham. You could hear the ground lift and get more excited when he got the ball.
My favourite player ever. Had the white kit that Dev scored against Chelsea in (0-4), with number six on the back when I was 10 years old. Quality player. Love the channel. Especially with the ex-players picks.
What a day that was.
Dev should have played more for England dev great player dev and brooking together class. Today's players should watch old games pitches tackles work rate and love of the game they might learn something thanks for the memories top man Alan Devonshire
Another great show Russ ... I Love listening to Dev. I've watched Canning Town Len's film a good few times now and Dev shines out in that and this as a nice guy as well as a great player. @The thing about Trevor Brooking is, you know what he's he's going to do but you can't stop him doing it... lol ... Classic.
a genius of a player, he glided over the worst pitches and my only criticism is he was too unselfish. in today's game with the protection players get, he'd be unplayable and worth £100m+
couldn't agree more!
Spot on!
One of the best players to have worn the kit. Humble and great to watch 👍
And the rest!!
