During your moment of doubt on the dropperlord, its because he felt his defenses were good and his attention was elsewhere. Hackers are still human and his perfect vision doesnt mean perfect attention.
Yeah, his awareness of the minimap is terrible. In the early game he lost his reaper because he didn't move it until after 6 zerglings were on top of it. 3 minutes in there's not much to do but keep your only harassment unit alive, but he failed at that.
Yeah, it almost seems like him missing the ling drop is actually evidence that he IS map hacking bc someone with his MMR, probably would have noticed it coming in using maphack. He just isn't good enough even with the maphack haha
One thing harstem regularly forgets when watching map hackers is that they only appear to play well sometimes because of the cheats, when in reality they are very poor players fundamentally. The mistakes you see that make you think they are legit are their actual skill level showing through.
@@screes620 Exactly, since the hacking pushes them to an MMR above their actual skill, they won't be able to keep up with the mechanics normally needed for that level, so when Harstem doesn't understand how someone didn't react to something, it's easily explained that they just aren't able to pay attention as well as someone at that level would.
Yes, he probably didn't expect dropperlord and thought lings would just run in into his army at the 3-rd and that OV flying is just scouting. The fact that he wasn't paying attention might be giving out that is hacking insted of the opposite becuase he sent army to the 3-rd and thought the threat is dealt with. If you take that slip up out there are only clues that he cheats which i believe is telling. hacker. He reacted slow to the drop because he thought it was just an overlord on the mini map, didn't know it was a drop, or just was looking at other stuff and didn't notice the one dot very fast.
right, we need to think about it from his point of view and remember that while hacking he ALWAYS sees ALL the overlords ALL the time. I could see where you'd almost become desensitized to their presence, especially when a lot of times they're just scouting for info (that you don't care about them getting) and not dropping.
I think the army scans were mostly because he has absolutely no idea what the range of the siege tank is. Normally the fog of war is a clear indicator of how far out your tanks can see, but you lose that visual cue when you use maphacks
I was on the hackers stream before he got banned and that's not how his maphacks worked. He sees the unit through the fog of war, but he doesn't get the field of view that the unit gets. He essentially just sees units moving in complete dark. So the hacker doesn't lose visual cue of his tanks range, he seems to scan just because he is dumb. if you want to see example of that, harstem's "The WORLD Champion MapHacks vs me" was pretty much exactly what the hacker was seeing. Additionally, the hacker had production tab open, plus his screen was zoomed out way above what is normally possible in sc2. He could essentially see all his 3 starting bases in a single screen, making it very easy to deal with harass and always have units in position, as he literally could see everything coming at him from multiple angles without him even having to move his camera around. Luckily he was so bad that he couldn't properly abuse all the advantages he had.
@@scrapbotcommander Honestly, watching him play made me feel a bit bad for him. All his opponents were so much better than him, that pretty much the only way he could win was if they were allining and he could use the hacks to get considerable advantage. I wouldn't be shocked if he has humiliation fetish or something.
Exactly, he lost his first reaper in the the original CMA episode because he didn't move it until the lings were literally on top of it. What else is a high level player doing that early in the game if not watching your only unit on the opponent's side of the map?

Thanks for making this followup to your previous video. I got hacker vibes the entire time you played someone as bad at the game but same mental as avilo.
5:11 you expect him to move his svc's instead off just leaving them to die long after he responded to the drop... but again ive seen entire mineral lines die out bc a pro didnt care to move them hehe
I suspect he didn't see the ling drop because the overlord was retreating so he assumed it wouldn't turn around, then he caught it very late, surprise harass is a weakness of map hackers. I think he scans your army to let you know he sees you so you won't go in, that and vision for the tanks. It also give him an excuse for why he has vision.
"Oh crap I'm caught! Well, one dropperlord won't do that much, I'll let it hit before I react. Ok, now I need him to not wonder why I always know where he is. Scans! Yes, after a whole game of never scouting anything scans will make this not suspicious."
Many of the scans seem to be very poorly thought out efforts to “hide” that hes hacking. If questioned “are you hacking” had happened at any point earlier he’d have attempted to gaslight by saying something “but to have to scan you to see you”.
The repearer move makes the most logical sense if hte unti has vision and is selected to attack said unit it will path like this.. shortest path which is the most conclusive evidence of map hack, since the vision, is never lost hte pathing is the shortest distance, whereas in a normal play your unit loses vision.. and stops moving like an idiot, or last position or patrol spot.. it returns.. hmm 9:50
I think the difference between this guy and other hackers is that he actually does have some baseline skill/mechanics. The hacks give him the vision but his responses are actually good based on what he sees (Eg. 2 bunkers + cyclone when he sees roaches). Most lower level players who hack won’t even know how to respond to what they see.
GJ making the community better, if not for people like you it would be nothing but trolls maphacking everywhere :P also that weird feel you have NEVER EVER ignore it; it's basically your survival instinct developed through million off years to alarm you when your sensoring notes something is off; but it doesn't have the information to decide which reaction is needed. don't ignore that, it's when people ignore it things goes wrong irl ^^
Are Blizzards bans permanent (IP ban or whatever they were called) or people can just remake accounts is the real question? Sc2 is in need some serious moderation from a dev standpoint, which was neglected even before Blizz pulled out of support. Hackers, rampant smurfing (including certain high level content creators), wintraders. Long term this might to be an issue for having a health/stable playerbase.
I wonder why he scanned at all. It's not like it gave him any new information. Maybe his cheat overlay is just not very good and he needs the better UI the in-game client gives him.
It was significantly later after no roach attack with Harstem playing a very non-standard allin. Just compare the bunker timing vs Harstem vs the bunker timing vs the chinese zerg. Very different against the same opening.
its blind cuz the reaper is not really scouting at all. knowing if the 3rd is being build or not is just half the info, not going in to see the number of drones, queens and lings, bane nest or roch warren confirmation is also key. That plus the low ground cc is beyond SUS.
maybe his hacks only show minimpa dots? So he knows wehere to scan but wants to see the army comp. and his minimap only shows an overlord dot when you dropped
8:10 that is why he keeps scanning. bc it tricks you, but his unsieging and mirroring makes it obvious his cheating. mostly bc you don't reach this lvl off mmr doing such moves EVER (like have you Ever just randomly unsieged 10 tanks and moved them to the opposited position off where the opponent army is? you ever just thrown out 15 scans in a row just to give an illusion off you gaining knowleddgee, especially bc he doesnt have that many orbitals.... ... and for the rest he just plays really badly all considering....
I'm happy he got some amount of "karma" from being an absolute jerk. Hopefully he can change and evolve into something more positive for his life and others.
Dunno, but in my opinion, this guy want the spotlight. Its like he wants to get caught. Like those guys who... stimulate themselves in public cuz they got a fetish for getting caught mid-action. Or like those serial killers who like to tease the detectives until they reach the climax of the chase when they get arrested and become popular on the media. Thats also why he picked that name... unless thats actually Him. tbh i get matched with many guys (or the same guy on diff acounts) with that name in gm in americas' server.
well yeah, but nailing all the scans at the middle of the red blob on the minimap is basically saying: HEY, look at me i see your every move. I think this boy want to get caught.
I know who this is, his nickname is AVILO (not kidding). I was contacted by Le Faucheur during the game who told me he was a cheat and helped me out. And yes he was BM, and i dont know why the cap doesnt want us to go on a witchhunt, because this dude was definitely a piece of shit. Thanks Cap for helping clean up the game.
the first reaper movement reveals that they're a hacker. I almost quit playing sc2 because of so many hackers on the ladder. Shame on all those who hack
Ah, I see. For those who don't know, there is a guy who names himself after Avilo who maphacks. It isn't the real Avilo, but he seems to have a strange hate boner against him, which is weird since both of them seems to be a match made in heaven for each other to me.
@@nuz5 It's not the real Avilo. They both play mech and are very bad mannered, but they're different people. If anything this guy seems to be a hater of the real Avilo and trying to ruin his name, which is a little ironic. I don't think Avilo needs any help with that.
He could be very perceptive and good guesser so it appears psychic, since you can change your direction by free will. The rally tells you things in how units move... We ont have a conversation with hte person, but its liek you feel like scaning scaning is a feels based thing... pretty precise... The pre emptive move up didn't make sense but it was preditable you would rotate around... if you split your army imo, would of been better for the north and poke in again. He is never viewing the fog in a perceievable, way, like why od you click north and then go south, most humans never can see how their actions are so preditable, its a simpel 4 cornered map, teh question is harstem, yo uahve lings and roaches, and only 3 significant places to attack... and the outside is not... no nydus,, keep in mind you will attack where somethign is worth attacking... rotating tanks after an engagement with roaches early can allow you to avoid biles... with people that have good memories... so meh... Is he scanning for siege tank range? whihc makes no sense he shoudl scan when they are in range.. lol.. click onm your unit and it tells you... Map hacks is just nonsense, since hte game is setup so al ldata is always known, ther eare cheaters that simply have a data sheet of what and when your producing tab, so spawning pool, lings etc, tehy get an entire building q and management system dispalyed on what your doing, its better than vision... but you still need ot play well and coutner etc... cheaters... but I don't know anyhting itsa game and you can do anything in it... I htink if your going ot cheat, shoudl inject ultralisk into the mix that is neutral... lmao.. jokes... but yeah.. I don't really see anything.. it jsut seems strange, to scan so much and not mule.. meh.

GJ making the community better, if not for people like you it would be nothing but trolls maphacking everywhere :P
also that weird feel you have NEVER EVER ignore it; it's basically your survival instinct developed through million off years to alarm you when your sensoring notes something is off; but it doesn't have the information to decide which reaction is needed.
don't ignore that, it's when people ignore it things goes wrong irl ^^
When he built the bunker + ebay he did see your lings on the minimap at his third base but other than that seems like a hacker to me
Are Blizzards bans permanent (IP ban or whatever they were called) or people can just remake accounts is the real question?
Sc2 is in need some serious moderation from a dev standpoint, which was neglected even before Blizz pulled out of support. Hackers, rampant smurfing (including certain high level content creators), wintraders. Long term this might to be an issue for having a health/stable playerbase.
Harstem changing the hackers name in this video but forgetting that the player showed his name in the cheesiest man alive video :D
I think heromarine played this player on his stream two days ago and destroyed him, then went through the replay to show his obvious hacking
I wonder why he scanned at all. It's not like it gave him any new information. Maybe his cheat overlay is just not very good and he needs the better UI the in-game client gives him.
I must say, idk if the first bunker was truly "blind" since it went up after you attacked with quite some lings, but the reaper movement... yea
A terran! What a surprice :)))
Imagine you finish playing a game then HARSTEM messages you for the replays XD
so I was not the only one who thought this guy was off
maybe his hacks only show minimpa dots?
Haha, great stuff!
Didn't he also type "Ez" before there had been any interactions on the map?
we want to see the replays where he gets defeated lol
WHAT TYPE OF AGGRESSION HAVE U DONE ?
2 LINGS
STOP CRYING
Many scans could be just to disguise a maphack
well yeah, but nailing all the scans at the middle of the red blob on the minimap is basically saying: HEY, look at me i see your every move.
I think that he is the real Avilo.
Another one bites the dust
I thought this yesterday
the first reaper movement reveals that they're a hacker. I almost quit playing sc2 because of so many hackers on the ladder. Shame on all those who hack
Harstem acting like we don't all know why the guy is lol.
It's not Hacks. It's Avilo. For the 3% that didn't know. It's not the real Avilo maybe, but his name was like that.
Wouldn't it be great, if Twitch could use AI to permaban any Hacker, by identifying him by his voice? Ahhh pretty future.
Ah, I see. For those who don't know, there is a guy who names himself after Avilo who maphacks. It isn't the real Avilo, but he seems to have a strange hate boner against him, which is weird since both of them seems to be a match made in heaven for each other to me.
The real Avilo would do that though, did you see his brood war game vs Artosis?
@@nuz5 It's not the real Avilo. They both play mech and are very bad mannered, but they're different people. If anything this guy seems to be a hater of the real Avilo and trying to ruin his name, which is a little ironic. I don't think Avilo needs any help with that.
Ooh, that poetic justice getting stream sniped by actual GM's, then banned from twitch.. you have to be a special kind of stupid to cheat on stream.
Harstem definitely hacks
I htink if your going ot cheat, shoudl inject ultralisk into the mix that is neutral... lmao.. jokes... but yeah.. I don't really see anything.. it jsut seems strange, to scan so much and not mule.. meh.
But did he see the red dot?? 😂😂
Charles is a champ
remember when Harstem made good videos, like IODIS?
I dont know if this is the same Avilo from CnC3, but holy cow he sure sounds like it. Like, as if he hasnt changed in over 15 years. If its a LARPer, its a damned good one
The real avilo doesn't hack, most likely - he'll just BM you then call YOU a hacker.
idk
what he want Raise RANK?
You are the better Wilson.
I played him, he maphacks.
I felt something was off watching this yesterday as well. Not that I am at any level to know what is going on, but how your commentary was going during the game made me question if he was a hacker. It seems like he has a latch of mechanics and poor scouting/game knowledge. When you are speaking aloud why would he do this? Why is he making this decision that doesn't make since. Those types of comments made me have the feeling something was off.
is this that game where he was running around with unsieged tanks. Slow droplords. I felt like you had that game. Your army was just better.
I knew it!!
Totally guilty
0:10 Lol Harstem didnt have a fishy feeling, he wrote it off saying some players scout with their reaper, unlucky. Then the YT comments exploded with viewers that had played vs avilo who maphacks... i think Harstem just read the comments demanding an investigation then decided to investigate.
Yes the first time, but during the game you could tell Harstem was more and more baffled by the dreadful mechanics of such a high MMR player, except the pinpoint scans
@@Dhomden Exactly, he was very careful to not accuse him of hacking, but I think he did use the word "suspicious" when talking about his bad mechanics.
Nah, listen to his comments about "this guy does everything wrong except unit movement" in a way that accuses him of maphacking without outright saying it.
Why cover his name if we can see it in the cheesiest man alive episode
And the fact that his name got out is part of the reason he was caught because of the twitch connection
He gave Harstem the “ez” and it just didn’t sit well.
That way you have to look up the other video giving Harstem more views. 😂
I still respect Harstem blurring the name on principle. Yes, we can easily find out, but if we do then we did it on our own accord. Harstem's just trying to get this guy banned, not doxxed.
He plays as if scans deal damage lmfao
