A fun historical fact about Brazilian Presbyterianism:
Actually, there were a major split in the Mainline denomination over Massonari. The Manline were full of free-Masson and that was viewd as ok. Masson being Anti-Catholic help protected Protestantism in Brazil and a lot of free-Masson were Protestants.
The Independent Presbyterian Church was found but it went more liberal and start ordeining womens. The IPB (manline) in a Council declared being a Masson a Sin, but could not reunites with the IPI cause of the woman's ordination controversy. A very sad split, but what happens was a kind of Reconquista in the Manline and the retritionist went liberal.

Your take on Presbyterianism oversimplifies a lot. Predestination in Reformed theology isn't just a dismissal of free will-it's about God's sovereignty and His grace saving people who, left to their own devices, wouldn't choose Him (Romans 9, Ephesians 1). It aligns God's will with human freedom, recognizing that while humans make real choices, God's purposes are ultimately accomplished. And as for Presbyterian history, it's not just a story of rebellion. It's about a commitment to the authority of Scripture over human traditions. The Reformation-and Presbyterianism’s growth from it-was driven by a desire to return to biblical Christianity, which they believed the church had strayed from. If you think it's just 'breaking off,' you might want to consider why so many were willing to face persecution and even death for these beliefs. But let’s talk specifics: How do you reconcile your view with the consistent scriptural emphasis on God’s sovereign election? Or the historical evidence of Reformed churches striving for doctrinal purity based on Scripture, even at great cost?

      3) "Or the historical evidence of Reformed churches striving for doctrinal purity based on Scripture, even at great cost?"
The problem is who defines scripture in the first place and second Protestants will kill each other because there is no council or elders who can finally say what is true and what is false, which leads to just question the Bible directly, which leads into Age of Darkness (liberals call it Age of "Enlightenment")
      4) 'The Reformation-and Presbyterianism’s growth from it-was driven by a desire to return to biblical Christianity, which they believed the church had strayed from."
LOLOLOLOL, get lost, Presbyterianism growth came out of greedy English aristocrats who wanted theological bases to steal church gold in the monasteries because they where "elected" to do whatever they wanted to do because their actions meant nothing.
      5) "It's about a commitment to the authority of Scripture over human traditions."

Mary Tudor killed 600 Protestants, so that's double the amount of her father. Also Henry the VIII is not remembered fondly by the Anglican Church of England or by English people as a whole. But the thing is Mary persecuting Protestants instituted by law as part of the Catholic Counter Reformation. Henry was a lot less bothered by the religious aspect and was more concerned about authority... that's why during the times of his reign before he endorsed the Reformation, he executed both Catholics and Protestants. And after is hierarchical separation from Rome and the acceptance of Reformation Church ideals and a different structure of church polity..., he still executed both Catholics and Protestants that he felt challenged his authority or in some other way failed him.

It left me disenfranchised with the faith for a long time, and more of a progressive Christian. God pulled me out of that life, and into a Calvinistic Baptist church. I ended up marrying my husband who was saved in college while going to R.C. Sproul’s church. We both are still learning, but lean heavily Presbyterian and would attend a Presbyterian church if we weren’t so heavily involved in our little Baptist one. @@redeemedzoomer6053 On behalf of your Catholic base I can tell you we would love that. Please make sure you include the SSPX!! That's right, we have our own interesting disagreements even in the modern Church, particularly as it relates to Council VII. There are sedevacantists, "Benevacantists," and regular "rad-trads" who don't reject the current Pope but who do actively resist his heresy. Of course there are also terribly liberal societies inside the Church, like the Jesuits (of which Pope Francis is one), and individuals like Fr. James Martin who resemble liberal Methodists more than even moderate Catholics. We have our own spectrum, and though it is a parallel reckoning, it is a reckoning not unlike your own reconquista. Catholics need to recover their own Tradition too, and we also struggle with how to do this.
While, as "radical Traditionalists," the SSPX undoubtedly unashamedly professes things which are rejected by Protestantism, I still think that due to their orthodox viewpoints and sincere piety on balance, they are friends of the reconquista (even if we see the ultimate goal of something like that as a return to actual historical Catholicism, once it goes back to being what the Reformation was even actually about)
