- Something a little different for today! You are probably used to seeing us creating our soaps, but today, we thought we would have a bit of fun and create a resin soap dish instead.
It is always best to store handmade, cold process soaps on a soap dish to ensure that they can drain easily and don't go mushy, so why not create your own handmade soap dish to accompany your handmade soaps?
If you would like to have a go at this project yourself, you can find all the required items to enable you to create the soap dish that we have made in today's video here:
If you are in the UK: www.amazon.co.uk/shop/thesuss... (affiliate link)
If you are in the USA: www.amazon.com/shop/thesussex... (affiliate link)
The soap dish mould that we have used holds a total of 150ml of resin/hardener, so if you are using the same resin as us, you will need 100ml of resin and 50ml hardener to complete this project.
We used a selection of mica powders and glitters to create this soap dish, but you could also use pigments, alcohol inks or even dried flowers to create your own soap dish.

Awesome from jim wife love your voice you make it fun thanks I have a disability and my husband is dying and this helps me with Jesus thanks Tara ❤
Really enjoyed this as it was something different, my favorite was with the dried flowers.
I really like the soap dish with the flowers inside. That looks a lot of fun!
Thank you very much :-)
GORGEOUS!!!
That looks like good fun :)
It was! We absolutely love soap making, but sometimes it is just nice to take a day off and try something different!
I love. The floral. ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Thank you Karen :-)
If you’re using glitters or mica, the weight of it will sink to the bottom, which will really be the top of the mould when it’s finished 😊
i like transparent floral dish.... beautiful,,
Anne, your voice is very high pitched here, were you aware of that? Had to turn the volume down a bit. Not noticed in your newer videos. I guess it’s the voice of passion, and excitement sharing your project. Love your work, and I also love making resin items (orgonite particularly). I’ve been thinking of making a few resin soap dish for months. So thank you....
Oh no, have I gone to ultrasonic squeaky mode?! That's normally the pitch I reserve for when Wayne is annoying me! Naturally I am quite high pitched, but do try to rein it in a bit on UA-cam! :-D
I love these soap dishes but I cannot find these molds on Amazon or anywhere else? Want these for the drainage.
The truth is that after you take out the silicone mold you need to polish the epoxy, there are several different types of special papers that polish the thin layer and then your soap dish was shiny without the need for another layer of epoxy
I loved watching the soap dish making!😀 But I've got to ask, do the dishes have enough drain holes to prevent the soap getting soggy?🤔
Hi Jan, we wondered the same thing! However, after using our own handmade dishes for near on a year now, we can conclude that yes, the drain holes do their job well and our soaps do not get soggy :-)
@@TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany Thank you for sharing. Where do you let the water from soap dish drain to? Does it leave water on the counter?
