I got a cordyline stick as a souvenir from a friend who visited Hawaii - it was from a gift shop and they were not fresh. I had very little hope that it would sprout but it actually did after a few months in a take out container of damp sphagnum. It eventually gave me roots and new growth is poking through! Truly a resilient plant!
I love your enthusiasm for Cordyline. I feel the same and just came into possession of a variegated one. I’m so excited to have one again. I will overwinter indoors bc we are in a cold climate. Thank you!
Thank you for always teaching us so much in such an entertaining way. Learning by seeing (and of course by doing) is the best way to learn for me personally
PS: your updates are the best! I love seeing the progress without having to watch a separate video. Also, excited to follow your journey and, I guess, new format
I have one of this plant, it has a unique colour that never seen before, fast growing and love to place at the bright light but not direct sun. I always forget to watering but it can survive, and now it has 3 branches! Lovely🥰
Thank u soooooo much for this video..I have this plant for a couple of years, never knowing the name...i I am so excited to see how you are propogating it, even though its in full sun i find it a slow grower But thanks again😊
Muy informativo, me encanta porque da actualizaciones, así sabemos qué método va mejor. Pensé que iba a usar hormonas de enraizamiento, siempre las uso creo estoy adicta a ellas.
Always enjoy and learn a lot from your videos. The cordyline is very common here and referred to as "ti" leaf locally. The croton is non native to Hawaii, but is commonly seen around shopping centers and sometimes a neighbor's yard since the weather conditions support them. Very hearty plants. Aloha!
I love cordyline, bc here in Hawaii, they grow very well. I love the different varieties! How we prop them here, cut them and straight into the ground or wherever we want them. We usually go with 2 inch stems but now I know I can go even smaller! Gorgeous!
Hi Sean. 👋 Thank you for your video! I ❤️ Cordylines which are very easy to grow in here in Fiji, especially as they are one of our native species. We don't have the variety shown in your video though ...
Thing about Cordies in the tropics is they grow well in full light during the rainy season but the minute he rain stops after weeks of downpour they then scorch badly in the sun as the leaves became soft and tender in the rainy. However in the shade they also languish and grow skinny and badly. The leaves don't much like rain and wet all the time, this causes big dead spots, I guess fungal induced dead water mark patches. Many people spray continuously during the wet season with copper based fungicides to avoid this (not very environmentally sound) but preventing scorching is more problematic. Mine always look best in the dry season, during the wet season I chop em up and propagate.
I need your help? i just got one these beauty's. Yet i was able to put it in a better pot. now the leaves are yellowing and having dark spots. any suggestions?
Might mean insufficient light or watering. They love a bit of direct light. Also it depends on how well its taken to the new pot, they may need time to adapt

Yes this is good for confidence building for beginner plant parents. They do require more light than typical tropical foliage though
i have this one, its still small. Love the color. I have 4 variety.
As dramatic as a soap opera, as educational as national geographic. Entertaining and helpful! Thank you
Whoaaa that is a fun comment to read. Thank you!
@@onlyplants Also question, how do you whether to start propagating a plant in just water or in soil? Maybe you already have video about this?

I wonder if this plant is one of the once you kept after your downsizing. I hope you can dedicate an episode on which plants you kept. =)
When I do a houseplant tour at the new house it will become apparent which ones were kept 😀
Can cinnamon powder be placed on the fresh cuttings to avoid fungi?
Yep its got excellent anti-fungal properties
