The ending for Omar in The Wire was perfect, though. It was supposed to be shocking. It was supposed to make you mad. It was supposed to be random. Thats real. The Wire had some of the best writing of any dramatic series, including that scene. Omar couldnt survive the series. Not after everything he had done, and for him to lose his life to a random kid who had grown up around violence his whole life just made sense.
If you read/listen to the book about the show, All the Pieces Matter, this was an intentional decision to subvert the going out in a blaze of glory trope. They didn't want Omar's death to be a spectacle. The "real" Omar is the man playing the Deacon. He is the basis for Omar and they still didn't want to change their choice. Kenard was the perfect choice to be the killer and it is hinted at and built up for a while ahead of time.
"Does this taco taste funny to you?" Always gets me 😂
Tell me you didn't understand Mystery Spot without telling me you didn't understand Mystery Spot. That was the point, Gabriel/Loki is a trickster, it was meant to be a dumb death. That was... Literally the point. 👀
IMO Omar’s death was extremely fitting. He was a player in “the Game.” And by the time of his death, he’d become a bit complacent. A boogie man who made the hardest run with a simple whistle, until someone didn’t. And it wasn’t just any kid that killed him, it was Kenard, a background kid who had a history of being sneaky and double crossing his friends. Sure, a blaze of glory ending would have been entertaining, but Omar’s shocking and ultimately meaningless death was the only way for him to go.
Yup. It was fitting
"rocks fall, you all die" is a DnD meme of terrible DMing, and yet that's what GoT opted for. Madness.
Don't think you understood the death of Omar. It was a poetic reality that a kid raised in the very streets he did, in the very life he had, killed him. Generation, cyclical trauma.
Lexa’s death still pisses me off to this day
Me too. I kinda lost interest after that point and I havent watched any past Season 6. It's a cheap shot. The Commander dies because she's the lesbian character and breaks the rule that says ALL Commanders must remain alone to achieve their destiny. I never liked that, it was insane and it was clear her Keeper Of The Key(I forget the proper title) was madly in love with her but couldnt act on it and was insanely jealous of the relationship she had with Clarke.
@@starscreamthecruel8026 Literally the same happened to me when Jesus was killed off in TWD. Ironically enough both Lexa and Jesus suffered the "Bury your Gays' trope which pissed me off.
@@prodigal_rebel_2062 I really thought cinema had got past this, since the hayes code isnt in effect anymore but that was the reason it appeared in film to begin with. Movies that came out BEFORE The Hayes Code was written, had all kinds of alternative people.
Honestly, it didn't upset me nearly as much as it did beyond "well that's a little bit lame" and I disagreed with how upset people got over it. I know people say the whole "bury your gays" thing, but...as a member of the LGBT community myself, I've always felt we shouldn't be "exempt from death" in media. For us to be represented and treated equally, a character's sexuality should play no part in whether a character lives or dies. Narrative for instance, should. I don't want us to be seen as "special exceptions".
The similarities between the deaths of Lexa and Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer almost seem like a 'cut & paste' job.
i never actually thought of it that way until reading your comment -- but yeah i can see the similarities
If you wanna talk Dean Winchester deaths, the final one was the worst. A freaking nail took him out!
Exactly this! After everything he had been through too! 😭
@@AllyCatastrophe Yes! At least could have had 1 of the vampires do it. Something befitting a hunter, ya know?
The criticism on the Wire misses the point so bad, it makes you wonder if they ever understood any of it
As a kid, I always hated how Locke died on Lost. But, as an adult, I think it makes darkly poetic sense. His entire life was defined by a lack of living up fully to his potential, making his death as wholly tragic as his life had always been.
Jax drove into a truck because that’s how his father went out. Jax was riding the motorcycle that his father died on. It was meant to be symbolic. Omar’s death sucked but that’s how the street goes.
Thank you I was coming to say that about Jax. True fans got the symbolism, and we didn’t shake our heads at how he died.
It’s more about the cheap visuals than the actual method of death.
Ummm... Pretty sure Madison came back in the final season of Fear the Walking Dead. But that's just lazy writing
A lot of people stopped watching after Nick bought the farm. I suppose we can include the WC research dept in that group! 🙄
What about the anti-climactic death of the supposed Moriarty in Sherlock as showbink the beginning of this video? Suicide? All of a sudden for no apparent reason but wanting to die because it was explained by Sherlock in the following season. 🧐 felt a bit ‘whelmed. Not overland not under. Just mêh.
Arrow Aka Oliver Queen being killed by a generic monster was a bit of a disappointment, even though he made the ultimate sacrifice it still felt a little underwhelming for such a big character
Also Andrea from The Walking Dead
These tacos taste funny to you? The heat of the moment!!
Waaaahhhh!!!! Neck breaks. The heat of the moment!!!
You must have not watched Fear the Walking Dead. Madison came back in season 7 and survived the series finale at the end of season 8.
Yea, I think a better choice would have been her son Nick. Arguably, the best character on the show killed off way too soon. I was mad as hell about that, but stopped watching after the Madison "death".
Henry Blake - Commands the 4077th MASH for longer than the duration of the Korean War, then gets killed in an offscreen crash over the Sea of Japan.
Death by taco is realistic. I suspect my love of Mexican food will contribute to my early death.
When I read the title of this video, I know Omar's death in the wire would be number 1. LOL
Tacos are Mexican not Tex-mex and that’s coming from a Texan
NO, NO. the Omar's death is full of meanings, poetical and show to us what volatile life is.
Madison didn’t die but okie dookie😂
Tripp Tucker's death in the series finale of Star Trek: Enterprise was pointless and dumb. It was almost like the writers wanted to give the middle finger to fans of the show.
Shows how little TV I watch that I'm only aware of the GoT deaths.
Colin Baker's Doctor Who bumps his head on the Tardis console
Tara - Buffy the Vampire Slayer- powerful Wiccan. One episode cast a spell to make everyone blind to her to try and hide her powers from family. Killed but seasonal villain Warren’s stray bullet.
Ok it was in the incredible TV show Firefly's wrap up movie Serenity, but Wash's sudden death truly shocked me. Totally unnecessary and he was a beloved character.
Oh come on. Dean has a stupid final death. Why did you choose the one that was clearly a joke from a Groundhog Day-style episode? The fact he went out from food poisoning amid everything else was hilarious.
Exactly!
I Mean it’s not really a stupid final death he’s a hunter and you know how that goes if it wasn’t for chuck the whole time dean and Sam would’ve been gone along time ago.
Rise and Shine, Sammy!
Did you even watch lmao
@@venum90 Yeah, him dying because of being impaled on rebar was lacklustre.
7:23 LOL, that's so clearly a MANNEQUIN HAND 🤣🤣
Wait truck chan was played by michael chiklis and the scene does show him being hit? thats so funny.
“24” had a few deaths that were so “WTF” that I don’t think I ever finished the series. I think after they killed off Curtis Manning the way they did, I just stopped. It was infuriating.
Omar death hit different.
Stray bullet death that was worse? Tara in Buffy. I am still ticked by that. She was my favorite character, after Angel, of course.
Just do a video with all the Supernatural deaths.
I think The Walking Dead has to be one of the most frustrating examples of a TV show to exist. It started out pretty decent, Got into its stride and became arguably, one of the better zombie Related pieces of media to exist and then completely destroyed all that by making terrible decision After terrible decision that just ended up running that show into the ground. For people who still like it. That is fine but personallee. I couldn't keep watching the last few seasons that have been put out because of all the stuff that they've done That has made the show go downhill.
Jax’s death was the plan from the beginning
Carl had to die because the actor himself wanted to retire from acting to go to college. They had to do a rush job in order to take him out of the show since the actor himself wanted out. They could of done a better job doing so buttttt that's another bad death in the list of many for TWD.
Not in a creepy way, but I think everyone should know, I AM naked. Again. Not for a sexual reason at all. Circumstances can be ridiculous sometimes
Meth Burrito was a great plan
Yeah, it’s very cheap to have one of the only iconic was being characters in the 2000s area from especially that show up by history because that’s not totally absolutely the way that the car killed off Tara from Buffy the vampire s😮
Damn, y'all are dragging out that intro, huh?
I usually like Jules' videos but this is a very questionable list. Some of these aren't even actual proper deaths as well.
Madison Didn't Die In The Fire In The Stadium In Fear The Walking Dead Season 4 She Survived
Coral
Amazing video what culture,fantastic job.
Madison did not die in fear the walking dead. She survived until the end of the show. Shows whatculture did not do their research to find out Madison survived the events at the stadium and returns at the end of the 7th season.
Algorithm 👍🏾
Damn, shot by a child... If Madison of the Fear hadn't already gotten the spot here - Nick certainly would have.... And c'mon. Madi later got Namek Goku'd back in the show, we could've had TWO same exact titles 😆
Walking Dead Carl died because the actor wanted to go to college and had to leave the show to do it.
This is a rumor perpetuated by the showrunners. Chandler Riggs has openly stated that he bought a house near the set right before season 8 and then had to rent it out to the cast because he no longer had any reason to live there. It was just bad writing and cheap shock value.
That's what the showrunners WANTED people to believe. The truth is that the actor Chandler Riggs turned 18 just before Season 8, and the show didn't want to up his wages to the adult pay scale (he was being paid as a child actor up until then.) As I understand it, Chandler's dad kicked up a fuss when they tried to wriggle out of paying his son the full adult wage, and that pissed them off so they booted Chandler in a petty act of retribution.
When the 100 met the first leader of the earth people she too was shot dead when trying to make peace with them. So many times in the series I got mad at the death's of good characters. Personally I hated the last season, it was Crap.
You picked Jamie & Cersei over Oberyn Martell from Games of Thrones as the dumbest ways supposedly badass TV characters died instead?!👀
No the article this video is based on did. That’s how the channel works.
Oberyn died on screen the same way he did in the books. Take it up with George R.R. Martin. Cersei and Jaime was dumb because they spent eight seasons having Jaime grow and realize that Cersei was evil and they threw it away when Jaime ran right back to Cersei in the series finale.
I guess Madison heard you
Tbh lazy writing some times
Badass but went out like a dumbass
Death Wish
Jax’s death was stupid
Madison from Fear The Walking Dead DID NOT DIE. It was always planned for her to return & she did. She was never going to die in that Stadium.
I’m amazed at how people still don’t understand Game of Thrones. Cersei and Jamie’s deaths weren’t perfect. Because from Season 1, none of that world was perfect. Good people that you care for are killed early or sometimes in the most painful and gruesome ways and the bad guys get away with it or, like this case, die in a way that is not satisfying. That’s the point…it’s not a world that plays by the rules or learns from its mistakes. Hence the last scene where they all start to argue over the same things again and snigger when Sam suggests the people might have a say in who runs that world. No one learns any lessons and that world will continue to kill good people and bad people but in an uneven, unfair way. It’s baffling to me that people expected otherwise in that last season after 7 seasons of it not being that way.
Cersei and Jamie’s whole thing was each other and having Kings Landing to themselves. Having that pride overtake their decency. So it was APT that that world be the thing that kills them and quite literally caves in on them. It’s not the ending they deserved, but like most characters in the show, it’s the ending most apt to the irony of what they wanted.
I havent seen GoT but I figured there had to be some symbolism that was completely missed here. Symbolic deaths trump spectacle deaths every time.
Watchmen the TV show was shit. That's why it just had 1 season.
I wish Carl had died the first season. I hated that character.
you guys are wrong about Locke. the fact that he died such a sad and pointless death is the point of the character. there is a wonderful scene where the man in black tells ben that the last thought in jons mind before he died was " i don't understand" Its a one the best final twists in the show
I thought Carl HAD to leave TWD because the actor chose to leave.
He did not. Chandler Riggs and his family actually brought a house near set so that he could take on a bigger role. Gimple the show runner killed him off for shock value. There was a whole thing there chandlers family tired to sue amc or something because they moved to Georgia for the show only for Carl to be suddenly killed off months later
I Pray To God and Jesus Christ That This years animated film will do Dr. Manhattan justice after the pathetic excuse of a Watchmen Adaptation
OK hot take here.... Britts are no longer allowed to say taco.... It's not Tak-o.... its talk-o...we gave you a pass with Prince Andrew but this will not stand any longer.
They made dr manhattan black? Yeah…
and whatculture says the watchman SERIES was good .....totally lost any credibility...
Poor baby what is the matter have you a shortage of white characters to choose from ?
The walking dead show runners didn't decide for Carl to go the actor wanted to leave because he wanted to attend college if he didn't want to leave I'm pretty sure Carl would've stayed alive
They did. Chandler and just family have stated they where planning on continuing with the walking dead and even brought a house near set for chandler. Gimple killed Carl for shock value. There are some saying it was because amc did not want to pay chandler as an adult but I don’t know about that part. The college thing was all from the show runners and amc not chandler and his family. Chandlers dad also had a public argument with the show runner over suddenly killing off Carl after Gimple said he would be on the show for years to come
Black doctor Manhattan yeah that show sucked
