No it doesn't. It's apples and oranges. IPad is 1.5-12.9 inches. Samsung phone is 6.8 inches

Dex is my fully computer for about 10 months now. Loving it. No regrets. The convergence dream is here. Specially with the Note series, because of the bluetooth capacities of the Spen. Allows a lot more of things and uses scenarios.

I must say. I sold my PC a month ago. I only have DEX now as my primary device. It is the future. All my downloads files everything with me always. And immediately available via Dex once docked. I use Citrix etc to connect to my office and work apps. I hope Samsung continues development and support on Dex :)

Windows phone had this functionality many years ago, which gave you a Windows 10 light desktop experience. I loved it. And I miss Windows phone, the best mobile OS in my opinion. 😢
Apparently Samsung started first, Then Windows decide to hop on the bandwidth. But ended up giving up on it and just left it for 4years to sit with nothing really changed, Then ended it's support for it's updates.

Recently started using DeX. It's great. I can control my phone using a laptop, but I can't mirror my phone or use it as a touchpad. Plan on checking it out some more. Thanks Saki.
When you have dex on you monitor, if you go to you notifications drop down menu it should give you the option to screen mirror, or turn phone into track pad

This been around for about 4 to 5 years now, it was actually better before with the dex pad with cooling and was able to plug in a keyboard and what not for tvs without a usb port
I think you can get a hub so you can have ports such as usb/SD card ect

Sakitech, if I am understanding and reading other information correctly, this will only work with a USB C to HDMI adapter...is that correct? I have a USB C to USB cord with a Microsoft docking station and it's just not working. I will probably go buy the other cord today since it's in expensive but thought I would ask! Thanks!

Hey Saki I've been watching your channel since 2013. I wonder if you can help me. On dex if I want to do a Zoom call or phone call, once the call starts it disconnects from the dex and uses the smart phone. I tried this two days ago and the zoom meeting ran through the monitors speaker but ever since then that hasn't happened. Can you check this out please and let me know what your experience was and perhaps do a video on it please? Thanks for all you do and the helpful info you've always provided

Very good info, thanks for the video. Does it support 4k monitor and how is 4k playback? Is it smooth? I have ordered s20 and might upgrade to a 4k monitor if it supports...also, how is the BT keyboard and mouse speed, are there lags? Lastly, is there a dedicated hub on sale if wish to use usb type A and hdmi connects since that cost will be offset by retaining my existing setup. Thanks again.
4k playback works. But Dex doesn't have 4k resolution. I think only QHD+ would be the highest it works on.
Mouse and keyboard have no lags. I use BT Keyboard/Mouse/ And a cheap 24$ bluetooth headset and they all perform great while connected at same time.
Best option to go for is look on Ebay or Amazon for their Samsung Dex Station or Pad. These have built in cooling fans and allow more then 5apps to be up on the display at a time. (More apps can be ran, but will be minimized.).
Does the sound come out of the speakers on the phone or could you add a Bluetooth speaker and do you know if there would be any syncing issues between the video and audio

I realize this video was made a while back however I have a question. When your phone is connected to a monitor and you are mirroring your screen when you drag down your notifications you'll see a thin tab marked Android systems and it says charging connected device via USB. When you press on this and that's the bottom it says charging connected device and gives a brief description on what it does It also says if it's turned off the phone would charge. This is set default to on and I cannot figure out how to turn it because when I press it it does nothing. Do you know how to turn this off

Try using the Nex Dock 2 with Samsung phones, I'm sure you'll enjoy the DeX experience using it!

Samsung DeX works with Samsung Galaxy S8 and up. I think it also works with Samsung tablets.

DeX is just tablet mode really, because the apps are still mobile and not full blown windows/Mac desktop class software. Cool stuff though

Yup. You can open the camera or use the phone camera while in Dex.
Yes. It will show 4 participants at the same time. Also, in horizontal mode you camera video will be 4:3. There is a problem with switching video to other app and back to Zoom, but I fixed it by downloading an app from the Galaxy Store. It's called 'Sound Assistant. Select 'Multisound' at the bottom of the menu and then select 'Zoom' as an app that will always reproduce sound.

Nope. The phone screen is only 120hz. Dex doesn't have 120hz, it's only 60hz. So even if you got 120 or higher, It won't broadcast over 60hz.

Yes, but not with a monitor. I did it with a Samsung TV. Weirdly enough the image was more clear than through wire, but it had some latency, although both my monitor n TV are 4K

Can you drag your app out of the app drawer and place it on the desktop? If so will it stay there the next time you connect to dex again?
Yup. All the phone apps has it's app selection system that you can drag to the desktop UI just like a Windows 10 Computer's icons. It'll stay there, including the app arrangement you set in the app menu.

I'm currently using my Samsung Galaxy S20 with the Samsung DeX station. As we both know, the S20 Series support 120hz. I have a 144hz munitor. Is there any possible way, that I can use 120hz on my munitor using Samsung DeX?

No samsung doesn't support 120hz outside of their phone. 120hz is only built for their phone device itself.
Also outside of the Dex Station or Pad. You'll be limited to 5apps up on the display at a time. Dex Station and i believe pad give you 20apps to be on the display at same time. (You can have more apps, their just minimized.)
How to use Microsoft office.
Nice stuff. Maybe if you don't have a desktop PC this is useful. But if you have a desktop PC of your own, I cannot see the sense of using DeX.
So you don't have to spend $1500-$4000 on a new computer in addition to spending $1399 on the Samsung s20 5g phone????
Look at Samsungs dex website and you'll understand the point of Samsung's Dex.
But in simple. We use our phones as daily drivers for things of many reasons. So instead of switching platforms for working or using computer functions. You can do it all from your phone, And all the info stored on the phone is still there when using Dex, Which means you don't need to switch different platforms and have to readd this info or that password or this card number,etc to use on your computer. Because your phone turns into it and still has all the exact same data as it did when you used it on the go.
So use it normally. Go to work, Work on it as normal, Leave. Come home, Watch movies, or game. etc. No switching.

I can't see myself using this feature... The only place I'd have a monitor would be at home except that I'd have my pc there too. And there's no way I'm carrying a monitor to go to work or school. I'd just bring my own laptop! I just find it very useless and impractical (no physical keyboard and mouse) unless if you are stuck somewhere with no computer, etc which would be pretty rare.

If you have a smart TV, Yes. Or using a wireless HDMI Dongle like Miracasting. Yes, Dex or Mirroring will work. If you have a Compatible Samsung phone that has the up to date One UI with Wireless Dex function. Or just use basic Mirroring function for older gen.

Best would be Samsungs Dex Station or Pad. They can produce up to 20apps on the display at a time (. You can use more, just minimizes the older used app.) and can keep the phone cool while under heavy load. + keep it charged under intense tasks. Other options will only allow you 5apps on display at time with no cooling system, and cables like this don't charge the phone.

The keyboard and mouse do NOT have to be Bluetooth. You can get a USB type C hub with an hdmi + USB ports .

How do I get sound from TV if I hook it up. Everything else works with my s20. Just sound comes out of phone. Not tv. Any ideas or suggestions?
Click settings ( on your display) Click the top setting, it should be Samsung DeX ( wallpaper, pointer speed ) Then about halfway down, you should see ( Play sound on connected display. With a slider on the right )
Having to still use my note 8 with my Dex Station as the new z flip don't support it come on Samsung it's a expensive phone why no Dex.As I have a touch screen monitor I don't need a mouse just use fingers to swipe and tap on my monitor cool

I have a 45 inch tv when I'm connecting dex its aspect ratio goes more than 16:9..tried everything and nothing, I also tried on my 65" too same I changed my hdmi to type c cable thinking that would be the problem, it's still the same but if I put it on monitor than works fine but why not with TVs? your tV is prob using a custom scaling mode ,go to ya TV settings and select 1:1 pixel mapping or it might be called monitor /PC mode etc ,TVs will try and auto scale the ratio best suited for the inpuit device but might assume wrong ,so u have to manually set it to " PC mode " or soemthing alike that, refer to the TV manual

Not with just a USB-C to HDMI. No. But if you got a hub or Samsung's specific Dex Station/Pad Yes it'll keep it charged while running intense tasks. And keep it cool.

Probably never, because android is linux at its heart, which is why it uses apk files for apps
I have a Samsung Note 20 Ultra and I have connected it to a samsung qe65q60ta via DEX but unfurtunately I get this message on screen, " Monitor or Screen can't display Samsung Dex. Your TV isnt working correctly, or it's current resolution isnt supported by Samsung DEX."
In other words, it's in extremely low quality and I have no way of adjusting, on the mobile phone or TV. The TV display settings is greyed out.
What can I do?
Try updating the phone and TV's firmware.
