    I've found recycled black rubber edging to work fantastic in varied climates. You do need to use more than the included plastic spikes (I used long metal staples) but it lasts a LONG time and it's the right height to run my mower deck over w/o damaging it.

    Hey Cliff Holder, thats my point, the curbing looks great for years but its the maintenance around the curb that makes the difference. I have seen brick borders and plastic borders that people take care of and their lawn looks great. Its not only the curb that makes it all look great its the upkeep on lawn care that keeps it beautiful. Try not mowing for a year and Im sure your curbing in your yard wont have the same beauty as it does by mowing regularly. Curbs are nice but if you have flower gardens or shrub gardens with black dirt on one side and lawn on the other and it is not maintained for 2 years then it all looks terrible.

      Thats is the difference in concrete curbing and stone work. The edge of the mower fits right over the curb, no weed eating required. Rule of thumb, if maintenance is easy, it will most likely get done.

    Tumbled cobble stone installed properly is the way to go. All that work for something that will not last no reinforcement I am sure it's all broken into uneven sections by now.

    Never let the bubba push without concrete, you will start with better product. Add drill holes in select spots to add drainage. Should blow off the curb before sealing to aid in not having stains on the curb. I see more issues with the video, but atleast others are doing curb.

    In under 30 sec the bricks and plastic borders there are leaves, weeds and over grown grass and when they show the curbing they have mowed the grass, no leaves and fresh black top soil and shrubs! Curbs are nice but if there is no care taken after installed in 2 yrs it looks horrible and over grown as well. Landscaping always looks good when first finished but its the weekly maintenance that keeps it beautiful.

      I have over 600 ft of curbing in my yard. 5 years old, and it still looks great. All we do is mow. www.creativecurbingllc.com - Austin Tx

      J Ashby Ya I know but they make it sound like the curbing is what makes everything look great, they do improve things thats forsure but if its not maintained its full of weeds and overgrown in no time!

      @gilbertdueck4826 6 років тому +1

      Malachy Mulhall what does no money have to do with it? Im not talking about just mowing, im talking about maintaining the flower beds not the curbing going bad! In my line of work I have been to many yards with cont curbing and with brick or edging and its the hard work pulling weeds and keeping things trimmed that makes a yard look good not just laying down 200 ft of curbing! The point I have with this video is they didnt just put in the curbing they did a complete makeover of the beds! I know people who got landscapers to do $5000-$10,000 on their yards which looked awesome with cont curbing and then 2 yrs later with just mowing the lawn all the flower beds were weed infested and it looked terrible, it needed to be cleaned to keep the beauty, it had nothing to do with the curbing, the curbing was still like brand new but you couldnt see it under all the over growth, so watch the video again and look whats done besides the curbing, if all that work would have been done with bricks or edging it would look great as well

    Don't understand why you guys on UA-cam keep calling it concrete...its not its called mortar...definition: Concrete has a low water-to-cement ratio and is a thinner consistency than mortar. Concrete is often reinforced with steel when used a structural support of a building. ... Mortar, which is a mixture of water, cement, and sand, has a higher water-to cement ratio than concrete.

      It does, my mom had this done last year and they already look like shit. It's not for freezing climates, we live in wyoming. Waste of money around here even though there's several companies that do it. No warranty what so ever. It would be okay if they could figure out how to get some rebar in there

    • @johnsmithson8020

      @@cthunter41 In my area they use stainless steel cable that auto feeds into the curb, along with fibre used in the cement mix.

  • @ddprice8622
    @ddprice8622 6 років тому +3

    Multiple things I see going on that is so wrong... 1st, where did you buy that tiny measuring wheel? 2nd, You ever hear of a tarp? Use a few to put under your mixer (especially when using integral color) as you and the homeowner will be responsible for the damage to the street and gutter. Think a city won't care? Think again. AND a HUGE fine to boot. 3rd your mix is way to wet.. yes, way to wet! You can see the excess on the surface coming out the lil bubba. (at least you bought a good machine, I'll give you that much) So your curb is gonna be A. weak as crap and B. color is gonna look like crap, 4th, fill that hopper honey, don't be afraid! With so little mix in there your plunger is creating voids that you cannot see. It's gonna be like a sliced loaf of bread in a bag. No Good! At Time Stamp 2:44... what the heck do you call that to the right of your roller? That does not look good A ALL. And you are troweling in the opposite direction... go in the direction your machine is to keep the compaction tight! 5th, WAY TOO MUCH SEALER applied at one time. You're gonna have dripping that'll never go away. Do a few light spraying layers. Not one glob.

  • @SR-hl5vz
    @SR-hl5vz 6 років тому +5

    Better to do this with pavers and cements/mortar - that way at least it can be repaired if required. This is going to look like shit in 2 years. Do not do it people.

  • @MomedicsChannel
    @MomedicsChannel 6 років тому +2

    Wow. That looks horrendous. Like some Walmart level trash. I would NEVER do this. Gonna look even worse in 2 years after the color fades in the sun, it heaves from the frost and cracks.

      It is nothing wrong with the execution or the quality of the work. The design is just plain ugly

    • @neptune4167
      @neptune4167 6 років тому +6

      Agree, looks like they put a lot of work into creating something, by design, is ugly (opinion). They look like a nice mom and pop outfit, but their product doesnt suit me. Might I suggest a larger pattern wheel for a more varied stamped pattern. The smaller wheel is too small creating a pattern that does not look random enough. Also, that fire engine red is horrible. Maybe try a black to blend more with the mulch beds or a grey, maroon or really any other color.
      I can hear future owners of this home cursing while ripping that heavy concrete out in the future.
