    Khanom and Sichon is nice and quiet (have been there a few times) but transportation to international airports is a bit of a hassle. If you would like friends and family to come to visit often, getting there is rather inconvenient for them. Same if you want to travel internationally. It can be rather isolating as a result.

    • @edandtomo
      @edandtomo  6 днів тому

      Thanks for your thoughts. The airport is about 90 minutes away. Samui airport was much more convenient but the pluses here for us far outweigh the minuses. We recently traveled internationally and leaving our car very close to the airport cost us just ฿100 per day, and included pick up and drop off service! That’s hard to beat! We don’t feel isolated at all but that’s just our opinion. Living in a smaller community with good friends makes us feel very much at home!

      Too early for me to have that answer but rest assured we will be doing some research on the topic soon! I can say this - not nearly as many place open to rent here. People say “It’s like Samui 30 years ago” lots of open land. The RE explosion here has yet to happen.

    Hey! Super great opening! Very clever. Rare to see original stuff and you pulled it off. I can imagine you spending a full day in front of your laptop working on that as I sometimes do on a video. And it payed off nicely for you. A great video and a nice view count. BTW, I wrote to you over a year ago when you were on Reeshard's old travel show and I told you you'd be great next door neighbors, if that rings a bell. I don't think I had my channel then but watching all of you YTers on Reeshard's show inspired me! And my daughter was a frequent guest of his too. BTW, I hope Reeshard is doing well. Perhaps you know. I'd think ifsaid he got laid off with the economy problems at the time but if so why not just make the move to Thailand? I miss his show. Congratulations on your move. Continued best wishes.

    • @edandtomo
      @edandtomo  5 місяців тому

      Indeed I remember your comment! It put a smile on my face as I recall. The original idea came simply enough from the famous line “There’s no place like home.” My first thought was to do a video titled “There’s no place like Khanom” and it the background of the thumbnail the word “Khanom” wold have the word “home” with the opacity reduced. Then the idea just kept spinning and growing to include the opening with Tomo playing Dorothy and the whole spinning house. It had enough of a parallel to topic I wanted to discuss that it felt that I could marry the two together in a creative way that might serve to keep people watching.
      In the end I thought “this title won’t make people watch” So I opted for what I did because the words Koh Samui are highly searched.
      Anyways, I truly appreciate you taking notice and taking the time to say as much. You are the first to have even commented on the actual opening.
      Yeah, too sad what happened to Richard an it seems to have hit him pretty heavy. Did you see that hiking video he did? I’m not sure if he was milking the emotion for clicks (and lord knows he wouldn’t be the first person to have done that) but it did come across that he was in a heavy place. But that was a long time ago now so, I hope he’s back on his feet and doing well.
      I’ll take a look at your channel when I get a chance. I’ve got a lot going on at the moment but will check it out.
      Thanks again 🙏
      Ed

    Congratulations. Khanom is unique and should be on the list of anyone looking for a quiet place to retire to. You don't need to have beachfront property as there is easy access to Haad Na Dan beach. Note this isn't the only beach in Khanom District and there are many locations to pick. Staying inland is cheaper, quieter and with easier access to local food and stalls. The beach at Na Dan while not built up like any at Koh Samui, is still taken up by tourist outlets. Big shout to CC Beach Bar & Restaurant. 🙂

    I went to Koh Samui for the first time this year because family was visited. Extremely strange place. Doesn't feel anything like Thailand to me (coming from the north). All I saw were Europeans and even the staff at many areas were not Thai. The entire 5 days I didn't even see a single Thai tourist. Unlikely I would ever go back when there are so many other places like Khanom to visit.

      How about reading, gaining knowledge? Engaging with neighbors/shop owners on occasion? Hiking? Fishing? Strolling the beach? Going for a swim? Bike rides? Nature photography? Snorkeling? Not being able to find something to do - *when you actually want to do something* - is the sign of a simple mind.
      Who TF gets bored lying in a hammock? If you're not in your 20s, people don't need to be busy just because they can't stand to be alone with their own thoughts. Maybe some people's thoughts scare them. Many of us don't have that problem. Some people revel in the tranquility of silent stretches. No TV, video, internet 24/7. Birds chirping & waves crashing are wonderful sounds.
      One of the weaknesses of recent generations is they haven't learned how to 'be still.' They constantly have to bounce off of things, just to say they are doing something & to post on social media. In person, many of them express how miserable they are within 10 minutes of conversation. But hey, they're 'busy.'
      As for purpose? We define our own purpose. Society and social media do not. *Following social trends & using social media as a way to show you have a purpose is a clear sign that someone in fact has no purpose.* It is a weakness.
