❤ Love It! I ran into the same problem looking for a lift for a trailer we fell in love with. My parents always camped, and since my Dads passing, and Mom's stroke, she won't go in the $120k rv. The smell, the memories, and the sound of the motor overwhelm her with emotions. I want so badly to take her camping by the beach again before she passes.
It only about 17 months since my wheelchair life, my situation is somewhat different from yours I have used of my right leg so not All of your procedures apply but they do give me ideas and your courage and and skills inspire me to continue and not Give up, much love to you
I guess I had never read the full description before on your camping "journey". We tried camping once, but my wife hated it so we never did it again - always hotels thereafter. I applaud your persistence on sticking with it! I do miss the fresh air & starry skies! Thank heavens for nice friends with cabins/cottages!
Thanks so much for your video. When I saw the inside of your trailer my first reaction was WOW this a beautiful trailer. My wife is in a wheelchair ♿️😄. Again thanks so much for your video
That’s pretty cool. I like the lift idea instead of a ramp. Just a thought, you could put magnet on side of camper then one on the door to hold the door open. Also a string tied on inside of door near the handle then attached inside the camper would allow you to pull the door shut from inside. As a wheelchair user myself I appreciate the work you did so you can still go camping. I have looked at campers with ramps or lifts built in, but I love your diy. Thank you for sharing.
After I watched this video, the UA-cam Algorithm showed me one by someone called “Dude RV”. Yours is so much better, what with the side railing, the moveable remote control, and that really nifty lil automatic panel at the end which prevents you from rolling off the end. Yours is very slick and great! I can see why you now enjoy camping!
So cool Brittney!! We love our motorhome but a lift is for sure the next on the list cuz I feel so bad for Randy carrying me in and out everytime. Love that you were able to get on on Kijiji!! I'll be keeping my eyes out.
Hey Brittney...I ran into you looking for was to camp with disabilities. Though I'm not yet in a wheelchair yet,, eventually I may.. in the meantime...I have mobility challenges with stairs, and hubby and I want to travel full-time on the road. Stairs are a genuine barrier. I can get up and down, but with great work! So, seeing THIS LIFT...was amazing! Thank you so much. Blessings to you. LUCRETIA
Excellent, and a good deal on the lift! My partner is wheelchair bound with less abilities and uses a specialized mobile chair. I am researching toy haulers with a ramp and roll in showers. Dune used to produce but they are in AZ and I’m in FL. You’ve got a great set up, enjoy and love long and prosper friend!
I was so intrigued by how chair-friendly your trailer is now, that I watched a video today by the Keystone RV Centre that showed their wheelchair accessible travel trailer. Not nearly as useful as yours became they use a ramp instead of a lift. It isn’t independently accessible because it doesn’t achieve the 1 inch to 1 foot rule. Plus I cringed when they compared it to loading a motorcycle into it. And they call the entranceway a cargo room. That always pisses me off! The barn-door to the bathroom is kinda a nice touch. Overall, I much prefer the way you guys made your trailer accessible!
My wife and I just watched a bunch of your videos, SO inspiring for our son with SB!! Thank you for making these, we love your attitude and can't thank you enough for sharing this with us! Can I ask, was installing the lift extremely difficult? I'm sure there was a lot to it and I'm lucky to have some mechanically-inclined friends, but would love to know how brutal it was. Regardless, thank you again for taking the time to film and post, we're subscribed now and will continue to follow!! Keep kicking butt!!
Thank you!! The lift was easy to install. Just a few bolts to the frame of the trailer. My husband knows more lol. You can email me or DM me on Instagram or Facebook and we can talk more! empoweredpara@gmail.com @empoweredpara on Instagram and facebook
@@EmpoweredPara Thanks for getting back to me so quickly and That is SO kind of you to offer to connect!! We're figuring out a few things but we'll be in touch soon and again, my most humble and sincere thanks!!!
Hello! I watched your video with much interest as we are also looking for an hydraulic way of getting into our camper. I have a fear with this type of lift who looks so convenient: I think the whole system should be around 400 lbs? So isn't it a heavy weight to carry behind the wheels and all on one side? How is the driving? Thank you for sharing.
it is even heavier I think, maybe 800 lbs. It is fine driving for us. It reduces the clearance under thr trailer which was the worst part. We had to flip thr axels to get a few more inches of clearance. If you are buying a trailer look for one that is high off the ground. The weight is pretty insignificant unless you have a tiny trailer.
What site did you get up on to find this lift. We also have been looking for a used vul series and have had no luck so was wondering where you looked. 😊
Hi, I’m investigating the option of adding. UVL to my toy hauler to accommodate my daughter’s wheelchair. Can you tell me if it’s still working for you? I’ve been looking for a used UVL and am having difficulty finding one.
It works awesome still. Have had it for 5 years I think and no issues. Feel free to email me and I can pass any questions you have onto my husband who knows more about the lift than I do! empoweredpara@gmail.com
It’s obvious from your various videos that your husband has clever mechanical skills and is far from being an ‘all thumbs’ person, so the real question here is how did he manage to get his thumb in front of the camera lens at 1:43? I tried every which-way with an iPhone and the best I could do was the second knuckle on my index finger, lol! How many thumbs does that guy have!!??
lol well we have samsung phones but I have no idea how he did it. I was like what the hell didn't you notice your giant thumb when you were recording? Done is better than perfect though haha. And yes he is super handy which I am very thankful for
@@EmpoweredPara: Whoa, what a tag line! “Don’t just take a picture, put your thumb in it with a Samsung Galaxy! You can’t do THAT with an iPhone.” Ok…well I’ll polish that up a bit….

You're welcome! It's really not a beautiful trailer lol. It's small and old!

I am so glad you found my video helpful. The lift sure has been a life saver for me! Good luck with your travels!

Love it! I want one so bad!
Look on kijji! Or even look for old vans that might have one! I bet an old accessible van would be less expensive than a brand new lift!
Thank you so much.

What is the trailer brand? The entry door looks much wider than most trailers I’ve looked at.
Its a Cherokee. It is a standard size door. It just looks wider in thr video.
