Hi Guys picked up this 1983 Honda CX650 Euro Sports and it has been sitting in a shed for 20 years She's a bit sad looking So it's time to start another Cafe Racer project
Thanks mate Yeah I guess they are kind of rare. If you want to modify a motorcycle you really only need a frame and a motor and a rego plate is handy Any of these old bikes that are in reasonable condition should be restored in my opinion. Good luck with your search
Hi Steve!!, great to see you with another project, I was wondering what will it be, personally I don’t like the 650 E gas tank for a cafe racer project but I know you’ll pick a nice one, I’ll be waiting for the next episode, all the best mate!!👍🏻
Hey Carlos Great to hear from you hope all is well Yeah I do tend to agree with you the Honda CX500 Deluxe/Shadow is a great looking tank. I get people asking me all the time what sort of tank is that on the CX I do have a couple of spare CX500 Deluxe tanks that I can use but I have a look in my head that uses the 650E tank Say Carlos Remember I was telling you the Honda CX650 Cafe Racer had a starter motor slipping problem. I pulled the back of the motor off and checked the starter clutch and all was OK the springs rollers and surface were good. Put it all back together and checked out the starter motor. I could see where the motor wasn't getting a good earth in the motor. I could see where it had been arcing. So I made up a small copper plate and connected it to the brush plate and the outer housing. Put it all back together and I haven't had a slip problem since
@@Coolhand99au , that’s a great advice!!, if I ever have problem with the starter clutch I’ll check the starter motor before pull the engine out!!🤪👍🏻 I can’t agree more about the de luxe gas tank, so I’ll see you next week working with the front and rear suspension, isn’t it?, until then take care mate!!
Hello Steve, another project! I have pickled rust off using white vinegar and lemon juice. Worked well on a SMLE 303 barrel with some rust in the bore and I have used it to remove rust from cast iron. How was the CB 750 on the road, after you had finished it. It looked nice in the last video.
Hi ya Keith Yeah I did try a watered down solution of Hydrochloric acid and that got some off to. Really bottom line that tank is too far gone. So I will need to find a good replacement Yeah the Honda CB750 is going really nice. My mate has got the same model too. We went for a ride up to Whyalla a few weeks ago rode up through the back roads of Jamestown, Clare, Melrose into Port Augusta then down to Whyalla the CB750 went really well, they are a really nice bike on the open road Last weekend I rode the CX650 Cafe Racer and my mate took my CB750 to the Macclesfield Show and Shine. We had a great day out Another project !!! This will be the 5th one now Hahahahahah I must do a video of the Repairable write off 2019 Yamaha MT09 SP I did. It is a fun road rocket of a bike. Perfect for the Adelaide Hills
Hi Steve, I'm watching with interest as I'd like to obtain a cx500 for a future project. What $ did you pick this one up for..?
I'd like to find a cx650 in that condition for a build.
Thanks mate
