Congrats on finishing Wyatt’s sweater!! 🙌🏻 it looks great and I hope we get to see it on him. Adorable baby hat!! Amazing yarns from Yarnable and Christy!!
Hi Kay. Wyatt's sweater looks great. So glad you finished it though I know you hadn't really wanted to as it wasn't your love. It didn't bring you joy. I love the socks you finished and the new ones you have started. Those new yarns are just gorgeous. Hope you have a great weekend.
My “cheat” for the Musselburgh CO is to CO 4 sts and then kfb in each on the next round to get 8 and it looks great! Pull the tail and it makes a little X at the crown.
Another great caston method for the Musselburgh is by Mostly Knitting on her UA-cam channel. I tried so many of the others and found hers to be the easiest and best!
You did a fantastic job on the sweater. Taking your time and finishing on your own terms! I’m excited for your son! You are a rockstar of a mother and a knitter! Have a great week!💛
Lovely, pretty things again from you Kayla. Thank you The Jumper for Wyatt is a beaut!! Well done for making it to the end of that big project. It’s 55degrees here. Enjoy your 75degrees while it lasts 🙋🏼🤣
I LOVE how you are ok with not having yarn labels and also you have several sock projects cast on! You made my day with that one and I immediately cast on a second and third pair. I am now doing just vanilla socks and having fun doing different colors for heels and toes. LOVE your podcasts, seeing your socks, bags and tips!
Yay! Wyatt's sweater is done. I tend to stall in the middle, at the place where there is just boring stockinette that goes on forever or never-ending repeats. When I see the end I get reinvigorated and am eager to finish.
I love doing stockinette socks. I was thinking more of sweaters and tees. I’ve been making top down tees this summer and after I divide for the sleeves it is a lot of stockinette down the body.
Whew! That was close! I was just catching up on last week’s podcast, and I thought I was going to have to volunteer to finish Wyatt’s sweater. I’m so glad you pushed through and finished it. It looks amazing! And I’m glad he likes it too-such a labor of love should be worn.
I'm so glad you finished Wyatt's sweater! When you talked about giving it up last week, all I could think was OH NO not all those pretty cables? It's stunning. I know what you meant when you said why you were ready to walk away from it. That happens to me when I get close to the end of projects...I just want them done but don't want to finish them. That last quarter before casting off seems to take me the longest....and I have no idea why?! All of your socks are glorious as usual and the Musselburgh hats are too. Oh my gosh, that baby one! Can't wait to hear how that modified cast on works out. It would have a lot of fiddling. I haven't knit one yet BUT do have plans to. Wish I had a baby to knit for-I can't get that little pink beauty out of my brain! Oh and a belated happy birthday to you-that yarn you showed is glorious...can't wait to see it all knit up!
Ah you finished Wyatt’s sweater. I’d definitely love to see a picture of him wearing it but if he’s not comfortable that’s his decision, and I respect that. Cristie’s yarns are some of the best that I ever knit with. I just got her September 2024 color of the month (and a few others) and they’re just gorgeous. Happy making!
That’s so wonderful that you completed your son’s sweater! You are so industrious, Kayla! Your red socks with the Yarnable yarn were awesome. Love those little charm progress keepers. Have a great week!
Wyatt's sweater is fabulous!! I'm so happy that you finished it for him. Hope he'll let you show us how it looks on him.....even if you can't show his face!!!!😊
It warms my heart to hear that you finished the sweater. Your love for this project will come from seeing your son wear the sweater. I was also at Wool Gathering for the first time. It was awesome!
I'm so glad you decided not to give up on Wyatt's sweater. It is perfection and I'm glad he likes it too. I get that way too. Sometimes I just feel so done with a project but I push through and then am so happy I didn't abandon it.
So much productivity Kayla! Well done for getting that sweater off your back. If it was for yourself you would have decided it wasn’t making you happy but your gift-giving self couldn’t disappoint Wyatt!❤❤❤🎉
I’m so glad you made the final push on the sweater, your son is going to be able to remember all your efforts when he wears it and you’ll have the joy of fulfilling his wish. I have several projects that need 1/2 a sleeve or a button band or other small finishing details so I TOTALLY understand needing to rant and put something in time-out until I can calm down 😅
My friend and I were at Wool Gathering in Yellow Springs. Terribly hot but got great sock yarn for Halloween at Fiber Seed and Aisling Yarns two of my favorites.
The sweater you knitted for your son is so nice looking .I currently have a whip for my husband for a hoodie that involves cables. I love cables, but did not realize how tedious they are until you start knitting with them. I love all your projects shown
The sweater turned out beautifully! So glad you did finish it and Wyatt will get to enjoy it on your cooler fall days and winter. Maybe he would let you show a picture of how the sweater looks on him if you cut it off so his head (face) doesn’t show so we could enjoy your handy work!! Such beautiful yarn makes beautiful socks :).
Congratulations on finishing Wyatts jumper you sjould be very proud it looks amazing Yaaaa. Oh my goodness all the yarn looks soooo good love the colours that came in your parcel. 😊
I'm not on instagram but when you said, "The last thing some of you may be surprised about...", I said to myself "the sweater"; hahaha. Congrats on finishing it! I have two projects that just need to be seemed together; augh; it's embarrassing.
after years of being a knitting perfectionist I finally broke through to being a satisfied knitter. Stops and starts but never being happy with the sock resulting I found your Austin sock pattern on Ravelry and began to work through it learning good techniques that made good socks. I would go along and get discouraged and set them down but after winning a blue, Grand Champion and Judges Choice on my last socks in the fair I sat down and knitted a pair in less than a month! For me that is a record. Thanks Kayla I hope I have broken through at last.
OMG that yarn you got for your birthday is amazing!!! Too bad shipping to Europe is so expensive. Lucky you!!! And I am so so happy for you that you finished the sweater! Greetings from Belgium
Hi Kayla how are you doing today I am doing fine today your projects are very beautiful colors and very beautiful work thank goodness for sharing stay safe ❤❤
Yay! I'm so happy you finished Wyatt's sweater - and he likes it. I'm so with you on the 'lost the desire to finish'. I finally picked up the sleeves on my daughter's sweater. It should really take no time to complete. I'm loving the change in the air. Fall is coming!!!🍂
Wyatt's sweater turned out so good. I knew you would finish. As moms we do things for our babies we wouldn't do for ourselves. Lol Totally respect the photo issue. I always ask my sons first as well.
If I know how many stitches I am going to have in my musselburgh, I have cheated and done a provisional cast on, done the whole hat to a decrease, then when I go to pick up stitches, I am just working a second decrease. Also works really well to do a 2 sided or reversible one!
What you said about not wanting to finish your son's sweater crossed my mind as I looked at the pile of crocheted squares on my lap (for a Jethro cardigan). At the moment I wanted to throw them all across the room; I was tired of looking at them, tired of sewing them all together, and tired of the whole stupid project. I pushed on. Then I sewed the panels together and found I had about 300 loose ends to weave in. (Only a slight exaggeration. I didn't weave in ends on any of the 65 the squares OR when I sewed them together.) Now I really wanted to trash it and forget I ever knew how to crochet, but I pushed on. Color me surprised when I realized I had only laid out the squares on Tuesday afternoon, and by Thursday evening they were all sewn together AND the ends were woven in. Now I only need to add the edging and the sleeves; probably a week's worth of work if I focus. (Which I rarely do. Squirrel!) Plus it's the perfect length and so darn cute! 😄
Mostly rain on the last couple days with heavy wind here but I get Cody around the kitchen stove and knit and dry veggies in the oven to preserve them , also some herbs and it smells so lovely !
I just told my daughter yesterday that I think I like Fall the best. Now that you mention it, I think I like it, and maybe others as well, is because of the general association with Fall. It is the time of year that most people get together with family - Thanksgiving/Christmas - whereas they maybe don't see each other as much during the year. Those gatherings bring all "back together" to remind us of what is truly important. It is usually a very happy time. I pray for those that the holidays are dreaded. That is sad. However, wishing a Happy Fall to all! Now, I gotta go work on my socks.
Last week I was admiring your conviction to enjoying your knitting and deciding to possibly abandon the sweater….and now…I’m just in awe. It’s beautiful. And please do tell regarding the top of the musselburgh. I bet you are correct and it doesn’t matter…I will be trying it when I finish my current one on the needles!!
There is just something magical about a gloomy day! I guess because I’m such a homebody I fully embrace the darkness of fall and winter! Love Wyatt’s sweater - what a feat! Enjoy all the socks now! 🧦❤🧶
I just downloaded your Vanilla sock pattern. I am looking to join a Socktober in our local shop and just wanted a sweet pattern. Thank you for providing such a straightforward pattern. You did all the thinking for me. ❤
I’m so determined to make a musselburgh hat so I can’t wait to see you try different techniques! I know eventually I’ll find one that works best for me too!
LOVE WYATT'S sweater!!!!!! It is glorious🤩 I'm so happy starting my day knowing you finished it. Congrats - you go girl!!!!!!! Carrie from Eugene Oregon 😘❤🐶🐑☕🧵🪡🧶
Speckles! Speckles in that new yarn! Wyatt’s sweater looks fabulous and much larger since you blocked it. I bet you breathed a giant “sigh” when it was complete. 😉
Rhinebeck Roomies has become one of my go-to patterns for socks, and I recently used the pattern on a pair of fingerless mitts for my nephew. I used the pattern on a pair of socks for his boyfriend so they will sort of match.
I'm right there with you in cabled sweater land. I have finished the body and sleeves of my arctic light sweater and all I have left is the ribbing on the bottom of the body...and I can't find the motivation to get it done 😢 and I know it will lift all the weight off my shoulders when I get it done 😅 maybe after i finish kitchenering...is that a word 😂...the toe on this sock in my hands I'll work on it...maybe 😂😂😂
Congrats on finishing Wyatt’s sweater!! 🙌🏻 it looks great and I hope we get to see it on him. Adorable baby hat!! Amazing yarns from Yarnable and Christy!!

Always sock inspiration ❤. Love Wyatt’s sweater ❤
I’m going to give this a try.
Oh I need to try this too! Thank you for sharing.
Another great caston method for the Musselburgh is by Mostly Knitting on her UA-cam channel. I tried so many of the others and found hers to be the easiest and best!
Oh that yarn from Stitchin With Yarn is Gorgeous! Wow, I love it!
Yay. So happy you finished Wyatt’s sweater. That will open up your hands and your brain to so much fun.
You did a fantastic job on the sweater. Taking your time and finishing on your own terms! I’m excited for your son! You are a rockstar of a mother and a knitter! Have a great week!💛

Yay Wyatt's sweater!!! So exciting!
Wyatt’s sweater looks amazing- good for you, that was a lot of work!
Yay! Wyatt's sweater is done. I tend to stall in the middle, at the place where there is just boring stockinette that goes on forever or never-ending repeats. When I see the end I get reinvigorated and am eager to finish.
That’s awesome! See I can do endless stockinette for ages and not get bored. 🤣
I love doing stockinette socks. I was thinking more of sweaters and tees. I’ve been making top down tees this summer and after I divide for the sleeves it is a lot of stockinette down the body.
Good for you in finishing the sweater😊
So glad you finished the sweater😊

Your videos always make me remember to cherish the change of seasons. That sounds a lot cheesier than I intend. I‘ll make myself a pumpkin now 😂
GOOD FOR YOU FOR FINISHING WYATTS SWEATER🎉

I use long tail cast on for Musselburgh hats and close with using the tail. Works perfectly
So glad you finished Wyatt's sweater!! I hope Wyatt will let you show us a picture of him wearing it!!
I start my Musselburgh with magic ring and 8 single crochet and then picking up stitches to begin.
