    It's absolutely disgraceful and embarrassing that we ( Canada) are not supporting our troops or meeting our obligation. We must take our responsibility seriously. We must do better.

    He's a terrible general and went liberal. Soldiers asked him for new pistols in combat and he said NO.
    PM told NATO we will never pay the minimum 2%.
    Canada should have been kicked out of NATO years ago.
    Get what you pay for... and we are not paying so we get nothing.

    The state of our military is disgraceful. We used have world class soldiers and be proud of our military. Now, not so much. Such a shame. Maybe one day our leaders will learn from the variation of an old adage that Napoleon Bonaparte would have said according to French historians, "If you want war, prepare for peace."

      Simply spending more isn't the answer if the inefficiency of that spending is never faced.

    Canadian here. We need a stronger military. We have for years. We need a strong Arctic fleet and everything going on in the world reinforces this message. I feel like if I ran for prime minister and promised only this I'd probably win. C'mon, we need to get our act together!

      My family has served and continues to serve in the CAF.
      WE DO GIVE AN "eff."
      With the upcoming 2025 Canadian election, I've sent an email to the PMO as well as Pierre Poliviere, asking about investing in the CAF, and got RADIO SILENCE from both the Liberals and Conservatives. It's not a particular party issue. It's a complacency issue from both the Cons and Libs. It's absolutely freaking SAD.....
      We must vote for the lesser of two evils now.

    It's been a long time since Canada was at or near 2%. Last one was Pierre Trudeau's government in early 80's. Progressive governments from both sides have let it slide post Cold War. Military spending is up a little bit at 1.29% from a low of about 1.14% back probably more than 10 years. I don't blame Trudeau so much for the current level of spending as much as I blame him for his failure to get serious and realize that there is a fundamental change in World security now and it will never go back to the way it was. As the Arctic warms, Canada should be ramping up our troop numbers right across the board and actually getting serious about 2%. Start by maintaining the equipment we have. Our readiness numbers are ridiculous. Trudeau in his arrogance says we will never reach 2% and will be crying woe is me when the USA says protect your own Arctic. A serious government would be looking at a nuclear submarine fleet to protect our vast northern Archipelago.

    i'm ashamed of trudeau's government being ok with free riding as a member of nato. of all the countries not meeting the floor of military spending, canada has a far superior GDP than the others. trudeau government really dropping the ball here.

    • @franceyneireland1633
      @franceyneireland1633 9 місяців тому +1

      It's been both the Liberals and Conservatives who have not spent 2% of GDP on military spending since 1970. Under Harper it was down to 09%. What matters now is every elected party and the opposition both push and work together to bring up military spending to 2% of GDP are more.
