- Today, I will show you how to get Arcanum running very smoothly on modern versions of Windows.

I have to give you huge props! I had been fighting to get this to work on Win 11 for hours and this fixed all the problems. Thank you so much!!!
FYI - works great in a window, then use Lossless Scaling to sharpen and expand the image to full screen. Worked like a charm. Also - if you set the refresh at higher than 120 you will not be able to scroll the map with the arrow keys. My monitor was refreshing at 240, so I set to 240 and couldn't scroll the map. Reduce to 120. voila
One of the best games I've played during the golden years of my childhood. Good times. I still have this in my rig and play it every 1-2 years.

Thanks, I got a new ultrawide monitor that 3440x1440, and the game stopped worked correctly. Followed you suggestions, and used the wine dlls, and it works as did on my old setup.

Works like a charm, makes it more enyojable to play on modern systems. However i feel like the menus and UI become very small on my 256x1440 monitor.. Any tips to scale it up?
I have never tried any resolution over 1080, but you could certainly give it a try at 1440. Worst case scenario is that you have to change it back.
I just thought about it more and realized you weren't talking about the resolution. Lol! I am unaware of any way to scale up the actual interface. Sorry. :( Maybe Drog will spin up a way to do that in the future!
The only thing I want to ask is whether it will be possible to fold it so that it does not crash?

That's odd. Maybe try enabling the double buffer in the high resolution patch settings and see if that works.

Man, this just isn't working. I've followed the guide three times now, double checking each time. I know all the settings are right, and apparently it's not the high resolution pack.
I'm running 1920x1080 but I also tried my laptops actual dimensions which didn't work either 🤣 so I removed the high resolution pack and it still crashes on launch.
Not much else I can do. It opens the window, and immediately closes it.
Windows 10? Windows 11?
Are you using the Wine DLLs? You could also try the DDraw wrapper by elishacloud. It has a configuration file, so it might be possible to get it working with that. I can't remember if I have it linked anywhere, so let me know if you need a link to it. Sorry it's giving you so many issues.
@progrumz it's fine, yeah I was using the wine DLLs. Probably going to try a couple more times, and give up if I can't get it going.
